  1. Ive worked daycare, Ive been in similar situations, sure there were other methods that they "could" have used, but any time you try to phyiscally restrain a child like that, no matter what method you use, you run the risk of the child being injured or someone else being hurt, and on top of that if theres multiple adults restraining the child, well schools are shorthanded as it is, the more adults that are being tied up restraining that child the more likely it is that other children may be put at risk. And if the child gets injured-or even if they dont, the school runs the risk of a lawsuit in todays society. Lets put it in perspective-what is so evil about handcuffs? lets put all things aside, and look at just the handcuffs. Police show up, child is extremely violent, and has been pointed out if medical staff had been alerted they would have just called the police-but the police show up, phyiscally holding the child has obviously been tried otherwise they wouldnt be there, the parents obviousy-havent been able to be reached, because unless its suspected child abuse, its still the norm to call the parents, what do you expect them to do? If it was a 25 year old doing something like that, they would have been cuffed, thrown in the squad car and locked in jail. That is the procedure, its not malicious, its not meant to do harm, but it is the procedure. Police pick up a drunk? he goes in handcuffs and off to jail. Any time the cops detain anyone-they handcuff them, thats procedure. In this case-the cops really did what they had to do-the followed procedure in cuffing the child, and then removing the child from the premises, which actually may have been a good idea-sometimes a change of scenery and people will calm even the worst children down-and once they got to the station, and the child had calmed, they actually broke the procedure, and after removing the cuffs allowed her to sit in the squad room with soda until the parents arrived to collect her, anyone else would have been in a 6 x 9 cell, with water if they were lucky. On top of that, with the cuffs, if the child injured herself they can safely say it was all on the child-no one can accuse the cops of abusing the child. Me perhaps, I would have tried to physically restrain her until the parents could be called, but I still say what they did wasn't wrong. They probably could have handled it better, but I wouldnt say it was wrong.
  2. First off, any parent who says their kid hasnt thrown a temper tantruum ofsone sort is lying, they are to a point normal. Good parents, like mine curbed them so they didnt reach this extreme, but many parents dont. Could this child have some sort of mental issue? Certainly, but the article didnt indicate any history of such, and the police were called, and they followeds mental procedure. If the child has mental issues, then why didnt the parents notice before and have her checked out so the school knew what they were dealing with and how to deal with it. Maybe they didnt know-which means neither did the school so they made the call with the information they had available. From what I see the child wasnt abused-merely handcuffed for safety brought to the squad room and then uncuffed and given a soda once she calmed down. Right now, the best thing to do is have her checked out for any such mental disease and investigate the parents to ensure it isnt neglect and then take steps to prevent it from happening again. But I cant see as anyone at the school or pd doing anything wrong given the circumstances.
  3. What, so she could throw needles at docters? Please, nothing was wrong with her. Everyone who works with chilldren knows they throw temper tantruums occasionally when they dont get their way, and its also common sense that if the parents always let the child have his or her own way at home, then in school when the teacher doesnt then those tantruums are just going to get worse because that child is used to getting their own way. An ambulance won't fix that.
  4. I dont know about the alberquerque class, but I do know this child was throwing one heck of a temper tantruum, was throwing things at students and teachers, when physically restrained kept fighting etc. I agree the cops get called waaay to much these days, but in this case I can say Im not sure its the course I would have taken in this particular case, but I can at least understand why it was done.
  5. On the other side of it though look at it from the schools perspective, we have a child obviously out of control, all methods of discipline available to the treachers/principle has failed to work, even threat of calling the parents, if they had let the child run rampant she could have hurt herself or another student, which could have landed them with a lawsuit-physically restraining the child until the parents could arrive, could again, result in a lawsuit especially if she was injured in anyway, what real choice did they have? Other then sore wrists, the handcuffs really didnt hurt the child any. . .personally, while I think its definetly a bit extreme, but I can definetly understand why they did what they did and don't think it was abuse. And I would also wonder about the parents-I mean seriously, when I was a kid, threatening to call my parents wouldve been enough to get me to calm down right fast.

