I knew Vote for ted! was Bibs...is there another identity that I missed?
-
I disagree, jackie. I think vickilynn has noticed, as I have, that some posters come here and post for a few months (usually on very controversial subjects) stir up things, fight with others, then leave. They come back in a bit with a new name but that never works; the way one phrases things and the habit of only posting on certain threads is telling. I don't think she was finding fault; only wondering if the practice is deceptive. After all, there's no law against it and I don't think the owners of Worthy prohibit the practice. thank you glory2000...

and yet.... Proverbs 22:4 By humility and the fear of the Lord are riches, and honour, and life.

it's ironic that this topic came up this morning as it was exactly what the sermon at church was about. The verse quoted was good and there is more that could be added. Pro 10:8 The wise in heart will receive commands, But a prating fool will fall. Pro 10:9 He who walks with integrity walks securely, But he who perverts his ways will become known. Pro 10:10 He who winks with the eye causes trouble, But a prating fool will fall. Pro 10:11 The mouth of the righteous is a well of life, But violence covers the mouth of the wicked. Pro 10:12 Hatred stirs up strife, But love covers all sins. Pro 10:13 Wisdom is found on the lips of him who has understanding, But a rod is for the back of him who is devoid of understanding. Pro 10:14 Wise people store up knowledge, But the mouth of the foolish is near destruction.

:24: :24: Oh Jackie, you really crack me up. Look in the mirror at your post. Your reply is a perfect example of my post. You misread and misjudged this entire thread because I posted it and you tried to bring in old personal arguments and unforgiveness. Tsk tsk As to the topic, I'm talking about the ACT, not talking about people's faults. NO wonder people change their screen names! But the question remains, it is deception. I believe it is. whether it is deception or not Vickilynn, should not matter to you or me...if a person is being deceptive by this then let them take it to the Lord. That's all I'm saying.... you speak of misjudging? "you bring old arguments and unforgiveness. Ttsk Tsk".....you just acted your own words...as for old arguments and unforgiveness I moved passed that stuff the moment I admitted my fault and asked for forgiveness, privately and you said forgiven, so why do you bring it to the table for all to see now?...none of that old stuff was on my mind nor was it in my heart when I posted this morning, so perhaps it is yourself, who has resentment of old argument and unforgiveness since it was you who pursued this line of conversation. Whatever it is that you are attempting to accomplish by this thread has already turned South so perhaps you need to take a closer look at your own words... be blessed Vickilynn and have an awesome day in the Lord Shalom Jackie, Again, your post is a perfect example of why people change their names. Misjuding. if you say so Vickilynn.....

she's a spunky young girl whose daddy was killed by the man he took in and helped in times of hardship. She met up with good ol' Rooster Cogburn (John Wayne) and Glen Campbell (don't remember his screen name for the movie) and they went on the hunt to find that man who murdered her daddy. After they got the guy, Maddie told Rooster that she liked him as he had True Grit...the movie must be at least 30 yrs old.....it's a good movie
-
as Maddie from the movie True Grit said "who knows what's in a man's heart" seems to me bringing this topic up is childish and a perfect example of how people look for the faults in others and ignore their own. IMO

Oh THAT!!! I must be getting old!

