  1. Which people were incarcerated without trial? Which people were were tracked down to their homes and incarcerated as political prisoners simply because they were there? "Should they arrest me for wanting to go to a rally? Ridiculous." Agreed, which is why (I assume) you were not arrested.
  2. So the criminal justice system of the US is flawed in your opinion. Violators had their day in court, were convicted by a jury of their peers, and sentenced by the judge to prison. What else about the US justice system to you find to be flawed?
  3. LOL!!! Let's see how the various courts decide Trump's guilt or innocence. Unless you (erroneously) believe that the entire system of justice is corrupt, your premise is false. In 2023, four criminal indictments were filed against Donald Trump, the president of the United States from 2017 to 2021. Two indictments are on state charges and two indictments are on federal charges. These indictments amount to a total of 91 felony charges.

He is a liar and a fraud. He was fired from Fox(!) for a good reason! So, following your reasoning, Fox News is a Marxist organization. Really???
  5. Abortion is a valid medical procedure. There are certain conditions in which the embryo or fetus cannot survive outside the womb. An example of this is a fetus with defective lungs. Another is defective kidneys. Another is a defective heart. It is senseless to endanger the life of the mother (who might have other children) because of some misapplied, false reasoning. For those of you who oppose abortion, do you enjoy watching a newborn die?
  6. I agree entirely. (BTW, the ability to "comment" on a post via an emoji has been removed from my account.)
  7. "Christianity and abortion have a long and complex history. There is a general consensus that the texts of the Bible are "ambiguous" on the subject of abortion, neither containing explicit support or opposition, although there has been several passages interpreted that have been interpreted indicating both. Today, Christian denominations hold widely variant stances." From the article "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christianity_and_abortion" in Wikipedia (worth reading)\ "Christians have so far failed to show why abortion is an affront to Christian convictions. Rather than arguing when life begins, Christians must show that Christianity as a way of life which recognizes God as Lord of life makes abortion unthinkable." From the NIH It would be helpful for anyone interested in the subject to be informed about the discussions about Christianity and abortions.
  8. Applying Proverbs 14:12 to abortion is meaningless. Job 31:15 is also misapplied, unless you consider that God also made fetuses that had zero chance of surviving. (In context it is referring to slaves.) Jeremiah 1:4-5 is about the prophet being chosen before he was born... Now the word of the Lord came to me saying, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.” So God had a specific purpose for Jeremiah. So what? What is God's purpose for forming fetuses in the womb that cannot survive independently? Taking verse from here and there, out of context, to prove a predetermined point is meaningless. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Here are a few things God also did... He killed all the firstborn of Egypt, humans and animals. He allowed Herod to kill all the boys two years of age and younger. God also said this through Jeremiah: "Thus says the Lord: A voice is heard in Ramah, lamentation and bitter weeping. Rachel is weeping for her children; she refuses to be comforted for her children, because they are no more." Jeremiah 31:15, repeated in Matthew 2:18 And there are many instances in the Old Testament when God allows armies to slaughter men, women, and children. ----------------------------------------------------------------- So the sovereign God allows many, many living children to be murdered on several occasions. Therefore, your out-of-context verses prove nothing about God's attitude about performing abortions. In reality, the US Constitution gives freedom to citizens, including the right to make medical decisions free of government interference.
  9. It is clear to me that you don't underst5and fertilization, pregnancy, what an embryo or a fetus is, etc. An embryo cannot survive independently of the mother, period. So it cannot be considered to be alive. A fetus cannot survive independently of the mother (unless, in some cases, extraordinary measures are taken to try to insure its survival), so a fetus cannot considered to be alive. There are many occasions when a fetus must be aborted. There are fetal anomalies that make survival impossible outside of the womb, for example, not having functioning lungs or having a malformed heart. The only sensible thing to do in those cases is to abort the pregnancy! It is nothing but propaganda, based on ignorance, to consider carrying such a fetus to term, unless you want to observe its suffering and dying an agonizing death.\ The whole debate about abortion is hyper-emotional. Much of it is based on myths and lack of logic. Abortion is a necessary medical procedure that should be decided upon by the woman, her physician, and her family, not by government fiat. Why do you want to deny a woman her freedom?
