I usually go by justjake. But since I don't believe in an unconditional security, I thought I would include that as part of my username. We must endure for our salvation, just like the Bible teaches over and over.

In another thread, The following is something I saw elsewhere...what do you all think? X, the letter chi in the Greek for the abbreviation of Khristos or Christ has been used for HUNDREDS of years. In the early Church, say first century, Christians or Xtians would use the X to signify (covertly) that they were His, being that they were under extreme persecution from the likes of Nero. To say that the X is a result of "commercialization" of Christmas is a fallacy proliferated by so-called well-meaning Xtians. Christmas does have SOME of its roots in paganism however, but that is another story for another time. Pronounce Xmas as Christmas if you fear the Lord or simply say, "eks'

Hi Mike, great post. But your question here assumes that everybody watches the HELLavision. I do not. I don't have cable, satalite, or even bunny ears. I keep my TV so I can watch videos and things like that, but I do NOT want to comprimise my walk with God. We can't have a whole lotta hell in our lives and still get to heaven. I am not saying that every Christian should never watch TV, this is a personal choice. I have made mine, while everybody else makes theirs.

catsmeow, I have been posting at The Weather Channel for well over a year now and they used to have an off-topic forum that got many heated debates going. A lot of them were about Christianity and EVILoution. But there are still a few debates going on....especially in the Tropics forum. But The Green Thumb Club is more like a family atmosphere...it is nice to be a member there. I live only 10 minutes from TWC's studio here in Atlanta (Smyrna) GA. -

WOW!!! That makes my head spin!!! ZOWIE!!! Another messageboard that I don't suggest reading (why do I post it then?) is: http://www.iidb.org/vbb/index.php I am a member at Internet Infidels, but have yet to post even once. I get scared. I know it won't do much if any good to try to evangelize there, so I don't know what to do. Maybe God will lead me to someday... -
What is the best way to engage in discussion with the lost? It all starts with prayer. I try to do what Jesus did at the well with the woman. Start up a discussion, thereby establishing rapport. Then look for an opening to shift the conversation to the spiritual realm. If they seem intersted, try to get a read on them to see what direction to go. Then ask them if they have kept the commandments in Exodus 20. Then get them to admit that they have lied, cheated, stolen, commit adultery in their heart.... Then ask them how they will stand before the Judge and admit that they are sinners and not be cast away from God. Then tell them about the forgivness of sins we have in Jesus. NEVER ATTEMPT TO GET A CONVERSION!!!!!!!!!! AIM AT THEIR HEARTS!!!!! God is the One who will bring conviction. You just plant a seed and see how far the conversation will go. The rest is up to God. Any thoughts?

After many debates here at Worthy boards, I have decided that there is absolutely no point in discussing doctrine any longer. If all parties have already decided in their mind that their doctrine is the correct Biblical doctrine, then any discussion will end in frustration and possibly non-Christian behavior. It is my priviladge to (after I learn how to spell correctly), offer a sincere apology to all concerned and ask for forgiveness. I admit that I am not acting like Jesus wants me to. There are verses that deal with stirring up disscension among the brethren and endless debates. We are to avoid them and instead focus on eternal things..........building each other up and equiping us all to evangelize the lost, and comfort your siblings in Christ. So please forgive me for my poor attitude and abrasive personality and join me as we unify in Jesus and seek to bless, not curse, each other. I love you and am sorry. Let us cast off the old and put on the new. Let us start a thread about evanglism and your thoughts on how is the best way to spread the Good News of the forgivness of sins. Are you with me?

Please be aware that there is a difference between God's will and God's plan for your life. God's will has always been the same--to save us from our sins amonst other things like being Christlike and evangelize the lost. God's plan for YOUR life is as different from anybody else's as you are from them. God's plan for your life will include God's will, but it will vary according to where life has you at that moment.

I am not going to enter into or start any debates here, but I will quote something from the Bible: According to Jesus, via the Apostle Paul, true grace that brings salvation will do these two things: 1. save us FROM our sins (not while we enjoy our 'secret sins') 2. make us eager for good WORKS (just like Ephesians 2:10 says, which wasn't quoted)

My father passed away from a heart attack. He smoked cigs and was a sober alcoholic (for only a few years he was sober). I got married on August 23rd, 2003 at 4:00 PM in a small Baptist Church. Thanks for asking. There is nothing I will hide if anyone cares to ask. God bless.

