  1. THanks for your response I have no doubt Yeshua is the son of God. I just don't see this as an indication of the Trinity. John 1:1-2 for instance has quite a solid verification of the ..... well not the Trinity, but a solid verification of Yeshua being one with God. 1: In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2: He was in the beginning with God.
  2. Peace CJ Thanks Looks like I'm going to have my hands full You guys are being real helpfull and I thank you for it Blessings
  3. Yes I'm sure it will help. THanks. I really need to see all sides and scripture is seeing the truth and not some gossip or hearsay Thanks Kabowd
  4. The word "grandfather" is not in the Bible either. Yet we know that Abraham was the grandfather of Jacob. Jesse was the grandfather of Solomon, etc. There are grandfathers in the Bible, even if the word itself does not appear. Trinity is not a Hebrew or Greek word. It is a purely English word. That does not mean that the Bible does not teach that The Father Son and Holy Spirit are God. It may not use the word, but the concept is there. Very true What I need is scripture for describing the concept of the Trinity Blessings
  5. The word "Bible" doesn't appear in the Bible either. I have trouble accepting the absence of something as proof that it doesn't exist. As for the concept of the Trinity. I too would like to know how we can tell if the Trinity actually exists. Is it for real or was it just forced by Constantine? A contradiction concerning the topic, that I "googled up": Luk 1:35 And the angel answered her, "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be called holy--the Son of God. The child born was the son of God and was begotten by the holy spirit. This brings to mind that the Holy Spirit and God are one and the same Act 5:32 And we are witnesses to these things, and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey him." Here the Holy Spirit is given by God and they seem to be two diferent enteties The Holy Spirit is God the father of Jesus. The Holy Spirit is God who is in all and through all. Can't have two spiritual entities in all and through all.

Here the Holy Spirit is given by God and they seem to be two diferent enteties Google is not going to be a good source for truth. The Trinity was not a concept that Constantine invented. Not only is the concept in Scripture (therefore advocated by the apostles), but it existed among the early church fathers as well (like Irenaeus, Athenagoras, Theophilus, Tertullian and Cyprian for example) who's works and writings all assert a belief in the Trinity (God, who is three persons in One) and most, if not all, of these men lived before Constantine. Thanks Kabowd. Your first post was exactly what I am looking for. I know I won't find the truth in google but it does send me to various views on the subject. We do hear all kinds of theories and views and I find that hearing other views balances things out untill I can get to the Truth itself. As "Trinity" doesn't appear in scripture, I need to find scripture that shows the essence of the Trinity. Thanks again

