  1. 6Anyone who receives instruction in the word must share all good things with his instructor. People weren't sharing something, perhaps. I wonder what "all good things" is? 7Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. Unfortunately, it seems like He's mocked every day, on YouTube and some forums. Cannot refers to must not in the original language maybe? Reap what you sow refers to getting mocked for mocking? Or going to hell? Even for a Christian who repents? Thanks for any insights. My community group continues through the NT...
  2. I've researched sites for years, but haven't paid for one. Once the income picks up, maybe I should try E-Harm. I enjoyed going through the questions, and they have groups & forums, which is cool in that you can communicate w/o paying. And they have some good articles on Christian dating/relationships there. I wish $ wasn't the bottom line, but they are a business-
  3. But its not really speculation. Whoops, you're right. The homefield advantage made me a touch sloppy on that. Wonder if anyone else watched/listened to it, or if this will spiral off-topic. Take care.
  4. I minimized & listened to the series on YouTube while working yesterday. Interesting how YT brings info that isn't supposed to be out of a region ($ concerns ?) to a global audience. He seemed really upset and emotional when a pastor or other person wouldn't agree with him and he didn't get his way. Oh well. His being proud to be called an ape felt like a cute party trick. Would he really want to be reffered to as merely "ape" instead of as Professor, "the esteemed writer", or even Mr. by people his whole life? The comparison of evidence for Napoleon and evolution seemed poor. We have written records of historical people, observed by others, and a few hundred years ago is no big thing. The supposed evolution of man has no such written records by those who observed it, thus today's speculation. Oh, and I guess he had nothing negative to say about Darwin, such as how marrying your cousin can cause problems (such as child lifespan?). Maybe he forgot or choose not to. Probably didn't fit w/the show's title. I might've posted these toughts in the YT comments, but would rather not be under brutal verbal attack by overly-emotional haters for the next week.
  5. I listened to it on YouTube while working yesterday- first time I'd heard anything from the canidates (didn't pay them any attention til now).
  6. OK. Good info.
  7. 2I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago was caught up to the third heaven. Whether it was in the body or out of the body I do not know
  8. Peter was sent to the Jews. Paul was sent to the Gentiles. As Gentiles, we were grafted into the vine. We didn't have a thorough understanding of the Law as the Jews did. As Paul did. If you read up on the church history, you'll find that the women spoken about in 1 Corinthians 14, the ones Paul said were to remain silent in the church, the women who wanted to inquire about something should "ask their own husbands at home." From what I read in church history, the women would call out to their husbands during the sermon Paul was preaching and distract the others, which is why Paul told them to ask their husbands at home. Remember, Gentiles were NOT under the Law. Jewish women were not allowed to do a lot of things under the Law of Moses. So, speaking out in church, asking questions, is what Paul wanted stopped. When a man or woman prophesies, they have to speak out loud. Prophesies are spoken in the gathering of Believers which is commonly known as the Church or the Body of Christ. We're reading a document that was written over thousands of years. The culture in the Bible is so far removed from the culture here in America that you can't compare the two. There are Hebrew idioms in the Bible that people often take as literal. Just as I could say, "You're a pain in the neck." But that doesn't mean, you are stuck in my neck and causing me pain. It's an idiom. Idioms are scattered all throughout the Bible. Do we take the Bible literally today? If you do, then the next time your son or daughter talks back to you or disrespects you, the men in the city should have a right to stone them because that's what happened to disobedient sons. Under the Laws. How about today? Should a woman be stoned for touching a man? Please, don't fly off the handle and think, Oh my, she doesn't believe in the Bible, because I do. You have to acquaint yourself with the culture of the people at the time of the Bible and with church history to understand parts of the New Testament. And unless you have a good understanding of Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek, there will always be disagreements concerning the Bible. And I'm not a Bible scholar. I just like to read up on things. Look at the topic of slavery. America was the last country to get involved in the slave trade, but it was the first country to stop it within its borders. The Bible talks about slavery. Does that mean because it's in the Bible, that we, today, can have slaves? Of course not. Not everything in the Bible was meant to be taken literally. Especially, idioms. We, Gentiles, were never under the Law and never will be. And if we're supposed to start keeping the Law, then Jesus died for nothing. Willow325 Ah, so that's what husbands refers to. Those married women there were speaking to husbands there. And the rest, wow- thanks. Yeah, it is tough when there's a lot between the lines (meanings of words, literal/non-lit, & jew/gentile stuff).
  9. Oh no. I don't want to cause lack of sleep for anyone. Glad you're playing it. I've promoted it to friends, in the videogame & animation communities as well, and Crosswalk.com. The best response is among the videogame communities & here. (None at Crosswalk or animation sites). Eventually you may get better & better. It took me a while. We might be getting that in-game map soon, so that will make it easier to navigate. God bless-
  10. Ah, sorry to hear that. There are some orange elixers around. And hitting an enemy w/the shovel gets a bit. The real relief is once you clear a level (though they do take a while), you'll see a password you can use to continue from that point. Don't worry, it took me a little while to get good at the game. Thanks for playing!
  11. Thanks for the responses, and sorry about any problems w/gameplay. My coworkers did the game concept & code work. Blocked off areas are accessible from other directions- eventually you should end up there. Blocks to cover enemy genertaors usually have a cross or match the enemy (exception- ice for trees & hay for dogs)- there might be some info in the How to Play section too. The keys can be tricky at first, but I hope our man in Florida will get a map in game soon. Thanks also on the suggestion to contact a Christian gaming company. Research time-
  12. I'll second what's been said. Nice work.
  13. I did the art & animation for an online Flash game (including cutscenes in-game & The Commission). http://www.tangerinepop.com/graveshift/ Clicking an ad, if you can, (can close instantly) helps generate a bit of income. But the hope is a gaming site will pick it up. The second half gets released by Halloween, and I hope the two will be put together into a console game. It's a relief to finally be able to show it. And to be able to contribute a 2-D video game to society at last. I the header, I should've said, I think there's Christian themes... Thanks to any who check it out- and God bless.
  14. I Cor. 14 As in all the congregations of the saints, 34women should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission, as the Law says. 35If they want to inquire about something, they should ask their own husbands at home; for it is disgraceful for a woman to speak in the church. Husband? What about unmarried women? Anyway, I guess women aren't allowed to speak- at all. Or maybe speak means speaking in front of the others in church.
  15. I can live w/a low IQ in this area. 23%. 4 correct answers, and I might have guessed on some.
  16. Hi Jeffnevins. Scripture teaches that there will be degrees of rewards in Heaven as well as degrees of punishments in Hell. Jesus taught that it will be more tolerable for some in the day of judgment than for others (Matt. 11:20-24).; that some will be found to be twofold more a child of hell than others, and will recieve GREATER DAMNATION" (Matt. 23:14-15); and that every man will be judged according to their works (Matt. 10:41-42; 16:27; Rom. 14:10-12; 2 Cor. 5:10-11; Rev. 22:12). Haz. That's it. It makes more sense now. Thanks.

