  1. I guess my question with that, is that doesn't the Bible show the mind of God?
  2. Hey everyone, I had only slightly voiced this opinion/asked this question before the US election, and the answer was always the same... We say that the US isn't ready for a woman president, and we say that biblically, a woman shouldn't have authority over men, and thus shouldn't be in office. This was our claim when Hillary Clinton was running against Obama. Then, when Palin came, we said "Oh! A woman president". Aren't we just a bunch of hypocrites? The answer was always "the better of two evils". I like what someone said in the US news forum, what does it take to start a conservative party becuase our republication party has gone pretty far down the drain. This isn't about whether or not Palin would have made a good vice president (or president if something happened to McCain), though I believe that she was the best one up there. The question is, why are we saying it's wrong for the democrats, but right for the republicans? Why are changing God's law based on the circumstances? Is that not hypocritical? Is that not too faced? What happened to taking the high road as Christians...
  3. Thank you kross, thank you everyone. I really appreciate that. I guess at this point I'm going to see how this next month plays out while I'm at home becuas ethen I go back to school, but I'm not missing church all summer long (4 months). We'll see how God works... thank you
  4. NOt "abomination" Admonition Which I probably spelled wrong. Growing in up in the guidance of the LORD. ROFL, sorry I can't help it, I really need to learn to spell. lol you spelled it just fine. I need to read I think you are right, but at the same time... it's being told not to do what is right when there are means that it can be done.. I'm sorry I keep going back and forth on this, but I've been told all of my life that I am just to obey my parents unless they go against God... then that if they tell me I can't go to church, then I need to be an example for the Lord and obey them with a good attitude. However, as I get older, I am not questioning that "advice" that I had been given... .my bible says to obey God over man.... it doesnt' say just the gov't, but man...
  5. Then why kill it? ill ask the turkey ok? Sorry, didn't know you ate the tree. Everything for the eatig it, that is actually a very good point. However, I think the symbolism can be when the tree is cut down and placed in a home, not when it is just alive. I'm trying to think of another example, but none is coming to mind. It is used an example, not the actual thing itself... kind of like the bread and the "wine" represent the body and the blood that woudl be crucified, it doesn't mean we go and crucify it (in the mouth doesn't count ). It is simply a picture, and doesn'thave to remain alive in the ground to be a picture Dumb example, but same idea.
  6. Kross, I don't understand, what do you mean by "abomination of the Lord"? I think Irish gave an awesome post on the difference between honoring and obeying, but summed it up with a single phrase saying that we are obey until they go against the Word of God
  7. So that truly is what is right according to God's word?? .... (scared)
  8. Thank you. I was using hte stealing as an example. People says that if a parent tells a child to steal, the child shoudln' tdo it. but then when the subject of not going to church comes up, the child is told to obey the parents and I think thats hypocritical. Just ebcuase it's not in the ten commandments does not mean it's not God's will...
  9. Hah hah... right after you say good point, Im' still debating about amending something.... God can use anything sure... but that doesn't make it right to use certain things? For instance, rock music and beer to bring people into church? However... by putting up a Christmas tree does not mean that a certain person goes to hell, that's blasphemy. Not to mention entirely misleading and will lead people two-fold into hell. It's not in the Bible and I would doubt someone's salvation who says it because it is saying Christ isnt' enough, and the only way to heaven is through believeing in Christ's payment BEING enough
  10. It is my parents... but then I will be kickedout of the house and they will no longer pay for my college....
  11. Hey, Alright, I don't know how Massorite is, but if what you are saying is truly the case, then absolutely no arguments there. Looking at the false doctrine put forth, Legalism truly is saying that it's Christ+something= salvation, and to say that if one celebrates Christmas, then he is going to hell, then that is in fact works salvation, and a false doctrine. Not to mention blasphemy.... I havent 'been on the boards in a good number of months due to schooling, but a doctrine like that does that need to be refuted, and others warned.
  12. Phl 1:12 But I would ye should understand, brethren, that the things [which happened] unto me have fallen out rather unto the furtherance of the gospel; Phl 1:13 So that my bonds in Christ are manifest in all the palace, and in all other [places]; Phl 1:14 And many of the brethren in the Lord, waxing confident by my bonds, are much more bold to speak the word without fear. Phl 1:15 Some indeed preach Christ even of envy and strife; and some also of good will: Phl 1:16 The one preach Christ of contention, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my bonds: Phl 1:17 But the other of love, knowing that I am set for the defence of the gospel. Phl 1:18 What then? notwithstanding, every way, whether in pretence, or in truth, Christ is preached; and I therein do rejoice, yea, and will rejoice. Phl 1:19 For I know that this shall turn to my salvation through your prayer, and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ, It is about the furtherance of the gospel.