  7. Im sure many of you have heard this song, what Im wondering how many of you know who originally wrote, and sang it (the version playing on the radio today is not by the song writer or original singer) anyway so, here goes:
  8. I love that song to, its to bad I couldnt have found a video of it somewhere (other then one with the lyrics) the lyrics are great, but I prefer to watch the actual band perform, either in a music video done by them or in a professionally filmed live performance. I cant stand all those cell phone videos of bands out there lol.
  9. Ok all I debated about whether to post this or not, this is one of my favorite bands right now and this pretty much is my favorite song, however the only really good video I could find of it is when they performed live on the Conan show (ugh) however, if you can ignore the 30 seconds of conan, this is an awesome video by one of my favorite christian Rock bands, its Faceless by Red, from their album Until we have faces. (again ignore conan) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5OmoY9xfYxg
  10. you hit a key point oldzimm, a lot is dependent on the situation-in an open environment like an alley or say wal-mart, Once the guy goes down and not moving I think id be much more likely to move off to a safe location and send the cops in...while in my house I might be a bit more aggressive in finding out whether hes just down or down and out of the game. Though, Im not the type of person to say, lets assume guy shoots at me, I shoot back and miss, and he drops his gun and runs-Im certainy not going to chase him down or continue the encounter.
  11. I understand that-and in a self defense scenario I would to, what Im saying is there is a difference between unloading a mag into someone until they go down, and unloading a mag into a guys skull once hes already down. That was what I was trying to get at.
  12. In a self-defense situation, you neutralize the threat. You do not simply try and stop the attack, you are supposed to, and are trained to render the attacker unable to attack you any further, by either wounding them so badly that they can no longer continue the attack, then or in the future, or killing them. If you are thinking about counseling them after the attack is over, giving them a Bible and praying with them, your mind isn't in the right place and you've already lost the fight. At that instant in time, the person attacking you or your wife is outside of the law and whatever happens to them from that point on is merited by their unlawful actions. They are responsible for whatever happens to them, no matter how bad it is. If they weren't there attacking you, they wouldn't be stopping a bullet, would they? Your misunderstanding the whole scenario-yes, if someone is coming after me to threaten me, I will be shooting center mass. What Im getting at is if persay, you shoot the guy, he goes down, and he somehow manages to survive through it, so perhaps I should have said IF he survives, then we shouldnt go and put another in the poor guys head. . .this isnt just about guns, if you spray someone in the face with pepper spray, and take off you don't return 15 minutes later with a 12 gauge to finish the guy off, that would be revenge. Its common knowlege if your carrying a gun and your in a situation where you need to defend yourself you aim center mass, I understand that, what I was getting at was the intent behind the action, not necessarily the action itself.
  13. It has to do with intent, if someone were to come after ones wife with a knife and try and injure her or even succeed at doing so, it is very easy to lose control and not only stop the man-say, you fire a shot and wound the guy, and he stops the attack, but then to shoot again to finish him off out of vengeance. I love my wife, and can say that I would face that temptation. But no-the loving thing would be to call 911 and get the guy medical attention, and while no, sitting there at the curb saying "I forgive you" may not necessarily be good timing, it probably wouldnt hurt to pray for the man and perhaps give him a Bible when hes in the hospital. There is a difference between shooting someone in defense-and shooting someone out of vengeance or malice, if its in defense, your only goal is protect you and your family-your not doing it cuz you hate the guy whos attacking, your simply doing it to protect those you love.
  14. He drew the sword to protect Jesus, and as Ive already pointed out, Jesus told him to put the sword away-even slightly rebuked peter for his actions, but did not tell Peter to get rid of the sword. And yes, He also healed the soldiers ear-which is a good point, theres a lot to be learned here, for example we need to stop at defense-and make sure that what were doing is indeed defending ourselves, and not an act of revenge-i.e. stop shooting when the threat is neutralized. Another valid point-is to love our enemies-Jesus showed that here by healing the soldiers ear. If we have to defend ourselves-after the fact, we need to forgive the person attacking us, and show them Christs love.
