Every complaint you had about the Church that spoke in tongues is actually evidence that the Gift was in operation in that Church. Look at Paul's criticism to the Corinthinan Church over their abuses of tongues. The gift was definitely real in the church, and they had all the same problems that lead many to believe that the tongues are not real. Paul was very careful to admonish them to practice love. I am pentecostal, so I can say this: Most pentecostals are a bunch of self conceited, egotistical, mean, people. However, None of that is evidence they do not have the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. They are however sounding brass that usually do a lot more damage than good. I am not saying other denominations are not prideful, but pentecostals have more than their fair share of judgmental "super saints." WHOA! please..don't make such a broad statement like that. People who choose to worship at Pentecostal Church are individuals who are a WORK in PROGRESS just like anybody else. Don't Judge every book by one book cover. While I do attend a pentecostal church.. I am in by no ways pentecostal. I am Christian. Now I know that your post is not directed towards me in anyway...but any one who happens to attend a pentecostal church and reads your post, will feel slighted in some type of way. Maybe the pentecostals at your church are conceited, egotistical, and mean...which would say a WHOLE lot about the leader. Again.. I am in no place to presume anything, but that could be something to keep a watchful eye on

What we are trying to say is that there are a whole host of people in this religious world that think they are Christians and walk this life under the teachings of OSAS and don't repent of their sins. It isn't that they just happen to fall in them. They actually walk this life thinking that Christ did everything on the cross for them and they don't have to repent of their sins they are currently living in because are taught that they are forgiven of them. They are also taught that they don't need the works of repentance which we are ordained to walk in. Works didn't bring us the grace of salvation, but we are ordained to walk in the works of repentance or we will wind up dying in the sins that Christ saved us from because we are not repenting of them. The blood of Christ may have washed away my past sins, but if I don't repent of my current and future sins then I will go to hell for staying in them. i.e. How many people do we know that are "Christians" but live in fornication, lie, swear, etc., without the thought of repentance? That is why this scripture was written - 2 Peter 2:20-22 For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning. For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them. But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire. The works that everybody is trying so hard to avoid are not "Dead", "Shiney", or "Wordly" works. They are the works we were ordained to walk in (Eph 2:10) and what we will be judged by. How many people avoid this scripture - Philippians 2:12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. Working out my salvation is this - Colossians 3:5-10 Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry: For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience: In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them. But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth. Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds; And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him: As I repent of these sins in my life I am walking in the works we were ordained to do. To deny these is to deny the will of God. Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. Ok..and this is a response to my post for what reasons? Clearly those who are "IN" Christ. are Doers of the word of God.

Whew! Let he who is without sin..... I do not "cleave" to anything but my Lord Jesus! Doctrines, teachings, rituals, religion and dead works be dashed, I know that I am saved because the Christ whom I love has given Himself willingly to sacrifice once for all. My salvation is assured because the blood of Christ is eternally efficacious. I have been saved. I am being saved. And I will be saved. Who are you, O man, to judge the condition of my heart? I think you need to re-read what I said. Closely re-read it. There was nothing judgmental about the post. I would most definitely put you in the category of "Godly Christian people." If you honelstly think about the practical application of OSAS outside the academic realm, when does its discussion come up? Who usually brings it up? Its normally the individual who tries to justify their sinful ways. I believe the vast majority of christians that live a life a holiness, will admit that they do fall, however they do not continue to remain in the sinful. It is my opinion that this doctrine, makes room that you can live a life raising cain, and still profess to be living a life of holiness. In the concept that its being preached or viewed to day...I don't agree with it. But as long as we are in Christ..we will always be "saved"

I believe that this means... noone cand remove us from Gods hand, but we can remove ourselves. AMEN!

There is no second blessing, or additional blessings, we've got it all in Christ! Glory! God bless! There is another baptism! You don't get it all at salvation, unless you are extremely blessed. Then interpret this passage for me please... The scripture is self-explanatory. We are blessed with every spiritual blessing in Christ. Doesn't mean that we don't have to ask for the blessings! When I realized I needed the power of the Holy Spirit to fill me and anoint me, I asked for it and submitted to it, and received it. When I need wisdom, I ask for it. When I wanted tongues, I asked for it. Got them! God is good in delivering to us each spiritual blessing we need and desire! It is as the verse says...He chose us to be holy and blameless in spirit. It's a work in progress. As I implore of God, "MORE OF YOU AND LESS OF ME!" , I am becoming that chosen vessel that He sees as the finished product. Amen! WoOOo, I felt the fire on that one!

Has Your life been better since becoming a Christian?
HolyHands replied to emeraldgirl's topic in Apologetics
EG, My life is definitely better. Before I knew the Lord I was a mess! Literally. I did so many things that I am not proud of, but those experiences have helped me maintain my integrity in GOD. I have been a devout Christian for 8 years. I lived a life of sin for 21 years. During those times, it was easy to do wrong, because my conscience wouldn't allow me to feel bad about doing the unspeakable. One thing I can say is I am so glad that the Lord saved me. I am so glad that he saw my life spiriling out of control, and stepped in right on time. I think of the many times that God has spared my life..How I really should be dead. But he showed me grace and mercy and allowed me to continue to breath. Is my life better. Definitely. and it gets sweeter and sweeter as the days go by. Do I experience hardships, trials, and tribulations. Yes But I rather experience them, knowing that Jesus has "got my back" Than experience them without him. Without him...I am destined to fail, but with him.. I can reach the impossible. -
My husband bought me an IPOD. While i certainly didn't ask for it, I aint complaining. I listen to music all day long at work. Even downloaded some christian podcast today.. absolutely wonderful.

That verse in context refers to standing before the Lord in the day of judgment (1 John 4:17ff). When you are faced with irrational fears that paralyzes you from head to toe, witticisms like that do more harm than good. As one who struggles with fear constantly...meditating on the Word is what helps me the most. Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. (Phil. 4:8) I disagree simply because, the Spirit of fear does not come from God. When we are fearful we are often times paralized from moving forward in things that God is urging us to move forward in. Perfect love comes from God only and once we begin to realize that only in GOD do we Live, Move and have our Being...the fear will no longer be a hindrance. I heard a pastor say...and I totally agree.. How can we operate in which God has purposed for us to do, when we are too fearful and afraid to step out on faith.

Perfect love cast out all fear...

Yes, absolutely, and yes, God spoke alright...directly to the hearts and minds of those who wrote it down! amen.
