  1. "...The student continued, "Professor, does darkness exist?" The professor responded, "Of course it does." The student replied, "Once again you are wrong sir, darkness does not exist either. Darkness is in reality the absence of light. Light we can study, but not darkness. In fact we can use Newton's prism to break white light into many colors and study the various wavelengths of each color. You cannot measure darkness. A simple ray of light can break into a world of darkness and illuminate it. How can you know how dark a certain space is? You measure the amount of light present. Isn't this correct? Darkness is a term used by man to describe what happens when there is no light present." " This is taken from a one-page essay I recieved about a year ago, and it speaks truth. In layman's terms, sin is 'darkness' and rightiousness is 'light' (if you'll excuse the spelling). So things associated with sin, such as Satan and demons, are 'darkness' and God is 'light.' Interesting topic.
  2. Smalcald: I see what you mean. Sometimes, for me at least, it's hard not to be fascinated with the scientific side of the Bible and disregard the fact that faith is encompassing... By the way, can I get feedback on my last post from unbelievers? I'm a bit curious to see how evolution responds to the last few bits of information...
  3. First things first: I'm not saying that evolution isn't accepted among almost all biologists in this world. Denying it would be an inexcusable show of ignorance, because it is. However, a theory is much different than a fact. I'm in science right now and we have just defined 'theroy' and 'fact.' For instance, a fact would be that if I drop a bowling ball from the top of my house, it will fall downward. The theroy is that gravity is pulling it downwards. Gravity is a widely accepted theory, but it is called a theroy because it can never be PROVED. Tons and tons of evidence can point towards there being something called "gravity" that pulls small masses toward other large masses, but it is never proved. Mind you, I'm not denying the existence of gravity... The difference between the theroy of gravity and the theroy of evolution is that evolution has several more flaws than the theroy of gravity. If there was no difference between the word "theroy" and the word "fact," they wouldn't have different terms. Again, I'm not saying that evolution does not have evidence for it, or that it isn't widely accepted by almost all biologists. I'm just saying that it's wrong. Sorry if I stepped on your toes there. And Observer of Dreams: Very, very good point.
  4. Taken from a strictly scientific front (meaning that I'm not going to quote Bible verses or give biblical evidence in this particular post)... The first law of thermodynamics states that something CANNOT be created from nothing. This is a foundational belief in every single branch of science. However, something had to be there to create the universe, correctly? Zero + Zero = The Universe. That is the basic truth in the very beginning of the Big Bang theroy. Christian perspective, in a nutshell, is God + Zero = The Universe. Science contradicts itself there... how can that be? Either the law of thermodynamics isn't true, or the Big Bang isn't true. They can't both co-exist. In any case, it takes just as much faith to believe that something came from nothing to believe that something came from God. I don't ask them to remove evolution from the schools, but please don't teach it from the one-sided perspective. All that I've seen in school textbooks that even hints that evolution has flaws is that it is a "theroy" and "accepted by almost all biologists." Evolution has many many flaws that schools don't like to acknowledge. If you insist on teaching 'scientific' theories, please don't state only one side of the issue. So we've determined that at the very least, it takes just as much faith to believe in, "Once, two nothings collided and made the universe" than "Once, there was one nothing and God made the universe." To deny this would be immature, given the evidence stated above. That's just one tiny piece of flawed evidence in evolutionary theroy. ^__~ I have more, if you'd like to hear them. Or we can just debate about this post.
  5. It could have been created last sunday with age, the Bible, me, you and anything else by some other god. Are you sure you want to argue for this nonsense? With all due respect, it's not nonsense. I was simply posting a theory for the question asked. Who are you angry at? And if you think that evolution is any more "scientific" than creation, you are mistaken. God bless.
  6. Amen! God's love is extravagent, to quote Casting Crowns. It makes me want to sing...
  7. Adam was not created as a baby, he was created as an adult and with age. Who says that the universe coudln't have been created with age, too?
  8. I just got that movie for my birthday. In any case, it's hilarious. Some things are parodies of the Cathiloc church, but nothing extremely offensive.
  9. Yes we should all sit at your feet, in utter silence and listen to the pearls of wisdom that drop from your lips................................... Ooops, I mean yeah right! I was just playing around...but with comments such as the above, you are helping to make that joke look more like an accuracy... No big deal. ^__^ Humor among brothers and sisters in Christ.

  11. With all due respect, I've met men who are quarrelsome also... but girls in general are much more gossipy. Heh. Naziyr: I'm really glad you posted here-- it's really helpful to see your perspective on this. I'm in high school, and I know for a fact that you are based 90% off your looks. Immodest clothing suggests prostitution. (Unrelated question here, but how come when guys play around with tons of girls, they're "cool", and when girls do, they're whores? O_O And for that fact, why is it cool in the first place?!?!) Personally, I'm enjoying the fact that long shirts are coming back into fashion: I'm gonna buy a ton now so that I can wear them in case the short style comes back... because frankly, I don't believe anyone enjoyed that. Braching out from modesty... what do you think about punk? I've seen tons of different styles, from heavy mascara (and by heavy, I mean you could frost a cake with all the stuff they have on) versus tons of zippers on your jeans. I like some of the styles, but am afraid of the kind of image I will send to others, believers and unbelievers. I have Christian friends that shop at the store Hot Topic, while others won't go six feet from the store. The basic question here is, what immediate first impression do you get from people who wear the huge pants, fishnets, or have dyed hair? Do you think that they're freaks or maybe people you'd like to get to know? If you haven't figured it out yet, I like asking questions... XD
  12. Kabowd: Good point(s)! You brought up quite a few things that I'd never thought about before... thanks for taking the time to post such a legnthy reply. Tre awesome.
  13. Having a friend who struggled with an eating disorder, this really hits home. GO MEXICO!
  14. I'm curious to people's thoughts on this-- although it's more of a issue for women than men... 1 Timothy 2:9 says, "And I want women to be modest in their appearance. They should wear decent and appropriate clothing and not draw attention to themselves by the way they fix their hair or by wearing gold or pearls or expensive clothes." In most cases, we take this to mean not to dress suggestively (low-riders, strapless tops, et cetera). But I'm wondering... has society numbed our veiw to that verse? We are made in God's image, so in His eyes, we're already perfect. So how far do you go in "dressing up" until it's a sin? Make-up wise... you don't want to look inappropriate (for lack of a better word). Where do you draw the line? Mascara and blush? Or can you add liner? Or is make-up itself a sin? How low do your low-riders go? What about heels? Shorts? And going to the other extreme, what about plastic surgery? Personally, I am curious. I don't even like to wear make-up, but I'd like to know for myself and my friends. Does anyone have thoughts on this?
  15. I agree with Angel... blessings don't always mean 'money'. Tithing is important, though. My views on tithing (just because yours is different doesn't mean it's wrong ^__~) is that anything you give to charity is part of your tithing. (Example: 5% of income to church, 1% to school system, 2% to homeless, 1% to library). The point is to have a generous spirit, and not to tithe just because the Bible says to-- if you obey with your head and not your heart, it's hypocrisy.
