  1. What???? Can you elaborate a bit on this??? If you are going to miss him, I guess he is going away, then tell him you will miss him. What I don't understand, is what you mean exactly about him "liking" your sister, which I imagine is also his cousin...? Hmmmm... YSIC, Alison
  2. Lea-anne, First I would like to say that Leondard made a good point. Now, beside that... as far as your light dimming... well it happens. The only thing you can do to keep it lit is to stay reading the Bible. There is a parable about 10 virgins [Matthew 25], 5 wise ones and 5 foolish ones. The 5 wise ones had enough oil in their lamps, meaning that they were constantly prepared, just as it says that we should be ready in season and out of season to give an account of our faith. The only way you can be ready and have a lamp full of oil, is to continually read your Bible and continually communicate with Jesus. The 5 foolish virgins did not do these things and when the time came, they ran out of oil. A lot of Christians fall into the foolish vigin catagory, because they expect someone else to tell them what the Bible says rather then finding out for themselves. Never take anyone's word for anything... Always check align it with the Word of God. The Word of God is absolute truth, and man is not. Surround yourself with others who are of a like mind, being saved and making a daily determination to keep the Lord in His rightful place as Lord. They will, as we here will, keep you uplifted in prayer and encourage you in the Word of God. Everyday that you read the Word, pray for God to give you knowledge, understanding, and discernment of His Word, it's meaning and so that you can rightly divide the Word of truth (keeping everything in the right context). He who has given you salvation is Faithful in all things. He said that whatever you ask in His name, that you will have. Ask, knowing that He will be faithful in answering you for your request. [John 15:16] [James 1:6] [1 John 5:14-15] I hope this helps! Welcome to the Family! I will keep you in my prayers. YSIC, Alison
  3. Falling, I am not sure of the temptation or sin you are struggling with... but I do know that God makes ALL things to work together for our good who love Him and are called according to His purpose. Whatever you struggle with, you can relate to others who are struggling with that very same thing. Maybe someone out there needs you to help them through whatever that may be, and vise versa. When you doubt, remember that God uses what we consider the foolish things to confound what we consider the wise. There is a reason why Satan feels the need to try and keep you down. He knows that if you get up, then you will be a vital and completely active member of the Body of Christ. You are one, as we all are, that is desperately needed in this time and place. Nothing is accidental. Everyone and everything has a specific purpose, and purposes, to accomplish during our lifetime here. Our God, Jesus, is a God of specifics. Nothing dealing with Him is a little here, and a little there... it is always right on, directly: when, where and how it is suppose to be. God has pre-destined and pre-ordained us to our specific circumstances, and also to have a specific radius of influences, to bring about His glory throughout our lives and in the end. Whatever you may feel like saying, say it... because you just never know who is watching or listening, and it may be just what they need at that time. Be encouraged precious one. You are used, and will be used - by God for His glory, whether willingly or unbenounced to you. He will give you whatever you need to overcome anything, as long as you keep Him first and long after Him with your entire being. I will keep you in my prayers. Keep reading the Word and staying in constant communication with Jesus and everything will be all right. We have faith in you, and He has faith in you. He has entrusted you with the truth, and whatever you do with the truth, it will not come back void. Have peace, you are safe in His hands and nothing and no one can take you from His grip. You are bought and sealed by Jesus with His Holy Spirit. YSIC, Alison
  4. Hey there everyone! I have been away from the boards for quite awhile due to moving and medical situations. It is good to be back though. I was wondering if anyone here has ever attended a Messianic Jewish Church. I visited one called Baruk Ha Shem (I think that was how it is spelled) in Dallas, TX. I had only gone a couple of times, but it was an awesome experience. They, being Jewish by family/blood, understand so much that we as Gentiles sometimes don't. Like for instance, specific rituals that we may not be aware of... Sometimes those rituals have a direct correlation to Biblical understanding of events or even prophecy etc. Anyway, Bradley and I have found two that are by our new home, and we are going to visit them in the coming weeks. I would just like to know if any of you have ever attended / visited one, or do currently attend one, and what your experiences have been. Thank you in advance for sharing your experiences here. I appreciate whatever knowledge you will share of things that stood out or maybe you learned that you never knew before because of attending there. YSIC, Alison
  5. That is so true soulwinner! They seem to be very moral and extremely nice. It would be nice to have them in our family.
