Now that I know more about the rules, I'm submitting this short music video for your approval. RIP Pop and Livonia Lewis, I'll look forward to hearing you singing in the Angel Band.

I once heard the following from an old preacher; When the conversation would turn to the end times and the Revelation of John, He would always say, I've studied Revelation just as thoroughly as the next man and am not ashamed to say I can't quite figure it all out. He said, I finally quit trying when I came to one realization. That is; What if the only thing that God is waiting on before that Judgement day is for one last sinner to be saved? He'd say, I've looked and looked and can't definitively point to any one prophesy that must be fulfilled so it would only stand to reason that God might just be waiting for the last few that will accept Christ as their Savior. So I figure my time is better spent looking for those souls than in trying to figure out when the Lord will come. Even Christ didn't know the day or the hour of His own return, so He busied Himself in reaching as many as would listen in His day, so shouldn't we follow His example and do the same?

I agree with all of missmuffet's advice, Just remember that it's this one, finding a "good Bible believing church" that might turn out to be the toughest. The Bible tells us that there are many false teachers, so my advice is follow all her advice but just take your time and read first the words of Christ so you'll be grounded enough to know if a church is really a "good Bible believing church". Samson slew 1000 Philistines with the jawbone of an ass, unfortunately way too many modern preachers are guilty of using the same weapon to lead people away from the true gospel. And one more thing, I think it's a brilliant idea to start with the Gospel of John. John, more than any Gospel goes to great length to show Christ's authority and goes more into depth about His deity. Then once you know that it's so much easier to accept all the rest of His teachings.

The answer to the first three questions in no. The next 4 are $0. I am on disability and receive a SS check that's just enough to live month to month and save the $200 tax bill each year. So far the car has made it for 18 years with very few major repairs (the most expensive was when I was still working) (see God was watching) As for my time, while I don't usually have the means to get out and do much with my time these days, I do occasionally go and play music either at a local housing complex for needy folks or at an old folks home near here. (Have even played Gospel music in a couple of bars before abandoning that idea) Over the past few years I have learned to do what I can with what I have and God has now led me to the internet where I'm learning to serve in a whole new way and in a new generation. (years ago, I would have been reading the speech I tried to post earlier). I'm not sure what kind of service is for me on the internet but while I'm waiting for it to develop I came across this place and it's pretty easy as I learn it and I enjoy the discussions so, I'm just hanging out here awaiting God's direction.

makes sense. I still say we've become too used to instant gratification media.

I believe that God is indeed our Heavenly Father. I believe that Christ is indeed the literal Son of God. I believe that the Holy Spirit was indeed sent from God. I also believe that I can't take those truths and come to any conclusion that they are 3 in one and I resist any effort to define God any way other than what He told Moses "I am that I am" (That pretty well says it all). There are other references in the Bible to different attributes of God. I believe that He is all of them and much more. More than our feeble human minds could ever imagine. So, with that said, if I can't imagine, I shouldn't try to define.
-
Yep, I guess folks these days are way too conditioned to short clips and 140 character tweets. (whose idea was that, anyway?) I've actually read the speech to an audience in under 2 hours (the guy on the video is a bit slow) but it's long by today's standards any way you look at it. That said, after all these years, I feel it's still pretty relevant and inspirational.

What does a simple funeral cost in your area?
unworthyservant replied to Jayne's topic in General Discussion
I can get cremated for around $2000 including a little urn (which you have to pay for whether you want it or not) and my intentions are if there's anything left in my estate it will go to the poor. I see no Biblical necessity for a expensive commercial funeral. I believe that whether you're bones are rotting in a desert or in a casket or anywhere your remains may end up, if you're one of God's children you're still going the same place, so just return my body to the ashes, as God will take care of my soul. When time shall come for my leaving When I must bid you adieu Don't spend your money for flowers Just a rose will do. I'll go to a beautiful garden At last when life's work is through. Don't spend your money for flowers Just a rose will do. I'll need no organization To make a big to-do, I'll need no fine decorations, Just a rose will do. Just have an old-fashioned preacher To preach the Gospel truth Don't spend your money for flowers Just a rose will do. -

Hey, that isn't actually a literal question for me is it? I was busy listing Bible references when I noticed that you seem to be saying you have a new topic on it where you have already done what I was about to do here, list the Bible references. Yes? -
Sex and the City? SODOM and GOMORRAH
unworthyservant replied to unworthyservant's topic in General Discussion
I did that very thing and after reading the articles I returned here and saw where someone had beaten me to that but I'll just add that the world will always be doing things that Christians should not partake in but I believe it more prudent to go about God's work and leave conspiracies of this type to the non believers. Don't get me wrong, if Congress ever has a bill legalizing pedophilia, I'll certainly let my Senators know my opinion, then I'll pray to God, Not my will but thine. Then I'll go back to the work that God has for me at that time. Just makes life a lot simpler I find. -
I'm just going to await any advice from the admin before I get myself into another mess. I only learned to post links a few hours ago and look at the mess I've already started.

