I don't know the man personally so its pretty difficult to discern whether he has any good fruit or not. He appears to be a good father...but thats just from afar through the media's lense. I can see the decisions he has made and I can see the persona that is given to me by the media...and I don't like much of what I see. I whole-heartedly disagree with a whole list of things he has to say...but that doesn't make him evil or satanic. I don't believe ANYONE here has said "Obama is a Christian because he said some christian sounding things." Nobody here is that naive. The division is between people that are willing to straight up make the judgement that he is not a Christian...and those of us who are not willing to make that judgement. Either he is unsaved, and needs our prayer...or he is saved and is seriously misguided, and needs our prayer. Obama's politics bother me enough to keep me political energized and involved...but not enough to make me play God.

WN: Obama and Israel: Showdown at the UN? - Fox News

I made it through it, but I should have done what everyone wishes Obama would have done...left the sermon. I know this stuff is important to some of you, so I won't make light of it...but I pretty much disagree with that guy. To his credit, he did acknowledge that "I know that some of my words are going to bother some of you..." They did. -
I'm with MG on this one. I too have have made the grievous error of judging another's salvation wrongly...it doesn't feel good. I have ALOT of distrust towards Obama. I don't like his politics or his decisions in any way, shape, or form. However...I won't judge the man's salvation (inspite of a mountain of disagreements both politically and theologically) ... Yeah...good point! I sure hope that the Jews who voted Democrat realize the error of their last vote and rectify that situation next time... -

Okay..after reading the article...it appears we have another case of sensationalistic headlines. I do however credit the reporter for presenting both sides of this alledged incident.... "US officials at the UN told Fox News that there is no such initiative before the Security Council and they are not "pursuing or encouraging such action"... They give absolutely no evidence other than some US official alledgedly talked to a foreign minister from the small country of Qatar...and alledgedly the topic came up. Call me crazy...but shouldn't we consider the source? This info came to light during a closed door meeting of the Arab League. The details of these meetings are secret but they decide to let the world know that some mysterious "high ranking" US official met with Qatar's foreign minister and let him know what America might do in a "what if" scenario...because there is no UN resolution pending or planned at this time. Seems to me that the Arab League has a lot to gain by trying to stir the pot between the US and Israel. -

Except..this time the majority of the Jews voted for the new Pharoah... -
I feel that way from time to time. Mostly, I feel I can handle the challenges the future might bring. I was raised well, and have a healthy dose of faith in God, and the perserverance to get through just about anything. HOWEVER... I worry about my four children. I worry I haven't prepared them well enough to face the challenges. Maybe they will be weaker in the faith because of my imperfections. The world is bombarding them on a level I never had to face as a young man growing up. When I start to think about my kids I start to wish the Lord would speed it up. I fear for them in this world. May God give me the strength and the wisdom to prepare them...

Christian Singer Jennifer Knapp Says She's Gay

I was so saddened when I read about this last week. As a parent it just seems like the homosexual lifestyle is being thrown at my children from every direction and when it comes from friendly territory it seems to be even more devastating. -
You mean chicken? Or this thread? LOL...I was referring to the story. The idea that KFC would "try" this ridiculous experiment with 86 restaurants. I could see an exploratory 2-3 places in a muslims community to see if its accepted...but to just throw out almost 90 places and then basically making a mockery of the whole thing seems crazy to me. I just think it was a stoopid idea and I was surprised they even attempted it.

This is craziness!

I'm sorry...but in a country of millions of people...there were 374 "manifestations of violence" (of which only 4% were actually violent)...and this is news? Yes, it stinks that people are prejudiced against Jews..but really we have an institute to track stoopid kids who spray paint swastikas on jewish buildings? C'mon. And this "institute" receives thousands of reports from all over the world. And yet only 1100 of them were actually anti-semitism according to their "strict criteria." So on our little planet with just over 7 billion people we have an institute to track 1100 bad things that happened to good people. Bravo! And yes Yod..it does happen in America too...apparently a whopping 116 times. I'd say thats pretty successful considering we have nearly 200 neo-nazi groups in the U.S. right now..and like 900 hate groups total. Yes, anti-semitism and racism in general is a bad thing, but only Jews would try to make headlines out of 1100 incidents out of 7 billion people. The title of that article should have been, "Study: Anti-semitic violence around the world still pretty non-existant."

Thanks RebekahDavid! Let the Lord do the judging. Let us pray as He leads us to. Yes...pray. But that doesn't mean that we as Christians don't have some advice (or opinions) for our sister Rifqa. I think she, and her most likely secular, handlers are going about this the wrong way. -

Did you run away from home with the intention of never speaking to your family again? Rifqa did. Did you start telling the world that your dad was a murderer? Rifqa did. Did you refuse any and all attempts to reconcile with your father. Rifqa did. I have NO DOUBT that your situation was (and is) difficult. My dad told me that the most hurt he ever felt in his life was when I left his church for another...and I didn't even change religions...lol. It is a difficult thing for many people to see their children go their own direction when it comes to religious matters...because so much effort goes into teaching our children what we believe is right. I would be devastated if one my own children turned to Islam or Mormonism...but if they did so and refused to ever speak to me again because of it...only God could rescue me from that grief. -

I can respect your point...however there is a big difference in being tired of trying after trying to reconcile for years, and never even making an attempt to sit in the same room. Even if you assume that the girl was treated badly when her parents found out she had converted to Christianity (which would not be an unusual response in many religious households)...it seems to me like the parents attempts at getting counseling and jumping through numerous court ordered hoops to even have the chance to sit in the same room with their daughter, speaks volumes. Its kinda like a divorce in which one spouse wants to make the marriage work and does everything they can to put in effort to make the positive changes needed...and the other spouse is dating already. Its sad. -