  6. Az, That is very true. It is sad, that is sometimes the only thing that makes people believe one way or another. Then if someone questions them enough in an area they are not firmly planted in their faith, it can cause them to fall away from their beliefs. That is why we as Christians are called to be ready in season and out of season. God has also said in His Word that many are called and few are chosen. I believe that we as Christians get caught up sometimes in believing that we have it within our control whether or not someone accepts Christ. When actually, we are called to share the Gospel, but it is God who saves - not us. If someone is "chosen" then they will accept Christ in the time God has decided for them to. We have a difficult time understanding His timing and reasons, but they are perfect regardless. I would imagine that being an atheist, you too would use logic and reason to prove or disprove any and all notions of any "higher power". The thing is though, God is not existent by our human logic / understanding. He just is, and we either accept Him or we don't. This gets much more complicated with someone who thinks that they know who God is, yet may be wrong. I understand that Christians can be accused of the same thing by someone of another faith or lack of. But it still remains what He said in His Word... Many are called and few are chosen. I am glad that you are here Az, and I pray that God will speak to you through the posts here. I will continue to research Mormons because I don't want to approach anyone in ignorance. Thanks for your reply Az and everyone else. Your sister in Christ, Alison
  7. Thanks so much DIME Ministries. That is a very interesting and yet scary point. By their own admission they worship Satan. Yikes! How direct can you be, right?! I am just curious Az, are you atheist? You have a good point that their doctrine can't stand firm, against attack. I am really glad this thread is here. I will keep checking in to see what else there is that others post. It is one thing to witness to someone who isn't saved and understands that fact due to them not following any god through their understanding... However, it is a bit more difficult to witness to someone who believes they are saved. I will keep all of you in my prayers, and I ask that you will do the same for me regarding witnessing to Mormons. Thanks so much! Your sister in Christ, Alison
  8. Here is just one thing to consider... Jesus and the apostles always went to the people's home, they did not invite unbeliever's into their own homes (maybe cuz they didn't have one, maybe not), but when they left the unbeliever's home... Jesus said that if they did not accept the truth to shake off the dust from their feet. That their peace would return to them. Mar 6:11 And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear you, when ye depart thence, shake off the dust under your feet for a testimony against them. Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city.KJV 2Ti 3:5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. KJV 2Ti 3:6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,KJV The scripture in question is refering to others coming to you for the sake of persuading you with false doctrines, not just for a glass of water, but wishing them "God speed", keep in mind our words have actions that follow. We have become very careless with what we put out there verbally. Light has no place with darkness so we have no business blessing those who come in another name other then Jesus. By doing so, (whishing them well or luck or helping them in anyway to make their destructive path easier) you are saying you are ok with those doctrines and you will take part in answering for those doctrines. Just a thought. Your sister in Christ, Alison
  9. Thank you Jesusislord and everyone else who has posted here. My husband and I just moved to Murrieta, CA from Dallas, TX. I am so much in shock at how many Mormons are here. We just bought a house here, and I have to tell you, I think at least 98% of the population here is Mormon. I have never really been exposed to them before. Bradley, my husband, and I are going to try to learn as much as we can on how to witness to Mormons. Apparently, God thought we would be useful in this due to us getting a home here. Hahaha. I can only pray and hope. Anyway, something that makes it difficult is that they seem to believe they are saved and they "believe" in Jesus. It makes it a little more difficult to decifer truth to them. There is a lot to learn, so all of your input regarding this topic is greatly appreciated! Does anyone have any thoughts on other points to cover? I noticed that the church we are going to this Sunday is starting a class in November on how to witness to Mormons. Whatever info. I pick up there, I will pass along. Thanks again for your post! I especially liked your wording here, hehehe: Your sister in Christ, Alison
