  1. There are only two birthdays celebrated in the Bible, neither one is remotely positive...
  2. I wouldn't get a tattoo at all.
  3. Why would you beat anyone with the knowledge? Telling them is not beating them; having told them, you then pray for them, and trust the Lord for the result.
  4. Would you treat "celebrating" pagan festivals as "minor"? Does the Lord?
  5. Col. 2:16 and Rom. 14:5,6 refer to Jewish festivals, Sabbath days and people's conscience; they do not refer to pagan traditions. Context matters...
  6. The main issue I wanted to highlight was that people often practise these man-made traditions, without giving much thought as to whether or not the Lord wants us to (I say this from experience). This should surely be the main issue, rather than merely saying that the practices are not forbidden.
  7. Yes, it was taken from 1 Pet. 3:15. Actually, I think that all the boxes are ticked. Was I respectful? Yes, I would say so. Did the other poster ask a question? Not technically; but, he did give his objection to the verse which says that God works all things according to the counsel of his own will, and, since that is part of our hope (confidence for the future), I felt the need to answer his objection with Scripture. Yes, I could have started a thread, but it was late at night (here), I was very tired and I just didn't feel like it, so I fired off a quick response instead.
  8. I agree; however, this is not what I asked about. I'll put it this way: if someone on a desert island, found a Bible and got saved, he would not, in a million years, think of celebrating the Lord's birthday, on 25th Dec., by hanging decorations on an evergreen tree. It just would not happen. Christ-Mass has a different source, and it's not Christian.
  9. I don't think you've got the hang of this discussion thing. If you answer my questions, I'll answer yours.
  10. I'm pleased that the reason you put up a tree is to glorify God. The questions are: how do you know that that is what he wants?; and, what makes you think that it glorifies him?
  11. There's no law against putting up a tree and having fairy lights, witching balls and tinsel on it; but, is it done to please God, because it's what God wants, or for other reasons?
  12. Omegaman was referring to "free will", sin and soteriology as being off-topic; and I agreed with him. What is HAARP? Yes, the military (and others) have been trying to control the weather, for decades. This is well known and no secret.
  13. Where does the Bible say that Jesus became incarnate on the 25th Dec.? Where does the Bible say that Jesus was resurrected on "Easter" (a pagan festival)? Britain (not just England) has the 4th July, since it's part of the calendar, like every other day; it's just that we don't celebrate the violent rebellion and illegal creation of a new country on that date (or any other date). In a similar way, we don't celebrate Bastille Day, or the Russian Revolution. The 31st Oct. is Reformation Day, if anyone knows or cares any more, not that anyone has to celebrate that either, but at least it's much better than celebrating witchcraft on Halloween.
  14. Yes, it's off-topic. I'll stop now; although, we do always need to be willing to give an answer for the hope that is in us, even if the setting seems somewhat inappropriate.
  15. I don't have time just now, to answer this fully, but consider the following verses about those who have been born again. 1 John 3:9 (EMTV) No one who has been born of God practices sin, because His seed abides in him; and he cannot keep on sinning, because he has been born of God. 1 John 5:4 (EMTV) because everything having been born of God overcomes the world: and this is the victory that has overcome the world—your faith.
  16. For the most part??? God is in control of every part! Eph. 1:11 (KJV) In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will: That's true.
  17. Hmm... Perhaps we need a new "groan" emoji, for bad jokes? I'm British and we tend to have a rather dry sense of humour (probably to offset the voluminous quantity of rain we get). I took a slight risk, but I'm glad you realised that I wasn't trying to be rude.
  18. God is in control, whatever happens, and whatever the weather (we have loads of cold, wet, grey weather where I live; in fact, we have a word for it, in Scots "dreich", which is one of the most commonly used Scots words).
  19. Uh oh! Better stock up... Or, you could stand under some chem trails, with your mouth wide open.
  20. You have been in opinions, from the beginning. I suppose I should have heeded Mark Twain's warning (modified to the fit the context) not to debate with someone whose foundation is his own opinions, on his ground, because he'll drag you down to his level, then beat you with experience.
  21. Ah; so, in your priestliness (In which religion are you an ordained priest?), you have placed your opinions above the word of God. That's not a sign of humility, you know. We are to test everything by the Holy Bible. It is the God-breathed, perfect standard, in comparison to which the very best that man can produce is a heap of dung.