  10. I understand, but sometimes editing needs to be done to correct spelling, grammar, etc. or modify something already written to make it clearer. Not everything is done with nefarious intent.
  11. James Ray Epps is a former United States Marine and Oath Keepers chapter president. Following the January 6 United States Capitol attack, conspiracy theories were shared on Twitter and by Fox News host Tucker Carlson, accusing Epps of being an agent provocateur and linking his wife to Dominion Voting Systems. So he pleaded guilty. Like thousands of others, Epps was on the restricted grounds of the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6. Video of Epps from the night of Jan. 5 shows him saying that Trump supporters should go inside the Capitol, and video on Jan. 6 shows him urging Trump supporters to go to the Capitol. Later, once a riot breaks out, video shows Epps trying to calm tensions between police and protesters. Most of the charged Jan. 6 defendants either entered the Capitol itself or committed violence or destruction outside, placing Epps in a small category of Jan. 6 participants charged despite never entering the building or engaging in destructive or assaultive conduct. (source: NBC News)
  12. I should have typed "in this case", not "in the case". Again, I am correcting grammar, not changing the meaning. But because of the restriction placed on me by the administrators, I have to make multiple posts to correct simple grammatical mistakes. It's a waste of your time and mine!
  13. I am prevented by the forum administrators from changing something I have already posted. Apparently they thought that I would edit the post to alter what I wrote earlier to mean something different. For the record, that was never my intention. Editing means altering such things as misspellings, errors of punctuation, or, in the case, faulty numbering. But I digress... In my previous post, I wrote "The four key points of Darwin's Theory of Evolution are: 1) individuals of a species are not identical; traits are passed from generation to generation; 2) more offspring are born than can survive; and 3) only the survivors of the competition for resources will reproduce." But I numbered them incorrectly. Here is the correct version; The four key points of Darwin's Theory of Evolution are: 1) individuals of a species are not identical; 2) traits are passed from generation to generation; 3) more offspring are born than can survive; and 4) only the survivors of the competition for resources will reproduce. So, I haven't changed the content, merely corrected numbering. Big deal!!!
  14. I haven't read this entire post, nor even a large part of it. The subject is the theory of evolution. It is a scientific theory, a set of propositions that seek to explain a particular phenomenon or set of facts. A theory can be tested and shown to be accurate or modified as the evidence requires. There is clearly enough evidence to give credence to this theory, which seeks to explain how biological populations evolve through genetic changes that correspond to changes in the organisms' observable traits. The four key points of Darwin's Theory of Evolution are: 1) individuals of a species are not identical; traits are passed from generation to generation; 2) more offspring are born than can survive; and 3) only the survivors of the competition for resources will reproduce. This in now way conflicts with the account of God's creation in Genesis. Genesis 1:11-12, "Then God said, “Let the earth put forth vegetation: plants yielding seed and fruit trees of every kind on earth that bear fruit with the seed in it.” And it was so. The earth brought forth vegetation: plants yielding seed of every kind and trees of every kind bearing fruit with the seed in it. And God saw that it was good." Notice that there are plants yielding seed and trees that bear fruit. There is no indication that seed-bearing plants became trees or vice versa. Genesis 1:20-22, "And God said, “Let the waters bring forth swarms of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the dome of the sky.” So God created the great sea monsters and every living creature that moves, of every kind, with which the waters swarm and every winged bird of every kind. And God saw that it was good. God blessed them, saying, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the waters in the seas, and let birds multiply on the earth.” There is no indication sea creatures became birds or vice-versa. Genesis 1:24-25, "And God said, “Let the earth bring forth living creatures of every kind: cattle and creeping things and wild animals of the earth of every kind.” And it was so. God made the wild animals of the earth of every kind and the cattle of every kind and everything that creeps upon the ground of every kind. And God saw that it was good." There is no indication cattle became animals that creep along the ground or wild animals. Members of most species evolve in order to adapt to a changing environment, but some fail. In summary, the scientific theory of evolution is not in conflict with the accounts of creation in Genesis.