  8. In searching the Bible, on the said topic, I came across the following: Gen 27:41 Now Esau hated Jacob because of the blessing with which his father had blessed him, and Esau said to himself, "The days of mourning for my father are approaching; then I will kill my brother Jacob" Seems that mourning was an acceptable and well respected idea at the time. So much so that even hatred was set aside for the duration of the mourning period. 2Sa 11:27 And when the mourning was over, David sent and brought her to his house, and she became his wife and bore him a son. But the thing that David had done displeased the LORD. This was the other side of the coin. David had all but killed Uriah himself, to get Bat-Sheva, yet he waited till the mourning was over. The fact that it displeased God is probably an understatement. Est 4:3 And in every province, wherever the king's command and his decree reached, there was great mourning among the Jews, with fasting and weeping and lamenting, and many of them lay in sackcloth and ashes. Looks like mourning was used not just fater death but even before it. Trying to avoid it with prayer? Psa 30:11 You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; you have loosed my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness, It is God who can take away the heaviness in our hearts and fill it with Joy. He is the one to turn to in times of anguish and pain. Ecc 7:2 It is better to go to the house of mourning than to go to the house of feasting, for this is the end of all mankind, and the living will lay it to heart. Now this alludes me I know I should get the context, but after readin around this verse, I am non the wiser for it. Anyone know how this fits in with all the other verses of comfort? Jer 9:17 Thus says the LORD of hosts: "Consider, and call for the mourning women to come; send for the skillful women to come; Wow! It sounds like they had professional mourers Mostly women, who learned the art of mourning..... Actually I do have an idea, we can see this kind of lamentation on tv at certain funerals Skilled lamenters(?) are referenced here too..... Amo 5:16 Therefore thus says the LORD, the God of hosts, the Lord: "In all the squares there shall be wailing, and in all the streets they shall say, 'Alas! Alas!' They shall call the farmers to mourning and to wailing those who are skilled in lamentation, I can see I've been bringing scripture from the OT so not to neglect the NT here are some from there.... Jas (James?) 4:9 Be wretched and mourn and weep. Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom. I would say that "mourning" is used here in a different way. It's actualy used for humility. Sounds like laghter (as in "having fun"?) is concedered not humble. The emphasis in this chapter is on humility and therefore when you mourn rather than laugh, you become humble. Again this seems to contradict something in the previous scriptures.... lets see...... oh, yes... Psa 30:11 You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; you have loosed my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness, What gives here? Rev 21:4 He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning nor crying nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away I am just begining to study Revelations. Until now I have to admit that Revelations seemed like John's acid trip ... .... which it obviously isn't. It's just my ignorence showing Yet the first 4 verses of chapter 21 give much hope to anyone who cares to read and identify with what the Lord has to tell us, through John in this case. Maybe I should stop before I quote the whole Bible God bless
  9. I know that claim is somewhere in scripture. I am not too fluent with the NT yet and can't find that verse. That's Romans 8:28. Another verse you might want to look at is: 1Th 4:13 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. That was the verse that I found comfort in after my husband died suddenly of a heart attack. I knew he loved the LORD with all his heart, so I knew that he had gone home to Heaven. Just read Rom 8:28, Thanks Sheya, that's what I was looking for I'm sorry about your husband. I can see how 1TH 4:13 can bring you some comfort. I needed to read verse 14 to 18 too, for the context. That makes it pretty clear. Thanks Sheya and may God bless and heal your heart
  10. Yes time and prayer with God's spirit, do heal. I'm looking for scripture that refers to that. I know that claim is somewhere in scripture. I am not too fluent with the NT yet and can't find that verse. I'm not denying what the word says, I just can't find the scriptures for it. In the past I have had feelings about things the Bible said, which turned out to be just that.....my feelings, so I am looking for backup from the Word itself. During the year we had to "prepare" I told myself I would look up what the Bible had to say on the matter. This is why I opened the topic. So thank you for your responses, They are encouraging., and if you could point me to the verses involved I would be most appreciative. David
  11. My mother passed away last month. She had been on an oxygen machine for over a year and we knew it was just a matter of time. We had a year to "prepare" for it. During the year we prayed for her. We talked with her about God and Yeshua, about salvation.... I am not sure if she actually met Yeshua or was just making it look good for our sake.......... I feel she is now resting in peace. What does the Bible have to say about this kind of situation? How does it tell us to "prepare"?
  12. I find lately that when I start doubting.... it's a sure sign I'm on the right track... How's that?! Doubting feels very much like satan's work. Why would satan bother with me unless I was on the right path?
  13. Naturally. I mean the Messiah Himself was Jewish, as were most of the first deciples followers I was brought up to believe the NT had nothing to do with the Jewish people. Takes a while to shed off old habits

    Is God Male?

Truce then it is between us! Awesome! "By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another". John 13: 35 What a beautiful demonstration of choosing to love in Jesus' name. Blessings, sisters. Fiosh Yes it is. I wish we could do that in the middle east too....

    Is God Male?

I believe we already discussed this in another topic, but again...this is not biblically accurate. While we cannot know God comprehensively we CAN know Him. He commands us to know Him, seek Him, to pursue understanding. The ONLY way we can understand truth from lies is via our God-given intellect/logic/reason. Remember...we are called to love God with our hearts, souls AND our minds. It's a matter of definitions such as "what is the mind"? But this is not the topic so I won't go into it here. I think we both agree that we shouldn't under estimate God... no?

    Is God Male?

What an amazing amount of energy we spend on trying to undrstand God Don't get me wrong. I have nothing against it. It just amazes and amuses me. Many times I find myself deep in some logical/reasonable analysis of an aspect of God and suddenly "wake up". take a look around and burst out laughing. Mental acrobatics is a very good excersize, I guess, So don't let me stop anyone, or myself for that matter. Let the intelectual olympics continue !! ( lets just remember not to under estimate God. No way can we understand Him with our intelect )

    Is God Male?

You know Firehill, I think you are really on to something here I never saw this , and my basic language is Hebrew
  18. Jewish believers use the NT same as the OT..... on principle..... In practice, having been brought up on the OT, I find I tend to drift towards it much more than the NT. In the OT I feel more at home. It's "our side of the Bible" We may not have been brianwashed by Constantine but we sure were brianwashed by those who say that Yeshua is THE Arch-enemy of the Jewish people I know I should pay more attention to NT but I don't yet...... Old habits and all that........
  19. Right with you on this one, Vickilynn In fact I believe that religion today is for the most part trying to label God That won't work, of course !
  20. I find it very touching when people are so open about things in their lives, especialy painful experiences. I appreciate your openess, Vickilynn, and respect it. It also says something about this forum, it shows a warm secure place to be open in God bless you, Vickilynn, and all posters in this forum May the Spirit be with you :whistling:
  21. That's a good one, Biblicist
  22. Right on !!
  23. Gen 3:19 By the sweat of your face you shall eat bread, till you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken; for you are dust, and to dust you shall return." Sounds like We won't need our bodies, or have them. Does God want us buried in the ground or cremated? That's a question I never asked myself. It was always obvious to me I will eventually be cremated, not to take up too much space. Good question, I'll ask my advisor
  24. Can someone translate this into English ?
