  1. Jacqueline, Praise God for your break through! It is amazing how many people are, or have gone through similar situations. I am greatful for everyone who has shared their experiences here. I know sometimes, it is hard to share them with just anybody. A lot of people are quick to judge when dealing with the supernatural, if they have never experienced it themselves. I have had similar events happen in my life as well, and I responded just as all of you are advising Jacqueline... It works! I am sure you now have a lot of people keeping you in their prayers... Well, add one more to the bunch! The post regarding posting up scripture all over your house... EXCELLENT! If you do that and read through them (while adding) everyday... you will know them so well, it will be 2nd nature when faced with sticky situations. When some of us fear, we tend to freeze up, but reading the Word makes you confident in God's ability and His exceeding power to overcome all things through Christ. Again, thanks for sharing in your post! YSIC, Alison
  2. A lot of good content and dialog! Blessings! YSIC, Alison
  3. Wisdom, I thank God for your post. You were very direct, yet spoke in love - edifying the Body. I hope that no one takes it as a personal attack because it may cause them to feel guilty. You are right, we have a fallen short and must continue to achieve to be as Christ like as we can. What you have called out is a huge problem in our churches, though others may not want to accept it... it is there. The only way to bring light into the darkness is to expose the darkness. If you are in a dark room long enough, your eyes adjust and you begin to think that there is enough light to be effective, while the darkness keeps growing. Like the frog in the kettle. There is one thing that you said that I wonder if you meant it a different way... Did you mean that the way your church operates must line up with everything in scripture? Again, thank you for your post... shedding light into the darkness, you are appreciated! YSIC, Alison
  4. Mobile21, I appreciate that you have an opinion and are able to express it. However, you apparently lack grace and love in expressing yourself. If you would have read my post right after that... you would have noticed that I had apologized for confusing or offending anyone. You take things out of context (see next paragraph), and seem to be here for the sake of argument. So, I must say that your attacking comments (ie: regarding my dad) are completely uncalled for. My dad died when I was 19, so he is presently with the Lord. What I said about Catholocism was based on what I was taught when I was young. If you can read in context, I also said that there were many things that I am not aware of, and out of wisdom I will not comment on those things. I do not wish to speak positively or negatively on anything that I am unaware of... Which I think that everyone should follow. We are not put on this earth to cause strife or argue, but to have peace, show love, compassion and to speak in truth. If someone doesn't not agree, we are to pray for them... not attack. All that attacking does is drive people away and show that we are no different then the lost. We are called to be the salt and light of the earth. So, your opinions on the thread topic are greatly appreciated if they are given in love and in truth, but anything less then that is just flesh. Thanks for your insight. One thing about me is that, I am always willing to look at another side of things if you can show it to me in scripture where you think that I am wrong. If I am, I will apologize and retract... and learn from it. YSIC, Alison
  5. Thanks for your input!
  6. OOOPS! Computer problems... when I went to post, all my computer would bring up was the first page... So that is what I posted to. I am glad that many of you have covered these topics and more (now that I can see them). Hope I didn't confuse or offend anyone. YSIC, Alison
  7. Okay, I think we are missing the point of this thread. It is not to debate the accuracy of what we know as the Bible. It is not to debate wether christianity is viable. It is to find out the error of Catholocism when compared to Biblical doctrine. Saying that, I am not Catholic... However, my dad's side of the family is. They do believe in the deity of Mary and that you can and need the assistance of her to get into heaven. They do place saints (that they deem worthy from their works) to be equal to Jesus. They are very much into "rituals" not a real relationship to Christ. My dad left the Catholic church because they started having everyone line up and kiss the feet of the statue of Mary. They also believe that you have to confess everything to a priest to be forgiven, and not that you can just be forgiven... but rather you have to do penants for your punishment. Among, many other things that I don't know enough about yet to comment on. I appreciate your topic because this is something that has come up quite a bit with my dh's family lately. My dh and I are beginning to look deeper into this topic. The ignorance of the Body regarding their tolerancy of "live and let live" and confusing false doctrines with the truth is what is leading others astray. No, I don't believe that I know everything (as some say fundamentals think), but I do believe that we can understand everything... Some things just take more study then others. God knew the Bible that we would learn from, and He has protected it (KJV) for our salvation. It is what we have and all that we can trust for the truth... meaning His word. I wish you well on your study Neb. Let us know what you find out. YSIC, Alison
  8. I completely agree with all of you. I believe that we are here to love God and each other, to serve God and each other and to grow and mature in love, servanthood, and truth in the Word. I believe we are here as in a training ground for preparing us for what God may have us doing in the future (when we are with Him). I heard somewhere, that you grow more exceedingly with adversity, then with peace.... We must be excelling at rampid speed... YSIC, Alison
  9. Hey there, This is a topic that I have had trouble understanding. Like, what reasons do you do this, etc.? I know that Jesus said that some demons can only be cast out with prayer and fasting. I know that there are Jewish (hollidays, I guess) that you fast during. Do you just not eat and pray strait through it? What exactly do you pray for (like for what Jesus was talking about)? Do you do it to get an answer to prayer? It sounds a bit funny... "God, I am not going to eat until You answer my prayer." Of corse, if that is what you do... then so be it. I have never fasted b/c I was never sure of the purposes. Your thoughts are greatly appreciated. If you can give scriptures with your examples that would be great! :t3: Thanks! YSIC, Alison