Ex-NY Mayor Koch: Obama Anti-Israel
Axxman replied to nebula's topic in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict
Obama is very anti-Israel and his continued support for a contiguous two-state solution proves it. In addition, this administration supports a move to restricting Israel to the pre-1967 borders. (1949 armistice lines). Both moves serve to bring unimaginable harm to Israel. It will make for a security nightmare for Israel and make it extremely difficult to defend its borders once the nation is sliced in half across its center. None of this is lost on our administration and they have no doubt been told why this is unworkable by the Israelis, but this adminstration supports it anyway. He is no more anti-Israel than any other president (none of them have really been all that supportive of Israel including Bush jr.), but this Administration is at least as bad as the rest. So Israel's own leaders are anti-Israeli? The two-state solution has been endorsed by every Israeli government since the Oslo agreement was signed. In fact, the majority of Israeli's must be anti-Israel. And of course, the Palenstinians are now pro-israel because they are starting to have doubts about the two-state solution according to recent polls. Whether its a bad idea or not...it doesn't make anyone anti-Israel and its crazy to think so. Obama's support for a two-state solution proves nothing more than he is in agreement with the majority of Israeli's...not against them. And they fact that you would claim that GW Bush was anti-Israel and had never "really been all that supportive of Israel" shows just how extremist you have become. He was repeatedly blasted in the media as being a puppet of Israel for his unwavering support of Israel. Unbelievable... -
I am always the first to stand up and say "I was wrong." I just needed someone brilliant like Ann Coulter to explain it to me. There is no doubt in my mind now that the lawsuit was reasonable and appropriate action. I just Ann! "God Hates Judges"

Ex-NY Mayor Koch: Obama Anti-Israel
Axxman replied to nebula's topic in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict
Since when would any of you listen to the ramblings of a left wing loon like Ed Koch? Ohhhhh...he said something awesome about Israel and bashed Obama. LOL!! First of all, if any of you had bothered to actually read Koch's op-ed..there is not one single quote from Obama, there isn't one shred of evidence that Obama is anti-Israel...and...props to biased Israeli media for writing headlines to capture the lemmings...Koch never said that "Obama is anti-Israel in order to please muslims" anywhere in his op-ed or his interview with Fox news. Obama is not anti-Israel and the repeated claims of such nonsense undermine the common-sense of the entire right-wing cause. Its simply a ludicrous postition. He has bad idea's about Israel, he is horrible at foreign policy, and he is too arrogant to see the error of his ways...all of those things are issues that could undermine his bid for re-election. Trying to twist every public statement made by wishy-washy libs into a claim that Obama is an anti-semite makes all of us look like were are extremist nut-jobs. -

OR....it could be that since she became a Christian she totally rejects their way of life, Axx. So kids who become Christians should completely disown their parents and forego any avenue of restoration? Nobody is asking her to approve of their way of life..even her parents aren't asking for that. The parents would like to sit down and talk to their daughter in a secure setting provided by the court under the monitoring of child services. Is her faith so weak that she's afraid they'll reconvert her to Islam? Is she afraid they'll behead her right there in the meeting room? Or is she afraid that once she looks at her parents faces and see's the grief that she has brought into their lives that her little game will end? -

She'll be an adult in a few months...treat her like an adult and give her the same "special" privledges any other illegal immigrant gets. As far as I'm concerned this girl is a brat. She won't even meet her own parents in a secured setting. What could possibly go wrong with talking to her parents like an adult? Her parents have agreed to all counseling plans set up by child welfare agencies and have complied with every order of the court just to have a chance to sit in the same room with their daughter. Rifqa refuses to reconcile or even be remotely interested in any sort of reconciliation. The longer this drags out the more she acts like a kid who ran away from home to have fun with her friends. The reason she won't meet her parents is because SHE KNOWS that the truth will come out if she does. -
LOL! Buy two cases, buy a million...it still won't make him right. Its not the quantity that counts...
-
I'll buy two copies! People will buy anything that supports their views...thats fair. People bought Main Kampf too...that doesn't make Hitler right. Buying one (or two) copies of this book won't make this guys outrageous claims right either.
-
Sounds to me like a guy who is saying a bunch of outrageous stuff for one reason...sell a book and make some money.... ...and it'll work.

Oh, I totally agree. I'm just not sure a lawsuit was the best decision.

Teen suicide a fact of life on Native American reservations
Axxman replied to nebula's topic in General Discussion
I myself am a member of the Miami Nation of Indians. We are a split tribe. Half of our tribe moved to reservations in the 1800's...the other half chose to live peacefully among settlers. I belong to the Miami of Indiana, the other half is the Miami of Oklahoma, where the reservation is. The Miami's of Indiana bought and held private land, got jobs and became a part of society. It does not take a genius to figure out which half of the Miami's are in better shape. The Miami's of Okla. are still bitter and are still critical of the gov't (often referred to as oppressors, destructive force, intimidating, etc) even though they are a federally recognized tribe. The Miami's of Indiana have a great relationship with local and state gov'ts and are actively involved in the community...the federal gov't stripped them of their officially recognized status because they refused to move to the reservation. Oh the irony. While we wish the federal gov't would recognize our people and appreciate our success as a tribe...none of us would switch places with the Okalhoma tribe.