  10. Okay, I have one for you AnotherTraveler. I was in what at times was a school and other times was an office building. In the earlier part of the dream there was a guy who was told by a man that he was going to go to heaven that day. So, all day went by and nothing happened. Everyone who knew about it at this point figured that it wasn't going to happen. Well, at the end of the day I was in one of the rooms gathering my things to leave (everyone else had mostly left). Then I turned around to look at the doorway and saw a girl looking at me. Immediately, there was that man (who told the guy he was going to heaven). The man had on a baby blue shirt (not sure of the color of his pants). As soon as I saw him, I knew he was there for me too. So, I tried to stall a bit by asking the girl to come in but she looked at the man and said no. Then she turned and walked away. The man told me that if I hurried then I could take 2 items of clothing. I wasn't sure why I would need 2 items of clothing, so I couldn't decide on what to take. Finally, he said ok, this is taking too long we have to go. So, he rushed us out and we met the guy from earlier. I was feeling all sorts of emotions. Part of me was scared - wondering if this would be painful. Another part of me thought about others that would be left (in particularly my mom and my youngest cat Kaylie). [My mom, b/c I guess I see her as weak emotionally (like she would feel most alone and sad etc.). My cat b/c she is extremely clingy to me (very needy).] This all made me very sad for them. But then I heard the man say something about having to "bleed out". That term scared me a bit b/c I did not know what he was talking about. I knew inside that I didn't have a choice in the matter of going, so I decided that it would be better to try to look at the bright side. I was like, this is a good thing! (To be present with the Lord) When I said that the man and the guy both agreed. The guy was put in a cupboard and it was my turn. That is when the anticipation of it became so overwhelming that I woke up. Okay, I am ready for your thoughts..... Your sister in Christ, Alison
  11. Here is a site Cutting Edge you should check out for probably more information then you can obsorb regarding these type of cults and end time events and how it all fits into Bible prophesy from a Christian perspective. Keep your Bible with you and check everything to it. If you get overwhelmed then take time to read the Word of God to give you peace. Make sure you pray before you check into anything like this topic. Just my 2 cents. In Christ's love, Alison
  12. Ok everyone... bottom line! I think the question is: Will you still go to heaven if you have not been baptized by water? YES OR NO??? Sorry, just wanted to cut through the tape and get to the point. YSIC, Alison
  13. Amen to that Steve!!! YSIC, Alison
  14. Miss Pryzma, Mar 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. The question here is brought up of what type of baptism is needed due to the following scripture: Mat 3:11 I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and [with] fire: As we see in the book of Acts, the people were baptized with "fire" by the Holy Spirit first, then were still baptized with water. Act 2:3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. Act 2:4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. Right after this Peter says: Act 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. Act 2:41 Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added [unto them] about three thousand souls. It seems that they were added to the church after they were baptized... Hmmm.. Rom 10:10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. Now, this states that salvation comes from confession of your belief. Also to be followed by: Mat 10:32 Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven. This would make you believe that all that is required is to believe and confess Jesus, and you will be saved. If someone were to make the (in their heart) decission for Jesus and then they died soon after... I think that they would go to heaven... Just like the thief on the cross. Mat 12:50 For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother. This possibly is clearifying the "next step" I suppose. Kind of like faith without works is dead. Jam 2:20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? Mat 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. I think that, if you die right after you get saved... I believe that they will go to heaven. Though, like Debbie said, Jesus was baptized with water- though, there was no actual salvation until He died. But other scriptures present that we are to also be baptized by water, I suppose as an outward confession (remission of sins). Remeber though, we are saved by our faith in Jesus, but by our outward actions... like baptism, we show our fruit and make it public, if you will. I hope that I have helped and not just confused you more... YSIC, Alison
  15. Responded with: When I pulled this thread up, that is all that I saw to begin with... I couldn't stop from laughing... Sorry! Okay, now onto serious thoughts... I completely agree! Nicely worded! I couldn't say it better myself! YSIC, Alison
