My appologies to everyone. I left out the strongs referance numbers; Salmon - h4533 - raiment; a garment Booz - h1003 - in him is strength Rachab - h4477- wide Obed - h5601 - serving Ruth - h4503 - a female friend Jesse - h2421 - wealthy (Older printings of the Strong's define the name "extant") Extant means to be vsible or prominant. Matt 1:6 And Jesse begat David the king; and David the king begat Solomon of her that had been the wife of Urias; The Strong's begat - g1080 - to be born (naturally), as a metaphor - a) to engender, to cause to arise, excite b) in a Jewish sense, of one who brings others over to his way of life, to convert someone, c) of God making Christ his son, d)of God making men his sons through faith in Christ. Jesse - h2421 - wealthy (Older printings of the Strong's define the name "extant") Extant means to be vsible or prominant. David - h1138 - loving Solomon - h4672 - peaceful her = Bathsheba - h1339 - daughter of the oath Urias - h3774 - light of Jehovah 1:6 And wealthy, visible and prominant (Jesse) caused loving (David) the king to arise; and loving (David) the king caused peaceful (Solomon) to arise out of daughter of the oath (Bathsheba) that had been the wife of light of God (Urias); Being honest with myself, I see in the verse with the meanngs employed, organized religion as it is today. Organized religion is wealthy. She is visible to the world, and prominant in it, while keeping Christianity in the background, hidden behind her back. David was the exception to the rule of his day, a man after God's own heart. Love produced from religion does the same sin David did, on a higher level. Religious love brings false peace, because it COMMITS SPIRITUAL ADULTRY with her YESHUA"S CHURCH, who HAD BEEN the WIFE of THE LIGHT OF GOD, (Yeshua).

Matt 1:5 And Salmon begat Booz of Rachab; and Booz begat Obed of Ruth; and Obed begat Jesse; The Strong's begat - g1080 - to be born (naturally), as a metaphor - a) to engender, to cause to arise, excite b) in a Jewish sense, of one who brings others over to his way of life, to convert someone, c) of God making Christ his son, d)of God making men his sons through faith in Christ. Salmon - - raiment; a garment Booz - - in him is strength Rachab - - wide Obed - - serving Ruth - - a female friend Jesse - - wealthy (Older printings of the Strong's define the name "extant") Extant means to be vsible or prominant. Read with the meanigs; 1:5 And raiment, a garment (Salmon) caused in him is strength (Booz) to arise out of wide (Rachab); and in him is strength (Booz) caused serving (Obed) to arise out of a female friend (Ruth); and serving (Obed) caused to arise wealthy, visible and prominant (Jesse); My thoughts: As in the previous verses, each name represents a generaton of people in general. In this verse, I hear in the meanings 4 gegerations following ENCHANTERS. If it happens to be ENCHANTERS who convert the people who clothe the church, those who are in turn coverted by that "raiment" generation can find no other strength that that strength found through the wide door that leadsto distruction. That strength is not strength at all, but only deception - of self, and by others. The strength of deception produces the righteousness of men, which is as dirty rags. They faithfully serve religion, but do not serve God according as God has commanded we worship him in spirit and in truth. This sort of service does produce wealth, visibility and prominance before the nation, but only according t the works of false prophets, which can not save.

Hello again, A precept is a general rule regulating behavior and thought. The word originated from the Latin praeceptum "something advised." In the meaning of names in Matt 1:2 I find 2 precepts, 2 peices of advice; Begat laughter, joy, bring others over to godly joy. Begat supplanters, replace false doctrines with truth The meanings in Matt 1:3 advses me that; I must choose to worship God according to HIS WAY, in spirit and in truth. The man who is determined to worship God in HIS OWN WAY causes a BREACH betwen himself and God. Matt 1:4 And Aram begat Aminadab; and Aminadab begat Naasson; and Naasson begat Salmon; The Strong's begat - g1080 - to be born (naturally), as a metaphor - a) to engender, to cause to arise, excite b) in a Jewish sense, of one who brings others over to his way of life, to convert someone, c) of God making Christ his son, d)of God making men his sons through faith in Christ. Aram - h689 - high Aminadab - h284 - one of the prince's people Naasson - h3476 - enchanter Salmon - h4533 - raiment; a garment With the meanings; 1:4 And high (Aram) converted one of the prince's people (Aminadab); and one of the prince's people (Aminadab) converted enchanter (Naasson); and enchanter (Naasson) converted raiment; a garment (Salmon) Thoughts provoked within myself: A generation that is exalted of itself, represented by Aram, descends from A BREACH from God. While living under their own BREACH OF CONTRACT, they convert the principal people of the land into breaching the contract. The principal people of the land recruit their own enchanters of the people. And the people in general allow themselves to be enchanted, believing a BEACH OF GOD'S COVENANT to be obedience to him. And A BREACH OF GOD's COVENANT becomes the garment of the churches. These people were in general moving farther and farther away from God rather than toward him.In every example in the bible, when the eople moved away from God, it was THE ELDERS and CHIEF PRIESTS, who not only allowed it to happen, but even encouraged it to happen without always realizing that they were not in the will of God.

