No, that's because there is no plan for victory - at least that is why I, a political conservative, do not support this war. Between 1941 and 1945 we beat both Japan and Germany. But can't bring a conclusion to this mess in about the same amount of time. What did we learn from Korea and Viet Nam? NOTHING! MacArthur said, The purpose of war is victory, not prolonged indecision. 3,500 dead and 6 to 8 times that wounded and maimed. Maimed for life

Jimmy Carter has gone over the edge
Old Timer replied to Matthitjah's topic in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict
The main problem, as I see it, is that Carter is known as a Christian, and as is evident here his pronouncements are reported in Israel and his opinions are assumed by many Jews to be that of all Christians. He does damage not only to the U.S- Israel relationship but to the Jew-Christian relationship. At 82 I can excuse him of his short-sightedness, I just wish he would rock in his chair, pick his peanuts and keep his mouth shut. -

Perhaps Olmert thinks this is the way to avoid a war: (IsraelNN.com) The IDF is preparing for a defensive war with Syria, even as Prime Minister Ehud Olmert continues to send messages of peace to President Bashar Assad. The prime minister told the Syrian president last month that Israel would be willing to withdraw from the Golan Heights if Syria were prepared to make peace, according to the Hebrew newspaper Yediot Aharonot. The Syrian ruler responded positively to the offer, the newspaper stated. The report said Prime Minister Olmert instructed his aides to make contacts with Assad following an hour-long phone conversation with American President George W. Bush in May. The U.S. president reportedly gave his go-ahead for the contacts despite the stated American policy that dissuades Israel from dealing with Syria as long as it supports terrorism. A number of other government officials are supporting continued efforts to cool down the situation. IDF Chief of General Staff Lt.-Gen. Gabi Ashkenazi has reportedly advised the government to conduct secret negotiations with Syria in the hopes of staving off a conflict. The army chief of staff warned in a speech to the IDF Officers Training School earlier this year,

Try this... Explain could evolve. Give it (evolution) up folks. It's the only alternative to a belief in God and so you cling to a worn out, un-provable theory.

Board members, staff, and volunteers at the new Creation Museum in northern Kentucky say skeptics who take the time to tour the 60,000-square-foot facility are impressed. And one board member with Answers in Genesis says he learned many lessons from God during the planning and construction of the recently opened museum. For the rest of the story - Link here. Here's a page with news links reporting the opening.

And in a post just below this we read how Hamas "captured" weapons the U.S. supplied to Fatah. And in other news rockets fired from Gaza into the Israeli town of Sderot wounded two. And, oh yes, the U.S and the EU are not sending any representatives to Jerusalem to celebrate Jerusalem Day's 40th anniversary. I know God has everything in hand but I still get angry.

Update: tried the demo. It wouldn't run on a Windows XP Pro machine with 4 gig RAM and Fast Video card. Seemed to uninstall Ok. Try it at your own risk! I have not tried this game yet. The Demo is the full version but without the registation code to allow extended play. If anyone tries it please post your reactions. http://www.peacemakergame.com/ This is from Yahoo News: JERUSALEM - Many have tried. All have failed. But with a new computer game, you can make peace in the Middle East. The software, called "PeaceMaker" and manufactured by Israeli and U.S. programmers in the United States, allows you to play the part of the Israeli prime minister or the Palestinian president and make diplomatic, security and economic decisions. The interface shows a map of Israel and the Palestinian territories. Windows pop up periodically, each presenting a picture or video of a scenario, such as a Palestinian suicide bombing or an Israeli air strike, likely to trigger a response. As in real life, each move leads to a reaction by a party to the conflict or within the international community. The goal of the peacemaker is to reach compromises and eventually a peace agreement, leading to the establishment of a Palestinian state. "The secret is to opt for the middle route, to walk between the drops and not make radical decisions," said one of the developers, Israeli native Asi Burak. "You have to know when to ignore things and when to respond." If you play the Israeli leader and order an air strike following a Palestinian attack, you risk stoking Palestinian anger and more violence. A tough military response might also draw criticism from world powers, who may deny you support. But if you choose not to respond militarily, you may face criticism at home, and could eventually be voted out of office. As Palestinian president, you will likely win support from Israel and the international community if you rein in militants after a suicide bombing in the Jewish state, according to the game's parameters. But confronting militants could make you unpopular among a Palestinian electorate that voted the Islamic group Hamas into office in 2006. A more cautious approach might be to demand Israel stop military action in Gaza and the occupied West Bank. MIDDLE ROUTE Burak and Eric Brown created the game as a project during their time at Carnegie Mellon University in Pennsylvania, which has since used it in its courses. They began selling it online earlier this year under their label ImpactGames. "We tried to answer all the things that we felt were critical

Israel should state to the world: Any encroachment on Israeli territory by invasion or incoming ordance will result in the following: 1. A full or partial occupation by Israeli forces of such territory from which the intrusion occurred by any or all means at our disposal. 2. All or part of such territory will be considered as now belonging to the state of Israel. 3. At our discretion all occupants of such territory will be deported to the state or nation from which such intrusion was initiated.

CONCORD, New Hampshire (Reuters) - New Hampshire lawmakers authorized same-sex civil unions on Thursday, in a bill that will complete New England's transformation into a unique U.S. region where gay and lesbian couples have some form of legal recognition and conjugal rights. The Democratic-controlled Senate voted 14-10 along party lines to give gays and lesbians nearly the same rights as married couples. The bill sailed through the House of Representatives on April 4, and Democratic Gov. John Lynch said last week he would sign it. New Hampshire, known for its official motto "Live Free or Die," will become the fourth U.S. state to allow same-sex civil unions when the law takes effect on Jan 1. The law marks a shift in the state's traditionally conservative politics. Entire article

I don't think you're disagreeing with anything in my post. Essentially I was saying we should keep the electoral college as is (which is what you are proposing apparently) or do away with the electoral college and go by nationwide popular vote. Sorry for the confusion. Sorry if I misunderstood. I thought you were agreeing with the Maryland decision. The Electoral vote procedure is how we preserve and respect the views of the minority.

A bad idea??? That "bad idea" is called FREEDOM! I, so far, have the freedom to cast my ballot for whomever I choose. If the majority in my state so choose to cast their ballots for the Devil himself then those votes should be cast for the Devil, no matter how the rest of the country votes.
