  1. I don't understand something. If Abbas sees the land issue as "direct negotiations rather than third-party forums like the U.N" Why do they demand we stop building before any negotiations. After all this is part of the conflict to be discussed, no?
  2. I bet Goldstone won't have a report for this
  3. I am convinced they feel they have a good backing from the Iranian fleet that has started it's base in Syria after moving the first two battle ships through the Suez canal
  4. It amazes me how blind people can get!
  5. The natural gas discovered recently is a good backup but will take a while till it's operational. As for the gas line. True it supplies 40% of our gas but I'm sure we can bypass the need Yet if we remember who is in control and how "everything works for the good....etc....." we shouldn't need to "lay an egg" yet, huh?
  6. Some reflections on the situation... As an Israeli living in this country for over 60 years, raising children and grandchildren in an ever bubbling political soup called the Middle East, I have seen many situations come and go. It is true that before 1977 Egypt was considered our biggest enemy. No one at the time thought we would have anything more than a temporary cease fire with them until the next round broke out. It was a couragious act on the part of Saadat at the time to create peace with Israel in the face of all the whole Arab world. True, the peace is a cold one, pretty much one-sided on the personal level but for 30 years there have been no military conflicts between us. Every Israeli I know was for this deal. It brought a whole wave of new hope to the region. Unfortunately there are forces at work who want to rid the middle east of our existence. Iran and the various Islamic fundamental groups are saying it openly in word and deed. Others are not so obvious for whatever reasons. This is our big concern now. If Egypt is taken over by those who even now are demanding war with Israel, it will surely bring much more suffering to the region than there has been in the past 30 years. Yes, the are conflicts going on, Israel-Palestinian being the obvious. Do we have to resolve it? Yes, we do. Can we resolve it? I wish I could say "yes" here too but both sides are stuck in a rut and that leaves the situation in the hands of the only entity who is REALLY in control. That is where my hope lies. I believe people can be and should be tools in HIS hands but that takes a turn of heart that all too many don't seem to be ripe for. So even though HIS will, will be done, I also believe that God allows us to have a say in it and can make it come sooner or later according to the free choice HE Himself has given us. This, for me, is what the prophet Isaiah meant (as quoted in my signature)
  7. Yes it is worrying but.... 1. we've been "worrying" now for over 60 years as a state and have been in worse situations 2. The Egyptians are not running the show 3. The US and Europe are not running the show 3. Our own government is not running the show either Need I spell out who really is? Thought so
  8. The way the Palistinians are acting they will never have a country. But that aside, I suggest you start thinking about the day the millions of Muslims in the UK will demand an independant state. As for Israel, no one who lives "out there" knows the truth. If you ever hear the Palestinians saying what they really believe in, you would be quite amazed. If they are afraid of one thing, it is the future Palestinian state. They cannot talk for fear of death but I live close enough to speak with them. A Palestinian state is the LAST thing they want!! You should have heard them cursing Arafat at the time The world's nose is long but they seem to be blind as to what is underneath it (hint: starts with I-S-L-A-M)
  9. I'm wondering as to their response if we started telling France what to do in their own country Would you have time to do that seeing as your government puts so much effort into telling the Palestinians what to do in theirs? Israel has de facto control over the West Bank , but even their closest ally (clearly not France) doesn't recognise that occupation as being legal. What "theirs" are you referring to? They don't have a country. This is precisly what the Israeli-Palestinian discussions are about. It is NO ONE else's business!!
  10. I'm wondering as to their response if we started telling France what to do in their own country
  11. Yes of course. I'm sorry if I didn't make that clear
  12. That is not totally fair on today's generations. Yeshua didn't have all that modern technology at his disposal. I wonder if he would have used it if he had But, yes, I would go for the quiet, out in the open teachings too It would make sense to study the ancient Jewish culture as a background to better understanding Yeshua. After all, he was a Jewish Rabbi, wasn't he? Same goes for anyone studying the NT where studying Greek would be a great help in understanding it.
  13. Ok, but remember they are my thoughts and not necesarily a concensus Here in Israel, the word "church" is associated with "christianity" which to many here means "not jewish" - It shouldn't have anything to do with what you asked but I thought it should be mentioned. I guess you are talking about fellowships that follow God, Yeshua and the holy spirit I personally don't go for big meetings. "more than 5" is a crowd, if you know what I mean. I have been to a few "big productions" which leave me pretty uncomfortable. But I have to admit that this discomfort could be rooted in personal hangups...I really don't know. I definately don't go for the stuff I sometimes see on TV. Rock concerts as you call them, yet to be fair about it, there is a lot of taste that goes into it. All in all I would say it is not so much the "noise" that counts but the essence behind it. The meaning that people bring to whatever concert they happen to go to If the rotating multi-coloured light ball in the centre of the room, the smoke machine on the stage and the dimmed lights bring us closer to HIS Spirit (which I doubt very much), that is just fine. But if it all acts as a distraction, well, that defeats the purpose of the fellowship, doesn't it? I'm not quite sure what you mean by different interpretations. Could you expand on that?