It sure is amazing that I am being attacked personally here. I thought this was a 'Christian' webboard. OH, well. Better luck next time.

HHMMMMMM........... You stated: "we are Baptist" To which I say: "Why are you not a Christian BEFORE you are a "Baptist"? When you stand before God, are you going to claim entrance into heaven because you were a Baptist? Or will it be because you were dedicated to Jesus and His resurrection? And I have NEVER said that you can lose your salvation. My point is that the Scriptures clearly declare the conditional nature of our security. Faith and repentance are required to initiate salvation (and these aren't works), but somehow after that we can abandon the faith and still remain saved? Just how is it that after the initial salvation experience faith and repentance become works then? :x: But it is admirable to be choosy when picking out what you will listen to. Anyway, back to on topic: I say check your motives. If you are using this as an excuse to not go to church, then I would suggest you find out through seeking God and asking Him to reveal to you if this is the case. God doesn't want your excuses, He wants your obedience.

Do churches not have a nursery to assist in taking care of the child? It is in Hebrews (or is it Romans?) that says "Do not forsake meeting together." I can't imagine not serving the Lord with my time. I love Him and want to show Him how much I appreciate His sending His Son to be my Savior. This isn't a 'works salvation' like has been claimed. I love my wife and treat her right and serve her....it isn't because I am trying to 'earn' her love or I am scared that she is going to leave me. I just want to show her how much I love her.

Hi Kevin. Thanks for the kind words. We all have a testimony...it is how Jesus saved us from our sins!!! How He did it individually is just as different as we all are from each other. The greatest testimony is the one who has never strayed away from God. My wife was a virgin until we married. You don't find that in a beautiful 25 year old woman much these days. She did it because she loves Jesus...that is a testimony of the awesomeness of God!

Yes, I have been through a whole lot, and yes, Jesus is the only thing that saved me. Trust me, I only did those bad things because I was hurting really down deep inside. I got into a HUGE fight with my father and my brother the night before dad passed away and we all went to bed extremely angry that night. We were cursing each other and Brian and dad almost came to blows as he tried to leave the house. So the next day I came home from school (I was 14, Brian 16, my dad was 42) and got a grape soda and went into his room to apologize for our fight. Instead of being able to apologize, I found him on the floor of his room, next to the bed. I just stood next to him for about 5 min. not being able to move or think. That sight haunted me for 8 long years. I wanted a release from my pain, so I turned to alcohol. At only 14, I became a weekend drunkard, but by the time I was 17, I was drinking every night of the week. That got old, so I turned to other things. Time passed and nothing satsified me in any way. I just hurt more because i was buring my problems deep inside me. I know what it is like to have no friends and be put into a mental hospital (several times). It is not any good. But THANK GOD I am set free from all that depression and anybody that wants to can copy my testimony and give it to anyone. You can email me at any time and give out my email address to anybody that would like to write to me. I am here for others. The way I look at it, I died on that horrible September evening in 1997 when I attempted suicide, so this is 'borrowed time.' God has a plan for my life and also yours. So let us join together and win some people to Christ and give encouragment and healing to those that are in need!!! Let us love another as Christ loved the Church...there is no other way to live! I love you all.

If you know of any people that would be encouraged by my testimony, feel free to use it for God's glory. It ain't mine to do anything with! Thank you so much for your kind words, they mean a lot to me. I know that God will use me to give encouragement to those who feel like they have no reason to be encouraged. There are no excuses anymore.....just joy and peace from God~ And He even saw fit to give me a BEAUTIFUL and TENDERHEARTED wife!!! Keisha and I were married just over a month ago...August 23rd. She is the most beautiful bride since Eve in the Garden of Eden!!! Here is a link to some pictures of us. THANK YOU, JESUS!!!! (oh, and if you want to, anybody here can email me anytime you want... justjakefox@hotmail.com

Yes, I agree. I might suggest something that may help you. Read a few Psalms every day and when you come across a verse or few that really speak to you at that moment, write them down on a piece of paper and read it at least 25 times that day. Just keep it in your pocket. Some of my favorite ones are: Psalm 37:7 Psalms 130 & 131 Psalm 46:10 Isaiah 41:10 Matthew 11:28-30 I could go on and on, but you will find some that really speak to you. Just remember this above all: Jesus is Lord and He wants to deliver you. He is willing and able.....are you?

