  1. Unrelated to this but a question about your site: Do you have access limits to guard against ill-willed atheists and trolls? At the site I mentioned before, they became plagued with spam and heresy, a moderators nightmare. Especially with vulnerable young people being the targeted customer. The site operators wanted an open and free environment with mod's maintaining order. But sometimes it would get so overwhelming, it would wear mod's out. The site would occassionally shut down and re-emerge later, but everytime it would lose people. Now it's pretty much a ghost town. I'm not sure open and free access like that is worth it if your trading security for activity. At first there was no debate thread. That didn't stop it from showing up in the 'off topic'. They added a debate thread to give a place for it. The trolls stopped spamming for some reason after that. But the heresy was rampant. Hey, it's a hard call. When it was new and exciting, there was nothing like it. Ton's of fresh activity on the board. Shout out box was always active. It's kinda sad...
  2. CALL TO ALL CHRISTIAN WOMEN ON THIS BOARD - Do you feel degraded by your Christianity?
  3. Here here!
  4. Well, I just made it through the 50+ pages of this essay and I say it's well worth the time. Has anybody else read it? I'll get the next one tomorrow. Okay, I've read the second. It repeats and summarizes a few of the points in the first, but certainly not all. It also sheds some light on the suffering of mankind and the suffering of Christ on the Cross. Again, very much worth the time. HAVE ANY OF YOU GUYS READ THESE YET? ARE ANY OF YOU GOING TO READ THIS? I'm telling you, it helps to reconcile many of the athiest/scientific arguments with scripture. I assume that's one of the reasons you participate on Worthy Boards. AM I WRONG?

  6. What is the purpose of your forum going to be? With games, you're probably looking to appeal to teens/college age??? I was a moderator for site like that not too long ago. They had a lot of bumps in the road, some of which I wasn't totally aware. One of the guys has recently restarted it but the users haven't realized it's up and running again. One of their hooks was to award points to users if they posted in the threads. Points were required to play the games. This encouraged participation beyond just being a game site. People also had the option of making a donation to help support the cost of operating the site. If they did, they recieved unlimited game play for a designated period of time (depending on the size of the donation), plus their user name showed up in a special color to denote that this person was a contributor.
  7. RH, How did the chem exam go?
  8. I thought about this before and thought that using the bible for source material would be cool. I think the problem is that the outcome is certain. There's no room for variables and the potential losing or an opposite outcome from the biblical account. I don't think it would be widely accepted, though I could be wrong, If David's army lost to the Philistines in a historical battle that they actually won. But without that chance it would be pretty boring, pretty much like watching a movie. Movies aren't bad, but they aren't video games. How 'bout one that involves engaging/debating with atheists online. You answer wrong and you lose points, answer right, win points. If the player totally blows it and is de-converted by the athiest, he gets thrown into a lake of fire.
  9. He uses the complexity of flagellum as his example. Supposedly this had been successfully refuted by scientists, but that was the point for posting the second site, which is his rebuttal to that claim. DNA comes to mind as another, but I'm not sure this is Behe's. Anyway, this was actually a response the either your's or Runner's High's request for a credible scientist in the biology field who subscribes to the idea of intelligent design. A few posts earlier on this thread, AK provides a handful of others along with links to some websites. I'm not sure what the big deal is with scientists who want to consider design as one of the explanations for the existence of something without being ostracized. Especially since science has not come up with another plausible scenario for our existence and natural selection doesn't work in many complex systems.
  10. I sure hope some of the unbelievers participating in this thread take AK up on this. I am interested to see where he goes with it. Edit: I've just read the first 10 pages of the first one. So far, it is very relevent to many of the posts that are within this thread. I've got to write a five page paper in the next two days so I'll have to get back to this later.
  11. I'm about to head to church so I'll be away for quite awhile. It will be interesting to see where this goes.
  12. If there is an earthquake, it is not anyone's fault. Nobody made the earthquake happen. During the earthquake, a building collapses and a 6 month old baby is trapped and takes a day to die. In pain and agony. Broken bones. Starvation. Thirst. The baby is innocent. God could have done so many things. he could have had the baby's mother take it for a walk. He could have had a beam fall strategically, forming a barrier to protect the baby till the rescuers came. It's a hypothetical baby, but something like it has happened. In differing ways, in differing circumstances. The point is that there is needless suffering of innocents. Caused by no-one. And not prevented by the omniscient, omnipotent God. And. If ever I am before him. I will want him to explain it to me before he condemns me. So you feel you would be condemned?
  13. WOW! He would take His great hand and swipe you away as soon as look at you. Even the devil knows who God is! I doubt you would get the first word out of your foul and self-loving mouth. How dare the pot call the potter anything! Isaiah 29:15-17 (New International Version) 15 Woe to those who go to great depths to hide their plans from the LORD, who do their work in darkness and think, "Who sees us? Who will know?" 16 You turn things upside down, as if the potter were thought to be like the clay! Shall what is formed say to him who formed it, "He did not make me"? Can the pot say of the potter, "He knows nothing"?
  14. What would you say or do before the Supreme Judge who holds you accountable to His holy standards? Hypothetically?
  15. I've had dreams in the past of standing in front of a crowd on a bridge over a major highway. Above us was a dark black cloud. I was holding a bible in my hand proclaiming the gospel and saying, "Now do you want it"? Also, I've been in the back row of a huge congregation and people were playing along with what they were supposed to do in the church, but you could tell it wasn't sincere. They were laughing and carrying on, feeling proud of themselves. Often, when I'm in that state just before falling asleep, I envision myself standing in front of people proclaiming the gospel. My sermons are hitting every point in perfect stride. Note: I am not a part of ministry at this time. I've prayed and prayed that God would open the door for an opportunity. Something that would be undeniably obvious. I've had people make unsolicited comments that I should be in the ministry. I am 41 years old and have recently quit my job to go back to school full time. I am taking college basics right now. I am soon going to be at the point of choosing a major. I pray that He will open those doors in a way that I can proceed with confidence that I am choosing His path. My dreams haunt me by the fact I need to do something with them as I believe they aren't just happenstance.