Passing onto you artsylady, what the Lord pressed into me after prayer this morning....... Isa 54:2 "Enlarge the place of your tent, And let them stretch out the curtains of your dwellings; Do not spare; Lengthen your cords, And strengthen your stakes. Isa 54:3 For you shall expand to the right and to the left, And your descendants will inherit the nations, And make the desolate cities inhabited. Isa 54:4 "Do not fear, for you will not be ashamed; Neither be disgraced, for you will not be put to shame; For you will forget the shame of your youth, And will not remember the reproach of your widowhood anymore. Isa 54:5 For your Maker is your husband, The LORD of hosts is His name; And your Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel; He is called the God of the whole earth. Isa 54:6 For the LORD has called you Like a woman forsaken and grieved in spirit, Like a youthful wife when you were refused," Says your God. Isa 54:7 "For a mere moment I have forsaken you, But with great mercies I will gather you. Isa 54:8 With a little wrath I hid My face from you for a moment; But with everlasting kindness I will have mercy on you," Says the LORD, your Redeemer. Isa 54:9 "For this is like the waters of Noah to Me; For as I have sworn That the waters of Noah would no longer cover the earth, So have I sworn That I would not be angry with you, nor rebuke you. Isa 54:10 For the mountains shall depart And the hills be removed, But My kindness shall not depart from you, Nor shall My covenant of peace be removed," Says the LORD, who has mercy on you. Isa 54:11 "O you afflicted one, Tossed with tempest, and not comforted, Behold, I will lay your stones with colorful gems, And lay your foundations with sapphires. Isa 54:12 I will make your pinnacles of rubies, Your gates of crystal, And all your walls of precious stones. Isa 54:13 All your children shall be taught by the LORD, And great shall be the peace of your children. Isa 54:14 In righteousness you shall be established; You shall be far from oppression, for you shall not fear; And from terror, for it shall not come near you. Isa 54:15 Indeed they shall surely assemble, but not because of Me. Whoever assembles against you shall fall for your sake. Isa 54:16 "Behold, I have created the blacksmith Who blows the coals in the fire, Who brings forth an instrument for his work; And I have created the spoiler to destroy. Isa 54:17 No weapon formed against you shall prosper, And every tongue which rises against you in judgment You shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, And their righteousness is from Me," Says the LORD.

artsylady said: hmmm fully understanding... as James said: Jam 1:25 But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does. Jam 1:26 If anyone among you[fn2] thinks he is religious, and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this one's religion is useless. Jam 1:27 Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world. Each and Every DAY!!!!

Sorry I am late to this discussion, and I appologize for being a new voice going back to the beginning and interrupting where the discussion has been going, but I don't have time right now to read the thread. Any, I just wanted to comment on this. Of all Peretti's books, I appreciated this one the most. Most Christian books (fiction) seem to focus on an unsaved person getting saved. This book was a very rare look at a life-long Christian struggling with his Christian walk. It was refreshing to read about the main character's past and thinking, "I can relate!" It is not often that Christian fiction authors tackle the struggles of practical faith, disappointments, dissalusionments, struggles and such that face our daily walks. Kudos! well I'm only into the fifth chapter of the book and I have laughed more in those chapters than any complete book I've read. The laughter comes from seeing the actions and words of denominational conflicts...the superior attitudes of one denomination over the other. It truly cracks me up...I see Worthy and every other forum I have ever been in right there in front of my face. And the main character's attitude so much like my own at times......for him right now everything in life is just one big <SIGH>....LOL!!

truthfully, I have such a don't care attitude toward that kind of judgment that I am frequently "in trouble" for being as labeled "disobedient and rebellious"....heheheheeeeeee makes me laugh so hard

NO!! great post, it opens up this topic to what the truth of the matter is...we can either sit idly and complacently by and let others do what we are ALL commissioned to do, or we can get off of our comfort cans and become His hands and feet! No matter how it must be done...so what if we have to pretend one thing to get through the borders...we are in a war here and in war all measures are used to infiltrate the enemy camp The rules and boundries that are set by the Lord by all means we should follow and be inline with. The problem lies in man building upon them to restrict and restrain...definitely a tool of the enemy both the devil and the pride and flesh of man...this is one of the many ways that the enemy has infiltrated our camp thanks for posting artslady...what you had to say was very relevant and good

