This is scheduled to be voted upon on Wednesday, January 25. Please keep these elected officials in prayer, that they may bring glory to God and that they may be strong enough to stand for what is right.

Please email or call your State Representative to say you oppose S1074 An Act Relative to Charities in Massachusetts. This bill, which has already passed in the Senate, will financially and administratively burden our synagogues. Despite the fact that the underlying concern focuses solely on the institutions affiliated with one particular faith, this legislation impacts all religious institutions. In fact, the bill would have a far greater impact on Protestant, Jewish and Muslim institutions than on Catholic institutions. This is because the Archidiocese is the legal entity for the Catholic Church and therefore the only one subject to the bill's requirements, while in the other religions each separate synagogue, church, or mosque is the entity subject to the requirements. In addition to the financial and administrative burden, we believe that there is a threat to the separation of church and state. You may go directly to this site to locate your Representative: http://www.wheredoivotema.com/bal/ myelectioninfo.php, or if you know who to contact, go to http://www.mass.gov/legis/ for email/ phone information. Please contact the leadership within the next day or two. Urge them to listen to the wide range of voices in the inter-religious community of Massachusetts that oppose this bill and to prevent its passing. Here's an idea of what you might want to say: "I am writing to let you know of my opposition to the Walsh Bill (MA S1074). This bill would impose a significant and unanticipated financial burden on all religious congregations in this state. This is an egregious violation of the separation of church and state. Please vote against this bill." In addition to calling your own Representative, it would help to call Speaker of the House, Sal DiMasi, at 617-722-2500 or CC him at Rep.SalvatoreDiMasi@hou.state.ma.us. We also encourage every synagogue and religious organization in the Commonwealth to call Senator Marian Walsh, author of the bill, informing her of your strong opposition to this legislation: 617-722-1348. Opponents of S1074 include The Massachusetts Council of Churches whose members are seventeen Orthodox and Protestant churches / denominations; the Massachusetts Catholic Conference; the Islamic Council of New England; the Massachusetts Association of Temple and Synagogue Administrators; the Synagogue Council of Massachusetts, the Union for Reform Judaism - Northeast Council, the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism - New England Region, the Black Ministerial Alliance; the Massachusetts Family Institute; and the Christian Science Church. FAQ's About the Legislation: S.1074 and S.2267- Church Financial Scrutiny Bills What will this legislation do? This legislation would strip all the currently existing religious exemptions from the state's reporting statutes. Who will have to file? Because the four Roman Catholic dioceses operate as a corporation sole

The Massachusetts senate has passed a bill (S2267) that would put churches under the authority of the state attorney general. It is now with the MA House and a vote is expected soon. This bill would require churches report all finances and expenditures (which has been estimated to cost upwards of $15k per church - $3m for the Catholic church in MA alone ) and allow the state attorney general to review all expenditures and determine if they are in keeping with each church's doctrine and mission. Yes, you read that right. The state will have direct oversight of all churches and ministries. This bill is a clear violation of the often touted "Seperation of Church and State" which has been used too frequently to strip any hint of religion from any public areas. We have seen the inclination of the MA politicians and their blatant aggression toward anything of a religious nature. Now they have dropped any pretenses of fairness and civility and are going after the churches directly. I am asking for your help to bring this issue into the public arena in order to make as many people aware of this as possible. RFID is already in many poducts you buy right now! Do you use Gillette razors? How about Duracell batteries? Yup, they already have them. In a Brockton, MA WalMart, they've already tested a smart-shelf prototype that can detect when a large quantity of RFID tagged product is removed at one time and take a surveilance photo at that time. Should cut down on stealing. Do you purchase anything at WalMart or Target? Every pallet that is delivered into one of their distribution centers is identified by RFID. This may remove the need for 7 day receiving allowing more people to not have to work Sundays as receiving time is reduced. I also heard that the bar-code we now all take for granted was the mark of the beast. But there is no talk of this today. But did you know that each and every barcode contains the number 666? It is true. The bar code symbol for the digit 6 is used as an indicator of beggining, middle, and end; it lets the laser know where to start reading. more info RFID is just an advancement of technology. The technology itself is not the problem. It is how man chooses to use the technology that presents the risk.

We already have a de facto national ID - your state issued drivers license. Just try getting onto an airplane here in the US without one....
-
I understand the fear of "Big Brother" watching everything a person does, but I agree with the idea of a national ID card. To vote you'll have to present an ID. (so much for voting often! ) Why is this bad? To receive federal benefits you'll have to present an ID card. Why is this bad? To legally get a job in the US, you'll have to present an ID card. Why is this bad? To receive the benefits of citizenship you'd have to present an ID card. Why is this bad?

Jesus Christ in legal battle to get license
NeTrips replied to O'Dannyboy's topic in General Discussion
While I originally joined many here in taking offense to what this person has done with his name, stop for one minute and think more about it. If this man's actions are making the faithful take time to write down their objections, wow. Just think, what affect may it have on those without faith? If it makes one person stop and begin a relationship with Christ, is it worth it? What if a stranger near you read the story and said something like "Who is this Jesus guy?" What a fantastic opportunity! If one person turns to God after crossing paths with this man, I think the cheering in Heaven will drown out any of our objections.... -
old post I know, but man, how can any list like this leave out John Courson? I got to see him this winter when he came out for a marriage retreat. This man is on fire!

Found this in my inbox this morning: Day of Truth a Success The Alliance Defense Fund's Day of Truth is being hailed as a success, with the group reporting Monday that the Thursday event drew students at 357 schools internationally. "The excitement and interest in our first Day of Truth exceeded anything we could have imagined, Alliance Defense Fund (ADF) Senior Counsel Joseph Infranco said. "This shows there was clearly a need for a caring Christian response to the Day of Silence." The Day of Silence -- held nationwide Wednesday -- involved students taking a day-long vow of silence in high schools and universities to protest "discrimination" against homosexuals. In the Day of Truth, held the next day, students were encouraged by ADF to hand out cards and wear shirts proclaiming God's message for those struggling with homosexuality -- it is contrary to Scripture and can be overcome. "I still disagree with your views, and I always will," wrote one observer of the Day of Truth to ADF. "However, you've expressed your views in a polite and forthright manner, without being confrontational, and I wanted to tell you that I very much appreciate that."

1Cr 13:1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become [as] sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.

1Cr 13:1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become [as] sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. Without love, the gifts of the spirit are empty. When paul wrote to the Galatians he declared that the fruit of the Holy Spirit is love. And there are examples of believers receiving the Holsy Spirit without any evidence of speaking in tongues. Acts 8 - the Samaritan beleivers received the Holy Spirit but there was no mention of tongues. Acts 9:17 no mention again of tiongues when Annanias laid hands on Saul.

I don't read this the same way. Read it again: 1st Paul laid hands on them 2nd the Holy Ghost came on them 3rd they spoke in tongues 4th they prophesied Just by reading what is written, as it is written, you can't make the argument that they didn't have the Holy Spirit until they spoke in tongues. Clearly the order reveals they had the Holy Spirit before they could speak in tongues. How can you receive the gifts of the spirit before receiving the spirit?