  16. Isn't this the man who said Christ had to shed his blood seven times? Yes, that is included in his book. By the way, those seven times are: From the sweat in the Garden of Gethsemane. From the whip lashes. From the crown of thorns. From the nails in His hands. From the nails in His feet. From the spear in His side/heart. I can't remember the other, but they are all supposed to have a certain significance in the freedom from different curses. Example, in the bible thorns represent poverty. So His blood shed from the crown of thorns was given in that case to free us from the curse of poverty.
  17. First, let me say I tend to agree with everyone here. Second, I have tremendous respect for Grant Jeffrey's prophecy and apologetic teachings. I promise I am only telling you what he said. A few nights ago, I was watching Grant Jeffery's program on TV and the topic was "The New Heaven and New Earth to come." Mr. Jeffery was explaining that the earth will be returned to state prior to the fall of Adam and Eve. Basically it will be everything it was orginally intended to be. He went on to explain that if this is the case, there will be no sin, no sickness, and no death. Men and women will be joined in the same type of union as Adam and Eve. He quotes the bible where the Lord tells Eve that she will experience increased pain at child birth to set up his next point which is that women must have been able to have children prior to the fall without much pain. So, when earth is returned to it's original "Garden of Eden" status, women will be giving birth in the way it was orginally designed. The lion will become vegetarian and lay down with the lamb and so on. Wait, there's more... Next, he went on to say he thinks that with no death, the earth will become so populated that we will begin to populate other planets in the universe that are capable of sustaining human life. Now, I know Grant Jeffery knows the verse that says men and women will not be given to each other in marriage in heaven. He must be thinking that the verse is referring to Heaven, not Earth. I suppose it's okay to speculate on what is to come and I won't limit our Lord in anyway, but I felt he was reaching a bit. I know some you guys are going to tell me to quit watching Christian TV with all the topics I've brought to the table recently. I can tell you I really have. But I'm so ready to pick up a nugget of revelation or truth, I'll click over from time to time. And, like I said, I have great respect for Grant Jeffery.
  18. Isn't this the man who said Christ had to shed his blood seven times? "WOE" OC Thanks for your input OC.
  19. They get them published in science journals and public magazines. However, a few sites that are worth noting: www.designinference.com www.uncommondescent.com www.iscid.org www.arn.org www.idthefuture.com Those are a few of the many that are out there. "ID The Future" is a good one to use because it has Meyers, Dembski, Behe, Wells, and many other ID proponents on there. Thanks for those! I just checked out iscid.org...whew...I'll need a few more science courses under my belt to keep up with those guys. Given the level of discussion there, it somewhat shows how amateur atheist/agnostic science geeks will migrate to certain forums where they may feel less challenged to test drive their new found blather (scientifically speaking). Thanks again AK! I'm going to spend more time with some of these as I am not totally lost.
  20. Yeah, I believe he's Christian, but man, this whole thing with observing Ramadan in the White House, or wherever, really put me to the test. Surely people of other faiths who happen to live in this country can respect his faith and understand it wouldn't be right for him to celebrate theirs. Who's next on the list of people we need to kiss up to. China's getting pretty strong. Aren't they mostly Buddhists of some form or fashion? Never the less I'm glad it's Bush there and not Kerry.
  21. Isn't this the man who said Christ had to shed his blood seven times? Yes, that is included in his book. Well that teaching is outside of the realm of orthodoxy. In other words, that is heretical doctrine. Since the man has taught heretical doctrine, you should discount everything he's ever said. Do not ever listen to heretic preaching. I don't disagree with you. Assuming a heretic is teaching some heretical, I wonder what benefit there is to teaching such things. Prosperity Preaching offers an obvious gain for the preacher. I suppose it could be so that he appears to have something new so people will listen to him and maybe buy his book. (By the way, I didn't buy the book, my sister did and wanted my input). I've not heard this particular line of teaching before and thought it odd that it escaped the attention of the church for generations. Not whether curses exist because clearly they do, but his particular premise is unusual. Maybe a sign of the times, huh?
  22. No, as I posted before the NT says that Christ took the curse for us, therefore if you are saved there is no more curse. Of any kind. We cannot read into what Paul says and assume that his readers have asked anything. If they had, it would be there for us to see if it mattered in the first place. Scripture is sufficient, therefore if we are to base a theology on the idea that someone should have known something, scripture would make it clear that they did/or should have known. As shown when Christ reprimands bible scholars for not knowing things (Nicodemus....) they should have figured out.
  23. Isn't this the man who said Christ had to shed his blood seven times? Yes, that is included in his book.
  24. By the way, the teacher/author is Pastor Larry Huch.
  25. Just think where we would all be if Jesus, the apostles, and all the martyrs through history didn't stand up for the faith. They didn't have the pleasure of living in a free country and the insulated security of the internet. Persecution, torture, humilation, and death were their EARTHLY rewards. Think of all the people who are suffering for their faith in countries with suppressive regimes as we speak. I've got a feeling we'll be a little towards the back of the line in heaven behind all those who have TRULY suffered for their faith.
