Texas Insists on Executing a Man the State Admits is Innocent
hepatocyte replied to The Lorax's topic in U.S. News
In America, we used to do lots of things. That harlot was guilty of prostitution. Making sure that woman never has the opportunity to live and spread her vile, salacious ways is a good thing, so I am all for stoning her to death. -

Then I'm glad you're not a lawmaker. "I would support life in prison for anyone with a gang tattoo" - Punishment should fit the crime. Getting a gang tattoo warrants life in prison? Get real. "and the death penalty for crimes committed in gang activity." - Would that include graffiti? Loitering? Mugging? What about innocent people who are dealt the death penalty? We are not living under Old Testament laws, in case you forgot. It's one thing to be tough on crime; another to be trigger happy and lacking mercy. -
Racism DOES exist. Hate crimes DO occur. But probably NOT to the extent that we are led to believe.

Illegal Immigrant Accused of Execution Style Murder
hepatocyte replied to JustinM's topic in U.S. News
NO ONE is defending him. Just mindful of the fact that the horrific act of a single individual can spur hate on an entire group of people, illegal or not. -
"even though you would seem to want to make it so difficult as to discourage others from grabbing the "golden ring!"" - Excuse me? It was a legitimate question I brought up. I don't care if you care for fifteen orphans. You have no right to call me out like that. You don't know my intentions. I have heard nonbelievers ask why Christians disagree on so many issues. That's why I asked here. The disagreements seem to be stumbling blocks to others from receiving the Gospel. If we are to lead by example, then what do quarrels look like to the outside world?
-
Is that you saying it's a good thing or a bad thing? Oh wait, the republicans were in on it too so it MUST be a good thing, so why the attack on democrats? Actually...I don't care either way. I don't support the idolatry of the Bill of Rights and the various Amendments. The reason I pointed out the democrats on this issue is because the VERY liberal article, written by the VERY liberal journalist didn't seem to quite pin the tail on the 'donkey'...so to speak. Fact is, the democrats in congress don't have half the backbone that George Bush has to do what they think is right...and I think its funny. Is anyone really surprised that progressive liberalism wants to restrict the Bill of Rights? I'm not. God is in control. The idolatry of the Bill of Rights and the various amendments? Do expound upon your assertion.

AND they have the nerve to compare an unborn child to a cancerous tumor, logic being both the child and the tumor use up the mother's bodily resources for growth. Sick, sick. -

If the state has a law stating an accompliss to murder can be convicted of murder, they don't need a new law. That law covers such an instance, and there is nothing wrong with Texas carrying out this execution. In addition, I support the death penalty because God states in his Word that the only way to cleanse the land of innocent blood that is shed is by shedding the blood of the murderer. In addition, God set up a death penalty in the Old Testament that covered numerous crimes in addition to murder. I see...Do you want to bring the Old Testament laws back? Do you support bombing of abortion clinics? Those that do use the same logic. Wasn't God merciful to Cain? I believe Jesus, who was without sin, stopped the stoning of a prostitute. Forgiveness and mercy, not death. Hmmm. -
"When I speak to a lost person about salvation I don't really concern myself with what other Christians may or may not have said or done. " - They also ask why not all Christians agree. What do I tell them? It's truth for some but not others? We preach absolute truth in Christ Jesus, so how do we reconcile the fact that we don't seem to agree on many topics?
-
Wow...I loved this response. Amen! So are we not one body of Christ? No one said anything about preaching anything other than God's Word. Shalom, What are you talking about? Seriously. Who said anything about not being one Body? We are one Body in Jesus, but that doesn't mean we have to all agree. Again, Eric posted that the Apostles did not always agree. You talked about witnessing things OTHER than salvation. These are non-essentials as I have posted. Stick with the essentials when witnessing and let the Holy Spirit speak through you. I don't get into non-essentials when witnessing. They don't understand because they don't have Jesus. Focus on Jesus, give them the Word and let the Holy Spirit open their heart and you'll be pleasing G-d. Don't worry so much about everyone not agreeing. "What are you talking about? Seriously. Who said anything about not being one Body? We are one Body in Jesus, but that doesn't mean we have to all agree. Again, Eric posted that the Apostles did not always agree." - If we don't agree amongst ourselves, how do we look to nonbelievers? That's my point. Seriously. "You talked about witnessing things OTHER than salvation. " - No. I brought up those points because they are a source of contention among belivers." "Don't worry so much about everyone not agreeing." - I initially brought this up because (I don't know if you've been reading the evolution threads) a certain poster is calling people atheists because they don't believe in the literal 6-day creation, even calling other Christians satan-like. I just wondered what it would look like to nonbelievers if this was like a public speaking forum.

