  1. As a Christian, it's impossible to be stagnant. If you're not growing, then you're regression. Which is why, you must put all diligence to growing daily. No matter how little, there must be progress. If you pray for 15mins daily, 3 months ago, you should be doing 30 minutes now. There must be an increase, no matter how small. When you reach a point that you stop growing, dont be decieved, you've started "backsliding". No room for stagnancy in Christianity. The grace of God be with you all. Take heed.
  2. Someone made a comment that praying in tongues helps with depression, and I'll like to say that i agree with him/her. Ofcourse, there are different types/manifestation of depression. My own depression came without any external trigger( no bad occurrence or death of a loved one). But am sure its different for some people. So I'll just like to talk about my own specific case. I've noticed that whenever i spend at least one hour everyday praying in tongues, and i only do Christian activities (except work), like reading the Bible, Christian books, sermons etc my depression disappears. But my problem has always been that, its very difficult for me to live this way for a long period of time. Before 6 months, i always go back to watching movies, sports, games etc and the depression comes back. My point is; i agree totally that praying in tongues, and getting involved in Christian activities exclusively, helps with at least one (if not all) type of depression. I hope this helps someone.
  3. Please, try to read and meditate on 1john4. It will help you tremendously if you can do what is commanded in the chapter
  4. Even though I didn't quite get the answer i was hoping for, the responses have been illuminating. I now know that I'm not alone. One of the major problem with depression is that you see everybody else happy and only you sad and depressed. But, its good to know that you're not alone. A big thank you to everyone that responded to the thread.
  5. Am very interested in this topic. Just 2 nights ago i had a similar dream and didn't know meaning. But in my own dream, the snakes did not bite me. But it was very scary because there were like 10 snakes on the bed with me ( in the dream). And some were even crawling on me.
  6. There are definitely different causes ànd effects of depression. And its very difficult to explain to people especially if it's like the one i have, which does not have a direct environmental cause. If your spouse died and you get depressed, then people understand. Although people often confuse being sad with depression. But when you're depressed without a direct cause then people think you're ungrateful, or just weird. Please, am interested in knowing the "sort of harmony". It might help me.
  7. I've been depressed for over 7years and I've been on medications for about 2years. My question is that does anyone know anybody cured totally from depression? The medications helped in a way, i had attempted to commit suicide before about 5 times( and it was not a call for attention). Now, i dont attempt suicide again, but I still want to die most times. I just want to know if people can be totally cured from depression.
  8. Generally, thoughts come four avenues; 1. God 2. Your regenerated spirit 3. The devil 4. Your flesh( unrenewed mind) Thoughts from the first two can be can be trusted and later ones should be brought unto the obedience of scriptures. Any thought not in line with scriptures should be discarded regardless of whether its from the devil or from your unrenewed mind.