Matt 1:3 And Judas begat Phares and Zara of Thamar; And Phares begat Esrom; and Esrom begat Aram The Strong's begat - g1080 - to be born (naturally), as a metaphor - a) to engender, to cause to arise, excite b) in a Jewish sense, of one who brings others over to his way of life, to convert someone, c) of God making Christ his son, d)of God making men his sons through faith in Christ. Judas - h2455 - he shall be raised, (celebrated as in worship) Phares - h5329 - a breach Zara - h2196 - a rising (as the sun) Thamar - h2283 - palm tree Phares and Zara were Judah's twin sons by his daughter-in-law, the wife of both Er (watchful) and Onan (strong). (These meanings according to the Smith's). Both of these men were wicked in the eyes of the Lord. Esrom - h2074 - enclosed Aram - h689 - high Reading wirh the meanings applied; 1:1 And he shall be praised, celebrated as in worship (Judah) caused a breach (Phares) and a rising as the sun (Zara) to arise (out of) palm tree (Thamar); and a breach (Phares) cased to arise enclosed (Esrom); and enclsed (Esrom) caused to arise high (Aram) By using the meanings of names in this verse, I am made to understand that that it is THE MAN WHO WORSHIPS GOD who causes A BREACH between God and the people, while at the same time causing the rising up of enlightenment of God among those same people. Both the breach and the enlightenment arise out of something mankind judges to be upright and honorable among men. The breach is produced by the righteousness of MEN, righteousness that is as dirty rags in the sight of God. Because he worships God the way he wants to worship God instead of the way God wants to be worshipped. Having caused a breach between himself and God, the man who has doe it then encloses himself in deception, both by self and by others, and in that deception, exalts himself. Meanwhile, spiritual enlightenment rises up out of the righteousness of God AFTER it has entered into the hearts of men. (If ENLIGHTENMENT had caused the people to be enclosed in the righteousness of God, exalting the people in that righteousness, would God have needed to send Yeshua to save us from unrighteousness, otherwise known to us as sin? )

I'm very happy you all did this. My 2 cents would only repeat. living soul = life emotion , controled or unconroled = spirit, either holy or evil

Matt 1:2 Abraham begat Isaac; and Isaac begat Jacob, and Jacb begat Judas and his brethren; The Strong's begat - g1080 - to be born (naturally), as a metaphor - a) to engender, to cause to arise, excite b) in a Jewish sense, of one who brings others over to his way of life, to convert someone, c) of God making Christ his son, d)of God making men his sons through faith in Christ. Isaac - h2464 - to laugh Jacob - h2384 - heel-catcher, supplanter Judas - h2455 - he shall be praised (older printings of the Strong's give "celebrated as in worship) brethren - g80 - same parets one or both, same national ancestor, same people, countrymen fellow believer, united by bond of affection, an employment associate brethren to Christ; a)by blood b)mankind c)apostles d)Christians, as those who are exalted to the SAME heavenly places With the meanings applied, I hear this; 1:2 Father of a multitude (Abraham) caused joy, laughter (Isaac) to arise; and joy, laughter (Isaac) caused supplanter (Jacob) to arise; and supplanter (Jacob) caused he shall be praised (Judah) and his fellow believers to arise. The thought that is provoked by the verse read this way is: In the scriptures, we are ADVISED to hold fast to our joy (who is Yeshua), and to allow the truth (who is also Yeshua), to supplant all false doctrines. Accomplishing this is great cause to praise God the Father. We are told that God inhabits the praises of HIS people, so he is living among us when our praise of God is sincere. And when God is among us through our obedience to praise him, WE rse up VICTORIOUS.