Christians who already believe understand that in the end, Jesus is all that matters. I'm just talking about nonbelievers who say, "If Christians can't even agree amongst themselves, then why should we even see what this Jesus person is all about?"
-
But there's one Gospel, one Truth, one Church, one Holy Spirit. We are not to be unified in them? "we are called to preach the Word, G-d's Word. Not our own." - That's my point. If we can't agree what God's Word is, then how do we preach the Word to the unbelievers who see disagreement among the Church and say, "Look, they can't even agree. If they claim to have the guidance of the Holy Spirit who speaks the truth, then why all the quarrels?" We tell the unbelievers the Bible is inerrant and that there is absolute truth contained in the Bible. How can we separate what is essential and non-essential?

With the same ol' "it's a woman's body" routine. That won't work when the baby is already mostly out of the mother's body. In their mind, the baby isn't COMPLETELY out of the body...so they justify the murder. -

With so many denominations arguing over doctrinal issues, how do we preach the Gospel to others? If we tell others the Holy Spirit of God leads us to truth, then how do we explain to them why we don't agree on so many issues? Everything from infant baptism to the gifts of the Holy Spirit to "love the sinner, hate the sin" is up for quarrel. How do we present a unified voice for the Gospel of salvation through Christ Jesus?

Again America Flaunts Her Disdain For the True God
hepatocyte replied to a topic in Defense of the Gospel
You're on a Christian forum. If you're worshiping anyone that is not God, then you're worshiping Satan. -
In light of certain threads (esp. the ones where fellow Christians are called atheists in the likeness of satan), I would like to share these verses. "Do not speak evil of one another brethren. He who speaks evil of a brother and judges his brother speaks evil of the law and judges the law. But if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge. There is one Lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy. Who are you to judge another"? That is all.

"many Egyptians believe is a duty under Islam and Christianity." I wonder how Egyptian Christians came to the conclusion that it's condoned by Christianity.

Where do you think the quote "Hate the sin, Love the sinner"
hepatocyte replied to forrestkc's topic in General Discussion
Maybe it doesn't make a difference. However, when Jesus was fasting in the desert for 40 days Satan came along a tried to tempt him with several "truths" from God's word. Jesus was smart enought to consider the source and realize that the "truth" was twisted. Fact is, "hate the sin, not the sinner" is not biblical. Its not spoken or taught in the bible. It was a twisted truth from a false teacher that sounded good to some christians who repeated it until many Christians just assumed it was biblical. We must consider the source. Somebody in this thread actually chose to ignore the powerful testimony of King David, and his scriptural writings...in order to cling to a Hindu quote. I don't get that. So are we then to hate the sin and hate the sinner? Gee, I guess there's nobody in this world to love. -

No one was doing this. "So at this point we are safe to say that illegal aliens are 300% more like to be involved in SERIOUS CRIME, than are citizens or legally present aliens." I don't like illegal immigration. I'm from Los Angeles. I see gangs. I see the lack of assimilation. I see far-left liberals defending them coming here illegally. I don't like it that many of them respect the Mexican flag more than the American flag. But a heinous act can be committed by anyone. I agree that it's stupid/tragic/absurd/ridiculous that he was still in this country after his violent rap sheet...but we're getting close to vilifying a whole group of people (here illegally) for actions of a few. But on a different note, what exactly does INS get funding for from the government if they can't weed out people like him? -
"A majority of the Church holds to the heresy of Replacement Theology, a doctrine which precludes the possiblity that Israel is being restored by God in her biblical homeland." - I've heard about this vaguely somewhere. I don't think God would ever replace Israel...I mean, He chose it to be home for His people...God generally doesn't give up because people turn their backs...hence, Jesus!

To me, the inference of the thread is this was a killing that shouldn't have, and wouldn't have happened had our borders been secure like they should be. It's an outrage, and if I were the parent of one of these people, I would be suing the government. This is one instance where he should have an extra felony charge for doing it while here illegally. He'd been in jail and got out before. That should never have happened. There was something about him having sex with young girls, too. I agree, kat. And, if anyone believes that the illegal invasion isn't changing life in America, see the following link. If any of you don't see the need for strict border control, and buy the 'just come here to work idea', maybe your wallet will convince you otherwise............... http://www.texasbordervolunteers.org/Illeg...act%20Sheet.pdf "The inference of the thread is that all illegal immigrants are capable of evil...more so than anyone else. That is junk! Evil knows no boundries. The source is the Enemy...not illegals, legals or whatever." and "I agree, kat. And, if anyone believes that the illegal invasion isn't changing life in America, see the following link. If any of you don't see the need for strict border control, and buy the 'just come here to work idea', maybe your wallet will convince you otherwise............... " are two different issues. No one is saying "yay illegal immigration". Just don't vilify illegal immigrants as being innately more evil than others. Now the "cultural invasion" is a different topic. -

Get flamed Stephen because that is absolutely correct. It goes against natural laws of Creation. As Christians, we love the homosexual but we abhor and hate the act because it is wrong. (((ok, completely off tangent... sweet cakes = stephen ?))) "As Christians, we love the homosexual but we abhor and hate the act because it is wrong." Easier said than done.
