  1. newspaper office isnt owned by senator freinstein whats her name is it? LOL
  2. when our government-including the Obama family, turns in their guns, maybe Ill take them seriously. Maybe.
  3. I disagree. We should be resisting, and at least warn them of what is to come.
  4. I like the ads for the conspiracy theories on the page.
  5. lots of good things to use them on. If I had the money, id be out buying another myself to be honest. There are a few guns I would like to get, that if they get a new assault weapons ban in place I wont be able to.
  6. well theres not anything about to go in effect yet. hopefully cool heads will prevail. If gun laws need to be enacted (which I dont think they do) but if they do, it should be done by people actually weighing the evidence and looking at it with a cool head. Its all about emotion right now, no ones thinking with a clear head.
  7. Um brother mike, you make some wild claims here, the biggest is that Jesus and Paul said we are gods-but what you did not do is present scriptural evidence of said claims. So I ask, where is this in scripture?
  8. semi auto and full auto are not the same, full auto it will fire until you let go of the trigger, semi-auto will only fire once. and you are correct, the assault rifle and other fully automatic weapons are illegal to the general public. There is a process you can go through to own one, but its difficult enough only the enthusiasts can get them, and theyre not the ones you have to worry about shooting up schools, theyre the ones who do competition shooting and re-enactments, and the like. Semi-automatic weapons, such as the AR-15, are fully legal and can be purchased at your local cabelas or even wal-mart.
  9. the Bushmaster AR-15 that they are calling an assault rifle, is not actually an assault rifle, but a mid length semi-automatic rifle. An assault rifle, must use an intermediate cartridge, must have a detachable magazine, and must have a selectable rate of fire. As in you have to be able to switch between semi-automatic fire (the gun fires every time you pull the trigger) and automatic fire (the gun will continue to fire when holding the trigger down, at least be able to fire a 3 round burst) Now, lets look at the M-16, the US militarys assault rifle. It uses an intermediate cartridge, the .223. It has a detachable magazine, and it has a selectable rate of fire, semi-automatic, and 3 round burst (each time you pull the trigger it fires 3 rounds) Now, lets look at the m-4. Again, it uses the .223 and has a detachable magazine. It has a selectable rate of fire, between semi-auto, and full auto (no burst, it will fire as long as you hold the trigger down, until the magazine is empty) Both the M-16 and the M-4 are true assault rifles. Now, lets look at the Bushmaster AR-15 used in the new town shooting. It uses the same frame as the m4 and the m16. It uses the same round-the .223. It also has a detachable magazine. However, it does not have the selectable rate of fire, it only has semi automatic fire, which means each time you pull the trigger, you fire only a single round. to fire again, you have to release the trigger, and pull it again. You can only fire as fast as you can work that trigger-which is actually pretty fast, the .223 round doesnt kick that bad, so it does fire rapidly. It is an assault style weapon-but it is not a true assault rifle.
  10. first off, your taking what I said out of context. Yes, he went to the sanhedrin, because His problem was with them. He did not go to them to tell them to take care of a problem He had with other people, which is what your doing-your going to the government, to have them "deal" with the problem. Secondly, I see no difference between calling a group a bunch of "meanie heads" and a "hate group" there isnt. Its both name calling. Period. And its just because you dont like what theyre doing. They have the same freedom of speech and religion, and the same right to protest that you do. Is it dispicaple? yes, but its still their right to do so. and calling them a "hate group" wont change that. its still name calling, no matter what you call it. Thirdly, Jesus never, ever went to someone else, and had them call the sadduccees a brood of vipers, He did it to their face. He never used the government or any third party. So your argument about Jesus calling people what they are is invalid, because He did it to their face-He didnt have the government do it for Him. Jesus fought His own battles, He didnt ask the corrupt government to fight them in His place.
  11. they dont even know what an assault rifle is, how would you expect the media to be able to tell whether it was used or not? thats my quesiton.
  12. Where are you finding this information? from what Im seeing they havent released that information yet, and whats out there are conflicting reports. I read one article that said it was pistols and there was a AR-15 in the trunk, another said he used the AR-15 and it was a saiga in the trunk.
  13. actually what they are saying is two semi-automatic handguns, which can actually fire faster then a single semi-automatic rifle (notice I said semi-auto rifle as an AR-15 is not an assault rifle) and can actually, with practice, put multiple rounds through each victim quickly and efficiency, and allow him to move on to the next. Add spare mags into that, and ya, its very believable, if not more so then a single semi-auto rifle.
  14. maybe he just happened to be in the woods? and not connected just a coincidence maybe? or maybe the medias covering something up. Who knows.