All you have to do is hold your hand out and say: "If you wait for 20 billion years life will just pop into existance!" Uh, yea right. There is a book at the Christian store by me that is dedicated to this very subject. If you are interested I will try to look for it tomorrow and give you the title and how to get it. Have a blessed day in the Lord Jesus!!!

I have changed my life because of my commitment to surrender to the Lordship of Jesus Christ. I have been healed of the following: hatred Satanism self-abuse sex addictions severe clinical depression attempted suicide women abuse using people for my personal gain alcohol and drug abuse I could go on, but be assured that I am alive, and full of the joy of the Lord. If you care to read my whole testimony, you can read it below. But first I want you to know that there are a whole lot of people that have been through a lot more then me and have found release. Don't beat yourself up, but build yourself up--in the Lord. He loves you and wants to forgive you. Don't listen to the lies of enemies, but cling to the promises of the Lord. The testimony of Jesus Christ (according to Jake) I thought I should share the things in my life that have brought me to know God personally through His Son, Jesus Christ. I had a wonderful childhood, always on the move to Colorado, Florida, or one of the lakes in Missouri. When I was fourteen years old, my father, at the time just 42, passed away from a heart attack. It was his first one and I was the one to first discover him. I struggled for a long time to recover from it. At first, I reached out for anything that I could that would make me feel better at that time-- instant personal gratification. I tried drinking alcohol but turned into an alcoholic; a buddy of mine had a neighbor that would supply us with all the free booze we could handle. We all went over there everyday after school to drink and party until it was time to go home. This went on for a long time. The newness of that wore off and the depression came back. So I turned to taking drugs. It was something new to block out all the pain I felt by being

I would also say that Job 41 is talking about a fire-breathing dragon. Don't think they exist? Why would the Asian's have it featured so dominantly in their history? I would strongly suggest clicking on the following links to show that there is indeed something very similiar to what we would call a fire-breathing dragon: http://www.linda.net/creation.html http://www.answersingenesis.org/home/area/...12n1_beetle.asp Some dinosaurs have HUGE cavities in their heads. If one of these animals had the 'technology' that the Bombardier beetle has, you would have.... a fire-breathing dragon!!!!

Apology accepted. May God deeply and richly bless each of you as you (and I) search for the fullness of the truth. Yes, God bless, indeed!

He ted! I just want to say that none of my posts in this thread have been directed towards you personally. I see why people are so adimant about the KJV of the Bible (evene if I kan't spel viry guud)--it just may be the best version out there. However....when I come across a website like this, I cringe. And Jack Chick is pretty extreme as well. It is things like this that make me really sad. We are supposed to unite in the fullness of the truth, not divide over what tranlsation we read.

I would like for you to quote me in context and show me where I claimed to be: "a Judge"

Sagz, I must apologize to you. I didn't mean this post to sound like a personal attack. I was merely trying to show you the end result of the penal theory. Please forgive me, none of my post was meant the way you received it. I guess posting over a board leaves out any tone that would have reflected such. Sagz, this is fair enough. But please explain to me how a payment could be nullified until you accept it. If I am a judge and I fine someone $100 for breaking the law, and this person pays it, then the punishment is forever reliquensed (even if my spelling is horrendous!). If Jesus paid the price 2,000 years ago, and universalism is not true, then please explain to me how you have to add faith to the equation. If your sins were paid for already, and yet you need to add something, then there had to be a time where your sins were 'unpaid for' so that you could add personal faith. Does this make sense to you? Sagz, I would like to refer you to the post you made on Sep 24 2003, 05:04 PM in the thread entitled 'SIN' Here is the penal theory which prompted the idea of starting this thread which we are now posting... Sagz, WOOHH MY BUDDY! I never said one time that I think that works earn salvation. But what you say sounds a lot like double predestination. Please correct me if I am wrong, but you seem to be saying that God predetermins our eternal destiny. Is that correct? You stated that faith is required for salvation, and then that God gives faith.... I don't feel the need to reply to the rest of your post.