  14. Just fixed the link. To clear things up, I don't have a problem with anyone who calls me "Christian". I don't buy it and say so but that's where it ends. Not a life-&-death issue Thank you for your response on it
  15. Ah..... well, this is another thing. I don't call myself "christian". Here in Israel that means "not Jewish" I am Jewish and never been so aware of it since Knowing Yeshua. I don't call Yeshua "Jesus" either. I hope no one holds it against me . All these labels are just that....labels. The essence behind it is what counts. My reasons for this issue with the label "christian", are just personal of course. If you're interested you can read about it in this article
  16. Sun rose and with it the spray planes turned into fire fighting planes. Seems to be working in some places but it's a drop in the ocean. Amazing how, with such a great modern army, we don't have much to fight fires with Real fire fighting planes are coming in from as far as the US but haven't yet started working It all feels like war time
  17. Hi there, Seeing as I comment here every so often, I thought it appropriate to mention I'm not near this fire. My son and my sister are there but both ok. Praying too
  18. I notice your "location" says Sunny Sussex, Sun-trap of the South. UK. and I'll bet it's nothing of the sort these days, what with the weather reports coming in As to our topic: I believe as you do, that there is a satanic spirit at work. I've also learned, over the years that what a person DOES and what a person IS are two different things. There is ISLAM and there are MUSLIMS..... God's battle (and it is HIS, not ours) is with the spirit of Islam, not with Muslims as persons. This is the way I try and look at Palestinians. There are people and there is a spirit. That is where the split needs to be made. Satan has tied up many with his spirit. God will untie this mess, in His time and His way. All I need is a tiny seed of faith.... not much to ask for, is it?
  19. Well you know, it could be wishful thinking on my behalf but listening to just a few down-to-earth Palestinians has given me a bit of hope. True , there are plenty of those who hate us. If you take the Hamas, just looking at their agenda is enough to realize we'll never have peace with them. But you know.... never say never, especially when it isn't human beings who are in control, even if we believe we are. Miracles have happened in the past, are happening in the present and will, I believe, happen in the future. My feeling is that it can't do any harm turning good feelings towards the Palestinians, at worst it won't be true and we'll be in another war. My feelings are not going to change anything except what I have inside, so why harbor negative feelings? I am not "vegetarian" and if someone is out to kill me, I will do the same to him, first, if possible. I hope to God that if that ever happens I wouldn't kill my enemy out of hatred, but rather out of love for my family, friends and community - self defence
  20. There are Palestinian terrorists, to be sure. I believe that left to themselves they would be living just like you and me, making a living, bringing up families working the garden and generally enjoying life. There is a power that is corrupting human souls. That power is not human. It is demonic. For some strange reason people follow that power rather than the true one. This is where mankind falls. What I meant was that Palestinians are people like you and me who have somehow got roped in by evil powers. I would much prefer to live with them than be rid of them. I also believe it can happen
  21. The Palestinians are not the issue in the ME! I know it sounds strange with all that is going on today. The Palestinian issue was invented by Islamists who believe that the very existence of a Jewish state defies Islam itself. A sore thumb in their face! The Palestinians are just pawns in this game and that is why I keep paraphrasing to them that some day they will know the truth and it shall set them free. Free of their belief that their so called "brothers" give a damn about them! They don't! Why do you think the refugee camps were kept as such for so many years under Jordanian rule, or Syrian or Lebanese. If you talk to Palestinians, the every day "joe in the street" you will hear things you never thought you would hear. One of the biggest fears Palestinians have today is that there might actually be a Palestinian state. They know what that means, and it doesn't spell "good times"! But God help them if they say so out loud. Their days are numbered!! Fear is the motor behind the whole ME mess But the world is bent on giving the Palestinians their "freedom" . Why? Oil. Money. Power. Greed......you name in it
  22. Neat move! That should give an excuse for unfreezing the new freeze on building........ Maybe we should thank Obama after all (What a game!!)
  23. It makes no difference either way. Statements are statements. If it doesn't work they will still say there is hope for a middle east peace. They cannot say anything else. If the freeze does work. Pals will have to find another excuse for delaying the talks Bottom line: Islam will not agree to anything that gives Israel legitimacy as a Jewish state! Real bottom line: God is in control. no one else!
  24. If it was just achmedinejad, there would be no problem. It's the whole Humaini clan behind him. They are running the hate-show, not to mention radical Islam of course
  25. I'd present them a 1968 map and say, "OK, here's a map." You know all they are doing is postponing the talks They don't want it and we don't either, not the way it's going at any rate They want everything without giving anything in return Why, they refuse to acknowledge our right to a Jewish state What can we possibly talk about?