Well, since I don't know what you find offensive, here's a few selected quotes. Let me know if you find any of these offensive. “.@ariannahuff is unattractive both inside and out. I fully understand why her former husband left her for a man- he made a good decision.” "I could stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot people and I wouldn't lose voters." "I get called by a guy that can't buy a pair of pants, I get called names?" This is Trump's response to being called a "rodeo clown" by commentator Charles Krauthammer, who is paralyzed from the waist down. “I have black guys counting my money. … I hate it. The only guys I want counting my money are short guys that wear yarmulkes all day.” "You’ve got to see this guy, 'Ah, I don’t know what I said!'" This was said about a disabled reporter and while he was saying it, he was flailing his arms in a manner almost identical to the involuntary movements of the reporter due to his disability. I'm not allowed to post videos but look it up. There's a few that allow you to watch Mr. Trumps movements alongside those of the reporter. “She gets out and she starts asking me all sorts of ridiculous questions. You could see there was blood coming out of her eyes, blood coming out of her wherever. In my opinion, she was off base.” Speaking of Fox reporter Megyn Kelly. "It must be a pretty picture, you dropping to your knees.” To celebrity apprentice contestant and former Playboy model, Brande Roderick. "I watched when the World Trade Center came tumbling down. And I watched in Jersey City, New Jersey, where thousands and thousands of people were cheering as that building was coming down.” Most non political sources agree that this is an outright lie and has been discredited. “You know, it really doesn’t matter what the media write as long as you’ve got a young and beautiful piece of ass.” That should be enough for now but there are many more that fit this mold. I suffered through all of them in silence because of my reluctance to sound political and thus alienate a segment of the population from what's really important, Faith! I finally had to speak up when the incident that began this discussion came across my TV screen.

I agree. The point of the post is that ALL sexual sin is grievous (as is all sin in general) and we should be careful to " First, remove the beam out of your own eye, only then you can see clearly to remove the speck out of your brother's eye". -
Ah, just figured out the problem. You can't edit and remove everything, so I was able to edit out the actual link by leaving the other text intact and now I no longer get the error message.
-
I've tried that a half dozen times and as I've mentioned I get an error message and the system replaces the text.
-
??? Do you mean MS Word? I have it but don't understand how it could help with this.
-
That's what I've tried several times and I don't know why but after I remove everything and hit enter or submit I get an error message and all the text is right back again.
-
When I try to remove the text I keep getting a error message and I don't know how to delete a topic.
-
Oh, I have now read and understand the rule, I think. I'm just not having any luck as to how to remedy the situation so I'm awaiting instructions from the admin. I sent him a message a little while ago.
-
Well, the more I try and figure it out the more confused I am, so I just self reported to the admin and am awaiting his advice. Thanks all and I hope that this can be cleared up.
-
Don't know how to do either. I'll check right now. BTW, are you suggesting that there's a way that I can and thereby should remove it myself and then present it for approval or noting the fact that someone who does have that ability hasn't done so?

I think that to understand the meaning requires the context of the entire discourse so here it is from the KJV 57 And it came to pass, that, as they went in the way, a certain man said unto him, Lord, I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest. 58 And Jesus said unto him, Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head. 59 And he said unto another, Follow me. But he said, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father. 60 Jesus said unto him, Let the dead bury their dead: but go thou and preach the kingdom of God. 61 And another also said, Lord, I will follow thee; but let me first go bid them farewell, which are at home at my house. 62 And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God. The discourse begins when a man said to Jesus that he would follow Him wherever and Jesus said unto him,"Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head". Christ is reminding the fellow of the sacrifice required to serve Him. He literally had no place to lay His head. He was letting the amn know of the hardships that would come with his decision. Then in the second incidence Christ called a person to follow Him and the person replied "Lord suffer me first to go and bury my father". That's when Christ told him "Let the dead bury the dead" and tells him that he should "preach the kingdom of God". This time Christ is telling us that preaching the Gospel takes precedent over earthly tasks, even those of burying the dead. Personally, I have a problem with folks spending $8000+ on funerals (per Alex Trebeck) while "the harvest is great and laborers few" and that money could go toward the harvest. It's in the last scenario that Christ ties it all together. This man wanted to just go and say goodbye to his family and Christ said "No man, having put his hand to the plough and looking back is fit for the Kingdom of God". So all told what Christ is teaching is that preaching the Gospel should be so much of a priority that even what are thought to be societal niceties should never take precedence and that following Him would require sacrifice. At least that's the way that God has revealed it to me.

Whoops. Thanks. I guess I should go read the terms, huh? I was just so tickled to realize that it was possible that I just had to post something and I'm sure that the content in the speech there would not be considered by anyone to be anything other than inspirational. Just curious, do you think that if a request had been made that someone would have had to take the time to view the entire 2 hour video to determine if it was postable. (Spell check says postable isn't a word)