I believe that spark Richard, begins the moment we are conceived in Christ and I believe that daily that spark has life breathed into it should it become just an ember...never will He leave us nor forsake us, we are His all we need do is seek and knock for each door that is closed to us will readily be opened once we enter into Life with Christ. The answer lies within knowing who Jesus is and making a concious effort to commune with Him daily. As I am sure that you know, the more we draw closer to Jesus to more He draws closer to us.....this part isn't really the mystery. And it is also not mysterious to know that as we partake from His tree of life, we find ourselves for we are in Him and He in us and as He prayed to the Father in John 17 we have become one with Him and the Father. Gen 2:7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being. This too me is the "essence" and the answer to all mystery. The mystery being that Adam and all man kind has had the very breath of God breathed into them. God did not speak into existance man as He did with the rest of creation. God did not say, after Adam's body was formed by the Lord's hands from the very dust of the earth, now breathe....No God lowered Himself to the nostrils of Adam and gave him life through God's very breath, He breathed the Spirit of Life into Adam. Gives me glorious goosebumps when I think of it..... So, back to the beginning of this post....Life begins with the Lord in every aspect...the spark is already ignited. As the Lord leads the spark becomes a flame...It becomes no longer necessary for us to be eating from the tree of good and evil, the tree that keeps us locked into the wants and desires of the flesh...this tree that keeps us in the world. As we have been told to not eat of that tree, but we are free to eat of the tree of Life. That was given to us when we resurrected spiritually in Christ through baptism. So, I have to say that searching for something is a soulish thing and not Spirit inspired, for our search should have ended once we partook of the tree of life.......easier said than done of course, but it is the truth of the matter. God Almighty said that there would come a day when it would no be longer necessary for man to teach man. And after Christ ascended into Heaven the Holy Spirit as promised came to teach and comfort and guide...it is through the Holy Spirit that we gain understanding (if we are listening) of what the trappings and ritualistic activities of religion do to us and how it can quench the very Spirit/spirit living in us.....it is also through the Spirit that we gain the wisdom needed to understand the Word of God in the manner that God intended for it to be.....a Life Giving Promise to those who love Him. I am sure that you are aware of these things Richard, yet I found it important to put it out there for everyone to see....the search has ended..ourselves have been discovered. We set aside the things of the flesh that bind us to this world and we come into step with the Lord and follow in His footsteps through our life's journey, we (flesh) decrease, that He might increase. Blessed be the name of the Lord!!

A very interesting statement Jackie. I would ask if you would be so kind as to carry that line of reasoning out a few steps further. In His love, Richard Sure Richard...we need only look to Paul and Ephesians 6...he is quite clear that we do not wrestle with flesh and blood of others but powers and principalities...the enemies goal is to steal, kill and destroy. Those who have it in their minds that because we are Christian we are automatically exempt from deception and attack do so with blind haughtiness toward the fact that the spirit realm-Good and evil-are the hidden power behind all action and reaction. Not only are we susceptible to it, we as Christians are the prime target by the enemy, as he has no need to fight for the world it already belongs to him. He will come at us from every angel possible to wear us down and take over our house like the thief breaking into the man's home who is away..As Jesus said, if the man had known at which hour the thief would have come to rob him he would have remained alert. This statement of Jesus is concerning His return and being ready, it has the dual meaning of being on guard at all times. Being as wise as a serpent and as gentle as a dove....wise against the wiles and trickery of the enemy and as gentle as doves toward the creation of man...for man belongs to the Lord and we are not to take up sword and shield against them as we are to Satan and his army of demons.....It means that we view all things with a prayerful, watchful and spiritual eye...releasing the physical eye from seeing what it does as the physical eye is already deceived by what appears to be the norm. Eph 6:10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Eph 6:11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. Eph 6:12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age,[fn3] against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Eph 6:13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Eph 6:14 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, Eph 6:15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Eph 6:16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. Eph 6:17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; Eph 6:18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints-- Eph 6:19 and for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel, Eph 6:20 for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak. Paul, being a man who had revelation of spiritual knowledge, spoke quite clearly about this battle that ensues minute by minute and day by day...if he spoke of it and was the man that he was we can be pretty sure that he battled it as well....for Paul spoke much on experience. Does that paint a clearer portrait Richard?