  15. some things are understandable, in a shooting like that its easy for some details to get confused-like number of shooters, etc. easy to do in the confusion, it really is. But, after a day or so, the stories should become consistent because the facts are out there. But when theyre constantly changing after that short time, and then theyre trying to shift the focus entirely onto guns, then yes there is a problem.
  16. If you ask me, I don't think Jesus would sit there and petition the government, to call them a hate group. Now, Biblically, He was known for calling people on what they were-He called the sadduccees and pharisees a pit of vipers, but notice, He did it to their face, He didn't go to the government, and say "do something about it" In fact, lets look at what the Bible says about this. Matthew 5:44 But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you. how is name calling, even government sanctified name calling, loving? Romans 12:19-21 Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written "vengeance is mine, I will repay says the Lord" to the contrary "if your enemy is hungry, feed him, if he is thirsty, give him something to drink, for by doing so you will heap burning coals on his head" Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. So, instead of ministering to them, were signing a petition, asking the government to call them a hate group. Which will only encourage them, and then what? the logical next step is government intervention, and then spreading to other things. Just because YOU see a difference between WBO and your church, doesnt mean the government does. Instead, minister to them, and trust God will take care of it. In the Bible, if you notice, EVERY time a sinful church is addressed, it is the church that is addressed directly by the person doing the rebuking, not through a third party, not from the government. Jesus called the religious leaders into play face to face, Paul wrote to the churches who were sinning. And nowhere, does the apostle Paul, call them a hate group. Is what westboro doing wrong? yes. its wrong. but its their right to do so-we live in, at least what we want to believe, is a free nation. We cant sit here, and tell someone that they dont have the right to do this, or that theyre a hate group for it, and expect everyone else to respect our freedom to worship in the way we choose. Right or wrong, it wont work that way-once we start the labeling game, it will come back and bite us.
  17. No you didnt, you said you wernt going to answer any "hypothetical questions" about what Jesus would do. That is an invalid answer, or at least it should be. Asking ourselves what Jesus would do, is a question we all need to ask ourselves.
  18. theyre yelling to ban assault rifles because of this shooting, and the funny thing was it was left in the car. And lets not forget the fact that an AR-15 is technically not a assault rifle to begin with. . .
  19. shiloh, why do you have to be insulting? muster the brain power? really? Steve brings forward a good, solid point. Yes, protesting abortion clinics is a good thing, something we feel strongly about. Westboro, does its protests, because most of the members honestly think theyre doing something right-they feel as strongly about what theyre doing, as what you feel when you protest an abortion clinic.I think the leaders, are up to no good, but I think most of the members, are simply following a lie. Involving the government would be unwise and wrong, and petitioning the government to call them a hate group would be wrong. Again, I ask, what would Jesus do? you seem to be doing an excellent job of dodging that question. What would Jesus do here?
  20. that just goes to show you walla, that God made us much hardier then the twinkie
  21. very good point steve.
  22. wow, I know were heading towards a one world government, but for the leading member of the worlds largest church to call for it, I never saw that one coming. . . the catholic church must be going for an all time low.
  23. well, Ive already described the slippery slope, so I wont argue that anymore. I will say, however, that if we need this "petition" to seperate us from this group-then we, as a church, have failed. period. We have failed. It should be Christ that sets us apart-both spiritually and physically, not some petition. And its not beside the point it is the point. It should be the point of everything we do. If it is not, then we have failed. And how is it not forming animosity toward them? yes, they have been building animosity toward us for a long time, but two wrongs do not make a right. And third, as I have explained, a "petition" will not marginalize them. They will just see such a petition as encouragement-that they are in the right. Furthermore, if the government assigns them the label, it will again, just encourage them to do more. So by doing this, we are being creating animosity toward them, opening the door for the government to poke their noses in where it doesnt belong, and for what? for nothing, it will just encourage their cause. So we have lots to lose, and absolutly nothing to gain. As for "hypothetical" questions, that really should be our focus. We are Christians, that means followers of Christ-focusing on What Jesus would do Should be our Primary focus on everything. Including this petition.
  24. Its a slippery slope, we dont want to go down. And how is it not? Instead of "mommy hes a meanie head" its "hey mr government theyre haters" its still the same thing. And im sorry, but if we need the government to seperate us from tbem-then were in worse trouble then I thought. Christ is who sets me apart-not the government nor any petition. And do you think Jesus would sign some sillypetition labeling this a "hate group" or do you think He would instead find some way to minister to them? Were spending to much time building animosity towards this group-which is the natural, human, response, and not enough time are battle isnt against them or antthing else of this world.theyre people they need Jesus to, not encouragement which is all a government label will do.