Matthew 1:1 The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham. People were as sceptical and unbelieving in Matthew's day as they are in this present generaton. So, as I see this, Matthew made certain that everyone who might read this book of the gospel would know exactly who he was writing about. Matthew traced the geneology of Yeshua Christ back as far as Abraham. This verse has the effect of telling the reader that Matthew is quoting the book of public records of Yeshua's human ancestry. But there is also a spiritual aspect in the geneology of our Lord, involving both the spirit of love and the spirit of hate. The bible tells us that the blessings of them that love God continue unto a thousand generations, and the sins of the fathers are vested unto the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate God. Vested means compound interest recognised as belonging to a certain individual, a personal stake in an undertaking or state of affairs. The fact that this nation is steeping in sin today should be a sign of the times that is a wake-up call to all professing Christians that we have not loved God, even though we have convinced ourselves that we do. For that reason, I seek to understand the "spiritual geneology" of the ancestry of my Lord. The Hebrew people named their childen after events and circumstances at their births, and because of that I need to know the meanings of names. Meanings from the Strong's generation - g1078 - source, origin Jesus - h2424 - Jehovah is salvation (earlier printings - Jehovah saved) Christ - g5547 - anointed, consecrated to office of service through contanct David - h1138 - loving Abraham - h11 - father of a multitude If we read the verse with the meanings applied, we hear the spiritual message rather than the natural one. Doing so does not change the scriptures, but MAGNIFIES them. 1:1 The book of the source (Mary) and the origin (Holy Spirit) of Jehovah is salvation (Yeshua), anointed of God and consecrated to office of service (to God) through contact (with God), the son of loving (David), the son of father of a multitude (Abraham). The thought that is provoked within me is this; The word --- spoken by prophets of God, just as God had spoken it to them --- became flesh. The SPOKEN, vocalized, promise of God MANIFESTED, just as it had been spoken in prophesy.

Hello All, It is my hope that each post will tell only the things that each of us have learned from the verses in Matthew 1. The reason is that each person has a level of spiritual growth and understanding unique only to himself/herself, for the very simple reason that each individual has his own thinking process. Each of us has learned some things that are true according to the Lord, and each of us has also learned things in error. So, when each of us post, there will likely be within each one things that are true and things that are in error. Because some of us have been taught straight from the scriptures, and some have been taught by true prophets of God, and some have been taught by false prohets. For that reason I ask; Please refrain from debate, and from contention, and especially refrain from accusations against one another. I look forward to hearing fresh insights from each who choose to partcipate in this type of study. Several years ago that quiet voice within the coscience, that we call the still small voice of the Lord, impressed upon my conscience again and again that if I knew the meanings of names of people and places in the scriptures, I would have a much better understanding of what is written there. Finding that to be true, employing the meanings of names became a major tool in my personal method of study. A precept is ageneral rule regulating behavior and thought. The word originated from the Latin praeceptum "something advised." I also found that studying the scriptures line upon line, verse upon verse, in the order in which they were written in each chapter, increased my overall understanding of the life examples foud there. Therefoe, ADVICE upon ADVICE, and line upon line, finding a little knowledge here and a little knowledge there, I study strictly from the scriptures, for that is how it must be. (Isa28:10-12) (Isa28:13-15 refers to those who would not hear precept upon precept and line upon line.) Anything I learn from mankind MUST confirm what I learn from scripture, before I can accept it. I can see and understand the geneology from the natural point of view as well as anyone else. But I was also interested in understanding the spiritual aspects of the geneology. I will present what I have learned in my study of Mattew beginning with Matthew 1:1 in another post. My husband needs the telephone right now. Anne

OneAccord,Sep 10 2003, 09:25 AM] Yes, I understand this also. I have also recently learned that the mustard seed will not allow itself to be horticulturaly ingrafted. Man can not produce from it an hybrid seed. So the faith that the mustard seed has toward God has nothing to do with the size of that faith, but that it is STEADFAST FAITH(fulness). Each congregation is also represented in scripture as a tree. John explained this while baptizing men unto repentance. Every tree that does not bring forth good fruit will be cut down and cast into the fire. If only ONE entire congregation would have the steadfast faith of the mustard seed, that congregation would grow in GODLY strength, rather than growing in DENOMINATIONAL strength, and even the birds of the (prince of the power of the) air would come and sit in it's branches to become mustard seed themselves.

Jesus told us that whatsoever we SAY believing, will be given to us by the Father in heaven. And WHATSOEVER does not exempt ANYTHING. So that the final effect of our own murmuring and complaining is that we each have defiled ourselves, because God gave us what we said in belief

Having heard the concern in all of your "voices", I would like to call your attention to each of the parables that speak of the Kingdom of Heaven. The Vineyard, tares and wheat, the wedding dinner, 10 virgins, etc. -- In the telling of each one, Jesus prophesied what the entire body of organized religion exhibits today. The vineyard keepers were enemies of the owner, and did not try to hide that fact. It was the people from the streets who actually came to the wedding feast. The five virgins who had extra oil for their lamps actually KNEW the Lord well enough that they were prepared AS PER HIS INSTRUCTIONS. And the tares WERE SOWED BY AN ENEMY WHILE THE (fore)FATHERS SLEPT, while Peter and John and Paul have been sleeping in their graves. Now, imho, if tares have been SOWED by an ENEMY, then the enemy has come into every denomination and has SOWED generation after generation of TARES who believe that they are authentic Christians. In First Samuel 3 & 4, The Lord God sent judgement upon the house of Eli for the sin that Eli already KNEW ABOUT. Does the judgement of God not begin in the pulpit?