    1 Corin. 3

I thought eternal life was reward enough, but I thought I heard about rewards in the past- 8The man who plants and the man who waters have one purpose, and each will be rewarded according to his own labor. 9For we are God's fellow workers; you are God's field, God's building. Just wondering if Paul's saying what Jesus said earlier, or knew this some other way. Maybe it refers to how we lived on earth affecting rewards in heaven, or general salvation... Not sure. Thanks for any tips-
  18. They always seem to be busy when I'm in one (to get a snack- I don't do coffee). Maybe people are going to other coffee shops... Huge layoffs, even in the service industry? Yeah, prayers definately.
  19. Yep. That's why I posted this. Because Paul didn't give the disclaimer of not following or respecting this leaders against God. Leaders were against God in his day, and have been up to ours. Then there's extreme examples like Stalin... Maybe Paul forgot to write that, or people knew automatically. Thanks-
  20. OK. Good explanation.
  21. http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?searc...amp;version=31; v1-7 What if a leader is a nonbeliever or against God? Just curious. Thanks for any insights.

    Romans 13?

I'm not sure if Paul was speaking in absolutes, but in his time up to ours there have been leaders against God. Just curious what peoples' take on this chapter are. Apologies if this has come up recently.
  23. Yeah, crazy day to be in SF. Public transit was packed w/that & a ball game. I rushed to get to my church (media team videocamera) w/my brother (rarely visits). Then rushed to Westfield downtown to see the movie Wall-E (a couple friends worked on it).
  24. But there are plenty of straight people in SF as well. And a good number of Christians. And straight, attractive Christian women. My church is in the City. Lived there ten years. Wouldn't want the whole city to get a bad rap from some folks-
  25. Bad news indeed, especially with the weak economy & lack of jobs. I really hope people cut back on pesticides, not use high fructose corn syrup on them, & go natural (like they were before modern man tweaked w/them).