  15. Since you wrote this -- "Your hatred is blinding you." -- our discussion is finished.
  16. Most of the Christians that are know are good people, kind, caring, generous. I don't think any of them will turn into "wolves". That goes for real Christians who are led by the Spirit, not people who are Christians in name only. There are many good people where I live ( northern New Mexico), but the rest of the country has its share of violent, prejudiced people. IMHO something evil has happened, not too different from Nazi Germany in the early 20th Century. Remember when Trump called the Nazis "good people" when they were marching in Charlottesville with their torches, chanting "Jews will not replace us". And this year, on Rosh Hashanah, he said that liberal Jews who did not support him “voted to destroy America & Israel.” And people want him to be President? He is clearly anti-Semitic. No thinking person who values our country should support him!
  17. We agree on one thing: we live in an age where deception and lying is the norm, just as Jesus said it would be like in the last days. I am concerned about the spiritual state of this country. I am 80 years old and have been interested in politics ever since I was a teenager. I haven't seen so much hatred, division, intolerance and violence since the days of the segregated south, and I don't see it improving at all. People will believe the most blatant lies if they justify their spiritual cancer. Jesus, repeating the Old Testament command, said that we should love our neighbor as ourself. He also said "“You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.’ But I say to you: Do not resist an evildoer. But if anyone strikes you on the right cheek, turn the other also" Matthew 5:38-39 Clearly this kind of thinking is retreating quickly in today's society. We, as a nation, are getting farther and farther away from Christian ethics. If nothing changes, we will go the way that other societies have gone: descending into chaos and ruin.
  18. Trump deserves to go to prison for multiple crimes. As I'm sure you're aware, several people have received lengthy prison sentences for their participation in the insurrection. Hopefully, Trump will follow or at least be prevented from seeking office because of the 14th Amendment. Meanwhile, he will have to be tried for his other crimes. I hope that he receives the maximum punishments when he is convicted!
  19. It WAS an insurrection. The people were NOT "for the most part peaceful" and the vast majority did NOT si9mply walk through the building. They may be what Fox News claims after editing thousands of hours of footage, but that simply isn't true. I and millions of others watched the attack on the Capitol and the Congress live on TV. The Congresspeople had to run for their lives! There was a deliberate attempt to overthrow the government by preventing Congress from certifying the vote of the delegates. Thankfully, Mike Pence had enough courage and sense to reconvene the Congress to certify the vote! I have no comment on the rest of your post. I don't know what your source of information is, but it is clearly creating propaganda. The January 6th Committ6ee held extensive hearings (which I watched) and the TRUTH was told by the witnesses they called. Finally, I am glad that Trump and his crowd are being tried in court for the crime of interfering with the election. I am also glad that there is the 14th Amendment to the Constitution that will prevent Trump and other criminals from running for office. I won't even address Trump's other crimes: sexual assault, cheating on his taxes, etc. NOBODY should vote for such a person EVER. He is as far from being a Christian as anyone can possibly get.
  20. Policemen were killed on January 6th. How do you think they died??? The Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol resulted in four deaths of law enforcement officers on that day, and five deaths of law enforcement officers later. The five officers who died later include four who committed suicide and one who died of natural causes. Over 100 D.C. and Capitol police officers were injured defending the Capitol on Jan. 6.
  21. There were many weapons in the hands of the attackers; it doesn't matter how many were actually seized. BTW, Trump ordered the metal detectors to be removed from the Capitol grounds.
