Poll: Faith-based tattoo: Have you ever talked to someone with one?

Back "It might even have some advantages for witnessing. If a tattoo on someone's arm leads to a fruitful conversation about the Gospel I say go for it. " HI @Henry_iain It does vary quite a lot from one area to another, but in some Christian families it's very widespread: ........... So, how did it go, @SIC

Hi @SIC Do keep posting Bible verses.............

Hi @Marston Thanks for your participation in the poll. -
What does "until he has put all his enemies under his feet" mean exactly?
farouk replied to Marston's topic in Bible Study
The passage indeed shows what a great victory that the Lord Jesus accomplished at the Cross; similarly, 1 Corinthians 15.57. -

@Marston I guess some you would regard as negative and others positive, right? My wife and I talked to a young lady with the whole of John 3.16 tattooed on her wrist area; she seemed to be quietly confident about it. -

The Philippians 2 passage shows His victorious exaltation. -

Psalm 110 does tie in with the exalted and victorious position of the Lord Jesus foretold by Paul and the writer to the Hebrews. -
Hi @Marilyn C So where is this chart from?

Hi @D. Adrien Back a bit, you said: "Eventually, the markings of being different became mainstream." Ear piercing is a bit like tattoos in that respect, right? -

Hi @Indentured Servant Well, today a lot of young Christians who maybe don't have a tattoo at first, soon get one, such as a Bible verse or ref., etc. My wife and I talked to a young lady with the whole of John 3.16 rammed into her wrist area; and she seemed in fact rather pleased and confident as a tattooed young Christian lady; she had an immediate talking point. -
Hi @Indentured Servant Some ppl think the Millennium is synbolic, but I don't see why it can't be literal........

Hi @NConly For many ppl, it's pretty much expected. ........... Originally posted by Jeni Ruth I guess for our family the question of whether or not to be tattooed was already made as I had 12 tats and my hubby had 4 when we were first saved. Certainly the style and reason for our tats changed after being saved. Five of our 6 kids are also inked [ages 28-35] .. (from Christian hyphen tattoos dot com ) ......... Whatever the original reason was for going in for one; or else whatever the reason years later is for getting another; for many ppl it's very much expected, in any case... Some ppl really like to talk about their tattoos (as you have probably found); but even so, they won't necessarily think the same now about them as they maybe did years ago..... -

@In the Clouds Interesting way of putting it; although for so many these days becoming illustrated, i.e., tattooed, represents the transition from being a girl to being a woman, it's clear this was never your wish. Blessings. -
HI @In the Clouds I am reminded of 2 Thessalonians 2.7: "For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way."

What is a way that you spend time with God each day?

HI @A Freeman Thanks for your post. It's interesting that in Isaiah 44.5 the KJV has: "One shall say, I am the Lord's; and another shall call himself by the name of Jacob; and another shall subscribe with his hand unto the Lord..." ESV: "This one will say, ‘I am the Lord's,’ another will call on the name of Jacob, and another will write on his hand, ‘The Lord's,..." NASB: "This one will say, ‘I am the Lord’s’; And that one will call on the name of Jacob; And another will write on his hand, ‘Belonging to the Lord,’ ..." CSB: 'This one will say, ‘I am the Lord’s’; another will use the name of Jacob; still another will write on his hand, ‘The Lord’s,’ and take on the name of Israel.” (I have restricted the quotations to versions which are more formal.) It has been commented: 'Here a tattoo appears to be allowable as a sign of submission, not to a human master but to God.' (biblestudytools dot org) -
Great verses there; prayer and the Scriptures indeed help us to keep 'looking unto Jesus' (Hebrews 12.2).

@nebula Evidently others - like you - have given it a great deal of thought also. It's likely a lot more to do with what the person - M or F - expects to express in a tattoo. -
@D. Adrien KJV says, 'strong meat' there in Hebrews 5.14.......