  15. personally, I have a 1997 F-150, I love it it handles nice and gets around great. Only gets about 10 mpg right now, but thats only because the engines misfiring, average 17 mpg when running smoothly (it has 308,000 miles on it, so a slight misfire due to leaking exhaust manifolds actually not much to complain about) I also have a 1997 Oldsmobile Aurora, which avgs. 26-27 mpg on the highway, and while Im not a big car person, I dont mind this one, decently roomy and comfortable, and lots of power under the hood (4 liter V8) good highway runner. I also have a 1974 Ford Thunderbird, but its my project car-I dont drive it anymore.
  16. Ive seen him in concer once to, and neither of those songs were played either lol. Hes got a lot of music that he does. Lot of videos to.
  17. pepper spray is an effective method, my wife carries military grade spray in her purse, however for me personally, I don't because I dont like carrying a lot of excess hardware (such as pepper spray and a gun) and pepper spray doesn't always work-there is a small percentage of people that pepper spray does not work on (roughly 4% so not high) So if Im going to carry something its going to cover all the basis-the appearance of a gun is enough to scare most criminals away, and the ones it don't, well I reckon thats why you carrry ammo in the gun. Now, don't get me wrong, theres nothing wrong with pepperspray-the chances of you running into someone whos immune it it are slim to none, Im just slightly paranoid, I dont want to spray someone, and then have to worry about trying to get my gun out in time if the spray doesnt work. As far as innocent people getting hit by a through and through, well that is indeed a valid concern, but one thats can be lessoned. They make special ammo for the air marshals, that are designed not to go through and through, though that can be hard to find. They also make in some calibers pellet rounds-instead of a solid round, its kind of like a minature shotgun blast, wont go all the way through someone, and if you happen to miss, won't go near as far as a normal bullet and wont go through a wall. The downside is very limited range. I personally prefer the slower moving rounds, my personal carry weapon is the .40 S& W which is a very slow moving round, combined with Hornandy Ballistic tips-they expand on impact, and even if they go through a target, they slow down very quickly, and even if they go through their intended target will lose so much momentum as to not travel far past it. There is still the chance of a through and through or a miss hurting someone-which is the reason if your going to carry a gun (or any sort of weapon) you should know how to use it. Pepper sprays not hard, point and spray, but with a firearm one should take it out and practice with it regularly to ensure that they are both comfortable and accurate with it.
  18. KJs more hip hop then rap, but thats still a cool site.
  19. my question is, where are they finding these numbers-I dont recall the Bible being that specific about where some of these things were located?
  20. No really, its a love song called Something Beautiful-by the Newsboys.
  21. lol and theres the other thing about end times prophecy, there are soooo many different ways to interpret it. I can literally, sit down and debate both a pre-millenial and a all-millenial viewpoint convincingly. With that being said, Im neither, Im a pan-millenialist, I believe it will all pan out in the end. I dont tend to enter end times debates often either, while I enjoy a good discussion, these often turn into a heated argument and then creates division, so I tend to avoid them-why create division over something that the only 100% way to prove anyone right is to wait for it to actually happen. . .
  22. I dont want to see anyone kill anyone unnecessarily.
  23. guns can be intimidating, especially if youve never been around them. But if your careful with them, once you get comfortable with them their really not that intimidating-once you realize that without someone holding a gun, its just a hunk of wood and steel.
  24. absolutly, last I checked only citizens are allowed to vote, I don't really think its a crime asking someone to prove it. Funny, if any other country required proof of citizenship such as a photo ID, no one would bat an eyelash. If America does it? and seriously, even if you are illegal making a fake ID is pretty easy these days. . .
  25. The thing about prophecy is that often times its not recognized as such until after it appears. Obama care to mark of the beast? I dont think so, If Im reading the Bible correctly, we will have a one world government first, and then the mark of the beast will show up, so the things arnt falling into play. And as far as the "micro chip" is conncerned, someones been reading waaay to much left behind. Granted, those were good books, but Im not convinced they got everything biblically sound, they put in a LOT of writers imagination.
