  1. I'm not that familar with this, but being able to shoot fleeing drug smugglers seems like a good idea to me..
  2. Bush being reelected has more to do with him having the good fortune of running against someone like Kerry than anything else. Over 70% of Americans now are against the war and do not believe it has been worth its costs. Now, back to the thread, I don't know yet whether military action against Iran will be necessary or not, we still have even with the worst case estimates about 3 years before they will have the nuclear materials for even one bomb. If we get closer to that point, and if we still have good reason to believe that Iran intends to use that device against the U.S. or our allies, then we will have to act. Let me ask you this forrest, as an aside. If Bush manages to stabilize Iraq, what percentage of Americans do you think will then say it was worth the sacrifice and support Bush for what he did?
  3. Its interesting that you brought up prophecy Stephen. It may not matter what we think we should do, it will happen...
  4. i have often thought, that even though the Bible represents the true Word of God, it was written so that the intelligence of man, at the time, could understand it. Could you imagine God using Big Bang, DNA, etc in the writing of Genesis? Those people would have asked for an encyclopedia, of course they would have had to know what an encyclopedia was to ask for it...
  5. This gets down to the question of what is Just War from a Christian Perspective. Now, lets look at what Christians opposed military action in Iraq. Total them up, and you have about 90% of the world's 2 billion Christians. A just war according to the majority of the world's Christian Churches meets these qualifications: The strict conditions for legitimate defense by military force require rigorous consideration. The gravity of such a decision makes it subject to rigorous conditions of moral legitimacy. At one and the same time: * the damage inflicted by the aggressor on the nation or community of nations must be lasting, grave, and certain; * all other means of putting an end to it must have been shown to be impractical or ineffective; * there must be serious prospects of success; * the use of arms must not produce evils and disorders graver than the evil to be eliminated. The power of modern means of destruction weighs very heavily in evaluating this condition. These are the traditional elements enumerated in what is called the "just war" doctrine. The evaluation of these conditions for moral legitimacy belongs to the prudential judgment of those who have responsibility for the common good. the reason why I discount what you are saying is becasue those US Christians that make up what you are offering, voted for a president who supported military action in Iraq. If the constituents of those references you listed were on the same page as their leaders, Bush would have not been elected...
  6. WHy isn't it simple. they can track a cow that enters the US and find every offspring it has if it comes down with mad cow. why not illegals. shrug, everytime i have to go for a job i have to fill out a I9 or something like that. We find them every day, yet they ignore them and let them go. i say when they go to the hospital to get medical treatment, treat them, identify them and if their illegal, pack them up as soon as their treated along with anyone that is with them that is illegal and ship them out. Well, for one thing the cows you are referring to come in legally...I'm sorry, but I believe you are talking apples and oranges in your example Eliyahuw... the point is that if the government who screws up everything they touch, can track a cow and its offspring, don't you think they can track a illegal? like i pointed out before, treat them, while treating them in a hospital identify them and if their not citizens and have no business being here, pack them up and ship them directly from the hospital to the border. As it is now, the illegals get foodstamps, medicaid, free housing, free transportation, and get to work without paying taxes. it shouldn't be too hard to find them, i can walk down the street and find a dozen at any given moment. This is not true, I believe the vast majority of the illegals are leading basically an anonymous life here, not dependent on anything or anybody...

I totally agree. The problem is we don't do that with illegals. We aren't even allowed to find out if they are illegal. And we do just turn a blind eye when we do find them. It's so wrong, and it needs to be changed. kat, we don't even know when the vast majority of those illegals even come in... why does it matter when they come in? the fact is that they are in and are illegal. arrest them, put them on a one way transport out of the country or lock them up since their breaking the law. only in America do we reward criminals with free living! sheesh because unlike your cow example where they come in legally and are monitored, illegals sneek in and cannot be monitored until they are either captured, apply for something from the governmentor hospitalized...otherwise this government has no idea who's here and because of that, they simply con't go out there and 'round them up'...

  10. If a Christian cannot ever knowingly do something wrong that God disapproves of, then there is not a Christian on the face of God's Green Earth. not continuously... Well he only wrote her a few checks, it isn't like he opened up a "store account" with her... he did it at least six times forrest... Now let me ask you. I agree we are all sinners, but if we do something we know is sinful and we pray for forgiveness will God forgive us if we continuously do it again and again? You or I would not be truthful in our prayers asking for forgiveness. Not only did he do this, but he also committed adultry to his wife Betty at least six times...also if they don't ask for forgiveness after doing it once and they DO know better, are they Christian? i don't think so... the only answer I could see is if they were addicted, something along that line, but even then I'd have to think about it. Also remember, the more you know about Jesus, the harsher or the more God will hold you accountable. This guy is a reverend...
  11. you're right, that would be the simple solution. What do you think the realistic solution would be? [/quote It may be simple, but it should also be the realistic solution................secure our boarders, and as we find em, drive em to the border and wave em bye bye. your timeline and his are not the same. Yours would be open ended and could take decades to accomplish. He sounds like it is a simple matter of just going out there and 'rounding em up'...

  16. looks like I may have done the same thing... the table now shows hilary supporting a background check...
  17. hilary will tell anybody anything anytime to get their vote...
  18. yep, but that will change once he declares though...
  19. I think that table is wrong on several issues where clinton is concerned... 1) she supports universal health care instead of opposes it... 2)If she were talking to a gay rights audience she would be telling them that she supports gay marriage... 3) I don't see her as opposing a background check for guns... of course she may have flip-flopped since the table came out... great table...
  20. Thank you for posting that kat. I had never thought about it in that light. To be honest, in all my years I had always accepted that if a baby were born here he would be a US citizen... Very emotional issue from all perspectives...
