So, the Amish can't be guilty of saying or doing hurtful things? Doesn't make me think anything other than they aren't perfect....just like me. JMO

My eldest sons girlfriend asked that very question the other night. I reached for my Bible to find some scripture to help my daughter with something that was troubling her. My sons girlfriend asked..."what's that"? The door had opened for me to speak to her about Jesus Praise God!

Roles in Church for the divorced Christian
PwrInTheBld replied to David from New Bern's topic in General Discussion
Their marital status should have nothing to do with their service in the church. I am aware that there are those who use the verses in Timothy and Titus that "...an elder should be the husband of one wife" to mean that a pastor should not be divorced. But that is a gross misinterpretation. What it means is that in that day when polygamy was a common practice (even among some who became Christians) the church leader should have only one wife. But there are still those in the Church who try to make second class citizens out of divorced people. Well said. -
Scientists say Jesus didn't exsist.....scientists say Jesus existed "but" ....and this thread has talked about the two news articles making reference to Jesus this week.

I can't remember if I saw this in a post on the board before the changes or if I saw it somewhere else but this might help you in your choice of TV shows.......of anything really. If Jesus Came Back Today Would you have to change your clothes before you let Him in? Or hide some magazines, and put the Bible where they'd been? Would you hide your worldly music and put some hymn books out? Could you let Jesus walk right in, or would you rush about? And I wonder...if the Savior spent a day or two with you, Would you go right on doing the things you always do? Would you go right on saying the things you always say? Or would life for you continue as it does from day to day? Would you take Jesus with you everywhere you go? Or would you maybe change your plans for just a day or so? Would you be glad to have Him meet your closest friends? Or would you hope they stay away until His visit ends? Would you be glad to have Him stay forever on and on? Or would you sigh with great relief when He at last was gone? It might be interesting to know, the things that you would do, If Jesus came in person, to spend some time with you. ~Author Unknown~ Would you have to change the channel you're watching?

A Gucci wallet may be pretty (I don't know, I've never seen one) but it won't hold any more money, credit cards or photos than my dollar store wallet will I don't know about designers being "evil"......they're making a living with the talent God gave them. Do they know Jesus? How do they live their lives? What do they do with the money they earned? Elitism and snobbery have been around much longer than high fashion......that's the individual, not a designer. I don't think it's wrong to want or have "nice" things but, they are just "things". In the end, they don't matter. This makes me think of a line from one of my favorite songs ~"If I should ask for things I want, just give me what I need" ~

I have to disagree with this part. Computers are. I think there are far more dangers with computers than there are with TV shows. You can't take your TV to work with you yet people post on Worthy from home and work. This is just my opinion but unless you're on your break or you own the company, isn't that stealing company time.....regardless of it being a Christian forum? When I say "you", I mean people in general. I don't watch very much TV so I doubt it would be very hard for me to go without but it wouldn't go over well with the kids.

It looks like Indiana isn't the only place getting tornadoes in No
PwrInTheBld replied to mrs's topic in World News
Yes, Hamilton is in southern Ontario, Canada. Environment Canada confirmed it to be an F1 tornado today. Of course the people who saw the large black funnel cloud already knew what it was and didn't think it took Environment Canada to confirm it. Hamilton Tornado Here's Another Shot -

Abercrombie & Fitch to pull tees after "girl-cott"
PwrInTheBld replied to Constant's topic in U.S. News
Brother, I'm not easily offended in general nor am I offended by anything you said in particular I simply stated in my post, facts that were not clearly indicated in the OP which in turn, cause people to make assumptions. Perhaps I should have put emphisis on certain words to make my point? Thank you for the other article that points out who exactly made the "girl-cott" statement. As I said, this is NOT what was in the posted article.....simple fact. I still do not see in the original article or in the second one you've provided, where it's stated that these girls were upset only because of the "who needs brains" part and not the "when you have these" part. Another simple fact. Maybe I'm missing something because I'm not a woman's libber or feminist or whatever it's called??? I think as a mother first, then I think of myself. When I mentioned these shirts to my 19 year old son this afternoon, he laughed and said "that's hilarious" which to me was disappointing but, I said to him "There's nothing funny about it. Would you want your sister walking around in something like that?" His reply was a quick "NO!....that's different." To be honest, when I saw the name "Abercrombie & Fitch".....I thought it was a law firm. I've never heard of them and quite frankly, I'm glad they aren't around my area. I wonder how many people working for this company give these shirts as gifts to their wives, daughters, sisters etc....... Regardless, this is just another example of profit made with dirty minds at the expense young girls.....oops is that a feminist comment?
