So just a few minutes ago I was scrolling through instagram, i came across a post of a christian man asking a few questions...
I commented under his video...
The pharisees were believers in God who were stead fast to the traditions of their fathers, so when Jesus came to them they did not recognize him. If you could see the Pharisees today, you wouldn't call them evil men but religious and traditional men, then started to answer his question; When they prayed it was directed towards the Father (In the temple of God). Then, I asked him if Jesus appeared to you now will you recognize him, Mary didn't recognize Jesus by face after the resurrection but by his voice. We only know Jesus by his word, we didn't have the opportunity to meet him like they did, so how will you fare when tested? To detour the conversations from convicting the pharisees, to avoiding their same mistake. It's easy to say Adam shouldn't have eaten the apple after reading Genesis but who would have done better than him other than Jesus?
The man didn't understand my response and told me I am of the devil, and quoted scripture. He said Jesus and the Father are one so what God told them the revelation Jesus is not the messiah. (He was saying they weren't praying to the father because Jesus and the Father are one.)
The man isn't wrong in his questioning but his temper blocked the message I was trying to convey to him. I told him two scriptures...
I wanted to declare I am a christian too and God's glory isn't in the words of men but the word that is spirit that gives life and clarity when it is spoken. He was seeking to debate me on other topics after I answered his question.
I am sharing this conversation to ask if there was anything I could have done better to answer his question?
How would you have answered this mans question? ("Who were the Pharisees praying too?")
I'm also sharing this because I feel it's necessary to share something that i felt was made clear to me, it's not all the time that people of the world will be the one who calls you out, but fellow believers who also proclaim Christ. And it is true what the lord said, Ephesians 6:12 "For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places." So I guess in these moments we have to hold our anger and understand we are playing a small role in God's plan for that person.