  13. The church puts you and I in a box so to keep you obligated to it. That is not all wrong though but when was the last time your Pastor said lets meet down at the Local town square or mall and heal the sick free the captives save the lost? If it is my church the answer is never! Why? Because they are scared of public opinion and afraid of losing the people they try so hard to hold onto to. Yes there is a new fire lit by the holy spirit and its outside the church, if you have a desire to find it you will and its growing! I love my church but where's the beef! I'm hungry not willing to be Luke warm anymore and am steping out in faith and it is catchy! oooh... I mean this in all kindness, I hate and love your answer all at the same time. The last time my church said let's go down the road and heal the sick was never because it's not for today, and if its done, it's outside of hte bible. However, last time I was here in PA before college, we did go about 30 min out, to a little town needing the gospel (my home town), a man did some street preaching, we sang some hymns, and witnessed, etc. There's a fire by the holy spirit, but it's that same old burning fire.... some just don't have. That is not limited to a church (considering a churhc is the people, not a building), bt it is the work of the holy spirit. That needs to be INSIDE OF churches so it can go out to others... it neesd to be revival in one persons' heart, and eventually a church's, and then eventually an area. I love my church, and the beef is in the word of God. You're aboslutley right htat so many are just soaking up the information, Dead Sea Christians, and not taking it outsdie of the church doors like they need to be. That's wrong. hte Comission was given to the local church, and I have not joined a church because there wasn't soulwinning giong on. Don't be luke warm, amen!!! but its' for a local assembly, it's for each individual, and it's something that needs to be spread in a church... iron sharpens iron and if more people woudl be out, more woudl be getting done. It's not about healing, but its' about giving the gospel to people.
  14. In order to do some of the things above you must be born again. Sin is quickened to us and therefore becomes Sin and we know it if we are Born Again! Get the Parents Saved and then the kids can see the change in there Life and most times follow suit. Raise a child in the way of the Lord and he will never depart from it, he may stray but will return in time. If a parent says to a child to steal then its obvious that parent is not right with God. Get the parent right and it comes together. The bible says children obey your parents and it also goes on to say spare the rod or spoil the child. Could this be one reason why our schools and society is in shambles. Yes there are other reasons but from a spiritual stand point it is impossible to live in right standing with God without Jesus! Hey backon track, It's been a while Thank you for your post Just to clarify a particular situation a little more clearly... Parents are saved, but the child(ren) is not. The parents are cold to the gospel, and the meantime (may or may never get saved), are telling the child(ren) he/she can not go to church. Unfortunately there is no correct answer to that question because they all live in the world and the world dictates the response of the parents, even if they are cold. The holy spirit is the only key and prayer if one knows these particular people. The question is hypothetical in nature and I must base all my answers on the bible. If the parents aren
  15. I believe he's talking about the lazy church and the watered down Gospel. I could be wrong, but that's what I got from it. I don't know... sine church is captitalized, is it speaking of the catholic church then?
  16. Thank you man and thank you left overture. I think man is doing possible the same thing many people woudl have done. I was in a bit of a rush and didn't have the chance to post the verses, though I normally do. Thank you for hte references!!! I really appreciate it!! I thought it was the passage that the pastor at my college had been preaching out of, but it was a different one lol Thank you so much. that's definitly it
  17. Okay...tehe... thank you for the response. Yankee talking here Mother and Father are not saved. Have two children, of which were raised on fairly descent standards considering the world. The youngest of the two children started going to church about ten years ago, has been going since. The child also got saved and baptized during that time, and has surrendered to full-time CHristian service. However, for some reason (which I'm going to have to disclose on here), the parents are saying the child can not go to the services. This isnt' the exact situation, but the child is being told he/she can not go to church when he/she knows that he/she should. Should the child go anyways, obeying God? or shoudl the child stay home, obeying man?
  18. Backontrack, what did you mean by "The coming fire will not be quenched by the Church anymore"?
  19. There is absolutely no revelation outside of what is in the bible... I don't understand your post.

  21. Luk 2:49 And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father's business? Luk 2:50 And they understood not the saying which he spake unto them. Luk 2:51 And he went down with them, and came to Nazareth, and was subject unto them: but his mother kept all these sayings in her heart.
  22. The devil also preaches Christ. Do we accept his gospel along with the rest? Forgive me.... I was trying to find the passage, but I guess it wasn't 2 Tim 3... I woudl have to try and find it again.
  23. Hey everyone, I feel like I've posted this before, but it's hard to find a definite answer on this one. We are to obey God rather than man, but we are to obey our parents, as in the Bible. The Apostles often had to go against the gov't and preach- Obey God rather than man. Christ did not obey the religious leaders either, I woudl assume. However, Christ submitted to his parents (Luke 2_49-51) If a parent tells a child to steal, should they steal or not steal? (When I say child, I'm speaking of say a teenager, not a 4yrs old who might not know better) I'm sure we'd all agree if the gov't says we can't go to church, we can't read our bibles, or can't pray, we'd surely do it anyway, following God's word. However, If a parent tells a child to not go to church, should they stay home? If a parent tells a child not to read their bible, should they not? If a parent tells a child not to pray, should they not? Anyone have Bible to really back up a solid answer?
  24. Aboslutely awesome post. Just a thought, isn't this what the devil is wanting for so-called Christians today? I think was Paul in 2 Tim 3 who said that there were people who were preaching Christ in different fashions, for different reasons, but here's the thing: Christ was being preached. Here's the thing... this argument over hte Christmas tree is petty. If you believe it's wrong, if that is how the Lord has convicted you, than that's great. If not, then this is truly petty argument, time consuming, and it takes away from honoring and glorying Christ. Our goal in life shoudl be about pleasing God, not arguing about Harry Potter books and Christmas trees. I am about sick of people arguing instead of getting the gospel of Christ out. Isn't the devil so good at what he does to get us focused on a tree, about what some people have claimed it to stand for, instead of thinknig about the God of the Bible? God can use ANYTHING for his glory. Use a Christmas tree or don't. It's about pleasing God, not winning an argument.
  25. Not to steal your post, but dealing with women speaking in church, as with "analyzing prophecies" (I'd have to study that passage out for myself), are women allowed to say "Amen" during church?
