  1. munari, 1. I did find an oncologist who takes my insurance, but most of the doctors that were recommended to me did not take insurance and most alternative medicine doctors are not covered by insurance, only surgery, chemo and radiation. 2. Psycho-Oncology focuses on two aspects of cancer; the psychosocial impacts of cancer on the quality of life of the patient, family and staff, and the role that psychosocial and behavioral factors may play in cancer risk and survival.
  2. I am so sorry to hear about your husband. As you probably read on this board, I also had cancer. A person is particularly valnerable at this time and will turn to anyone promising a cure. I read so many books about cancer during the time I had it because the doctors know very little about it, only how to operate and to administer chemo/radiation. They couldn't even advise me what to eat, let alone what to think. We need to give cancer patients more information. What kind of counselor was it? I went to a counselor but she wasn't very helpful, she didn't know anything about psycho-oncology. It's hard to find anyone who does, so I ended up reading a lot of mixed information and praying and getting my own answers. I called one doctor who was "good", but he didn't take any insurance and charged $500.00 per a visit. How many people can afford to go to him with all the treatements? It's a very hard situation. So I had to give it to God and learn how to trust Him in sustaining me. How is your husband doing now? So I will agree about phsychology, I don't think it's very helpful, plus world psychology is so different from Christian pshychology. Oh, did you say your husband went to a Christian counselor and that's what got him into trouble? What did s/he do to him? What about psychiatry though? Is it the same thing?
  3. I don't know yet if I am going to go, I am just praying for God's guidance and see if Christian hypnotists exist out there, so I am not defending hypnotism, just surching for answers. For example, I went through 3 surgeries last year during which I was under anasthesia, isn't that dangerous, how come evil spirits didn't jump into me? In my research I found that the word "hupnos" was used in Acts, where it states the results of being filled with the Holy Spirit. It was used in the context of "your old men shall dream dreams" in the hupnos state. I realized the hypnotic state is simply a state in which the subconscious mind can be directly accessed and that all people go in and out of this state quite frequently. To be continued....
  4. You guys have to give me reasons. It sounds like y'all spooked.
  5. Angels, thank you for your concern, but there is nothing to worry about. I will try to find a Christian hypnotist. Do you think it's wrong?
  6. THanks, FHA! I am sure God will lead me to the right thing!
  7. How can demons come in if you are asleep? Does the Holy Spirit leaves you?
  8. I was trying to do a search on christian hypnotists, and I am only getting articles like this so far: http://www.rapidnet.com/~jbeard/bdm/Psychology/hypno.htm
  9. One must not work out in the evening if one plans on going to sleep. It will keep you awake.
  10. I'll try it! Thanks. Good advise about only going to Christian therapists.
  11. Thank you for your advise and prayers, everyone. I have a question: would you advise the same about a psychotherapist and a hypnotherapist? Or is there a difference?
  12. catsmeow, it may be the case, I never had any problems with my sleep before. It's amazing how it just came. But, I read so much about sleeping problems, it seems more and more people have it and it's hard to believe that all of them suffer from hormonal changes. So I am not sure, maybe it's a combination of things. Newsweek did interesting article on it, new studies and so on, they found it has something to do with the brain. Hormones are governed by the brain anyway. So I thought I would go to the hypnotist. Traveller, thank you for your prayers. For the past 5 years I've tried everything. It's just a disorder now. I can't sleep without the pill any more. I will try praying more and ask God what I should do.
  13. THanks, everybody! I will pray for a cure instead.
  14. Thanks, shadow, I appreciate your opinion very much. I haven't gone yet, when I said "I finally mustered up the courage to go a hypnotist" I meant I was going to make an appointment. But I did realize that I wasn't sure about it and needed to think about it some more. You think it's unsafe?
  15. I have been suffering from insomnia for about 5 years and have been on sleep medication, on and off for 4 years, and permament for the past year. It bothers me not to be able to go to sleep without a pill (I tried). Finally, I mustered up the courage to go and try hypnosis, but there is still a doubt in my head about it being okay for a Christian to go to a hypnotist. I don't think it will be helpful to have doubts and go, I best make sure and clear it up before I go or not go at all. What do you all think about going to a hypnotist for a medical problem when the doctors are unable to help?
  16. And what about president Bush, is he relying on the Holy Spirit?
  17. Just wanted to add that it is also good for our helth to be positive. Burnie Segal writes in one of his books on cancer cure, to adopt a "Forgiving and Thanksgiving" mode if we want to be healthy.
  18. I spoke up today, but I am not sure I said the right thing. I called a lady who used to work with us, but was laid off, I heard she was ill and depressed. She was so glad to hear from me and tried to cheer her up and said I'd pray for her and she should also pray and ask God for help, there is no shame in needing help. She said she didn't have anyone, I said she had God, a person can not always be with her even if she had anyone, like I had a loving son who cheered me up, but he couldn't be with me on the operating table but God was there. She seemed to agree and said she would pray. Now I am worried about who she will pray to. Should unbeliever first pray for his salvation before s/he prays for help?
  19. I think my problem is that I am embarrased to look hollier than thou. I have it in my mind that I am supposed to shine for the Lord and show His Spirit. Maybe I am wrong and need to speak up.
  20. Do you believe in revelations and if yes, then through the word only?
  21. How can we learn God's mind?
  22. Can we pray for anything or is there a limitation on what we can ask God?
  23. God has never broken me, he always built me up.
  24. I thought this was goinh to be about the tighing. You think there are a lot of Christians that get overwhelmed by greed and cheat on their statements? I can't imagine that. What standards are we to apply in business dealings, perhaps you mean much higher standards than plain honesty?
