  1. I disagree... We Pastafarians have the honor of being able to claim that we have never started a holy war. If you look at the ranks of any hate group, you'll see that the christians far outnumber any Pastafarians. Pastafarians appear to win hands-down.
  2. Wow... I had not thought of those aspects... I was going from my personal experiences in rural Pennsylvania... I'd say about a quarter of my school doesn't believe and over half don't participate. I have to stop kids from bullying others because they believe... HealingOil... It's good that you're kids will still have outside lives... I was drawing from my community where most people live 20 to 30 minutes from town... Unless you want to spend 50 dollars on gas every two days, school is your only social life... I guess homeschooling all depends on where you live.
  3. You're welcome, mizzdy. I just happened to stumble across it myself yesterday and decided to save it in my favorites. I am dealing with this situation personally, unfortunately. My teenage daughter turned 13 not too long ago and then BAM! I understand some of it is hormones, etc., but it's not just that. Her grades have gone downhill fast; we found out she was missing a ton of assignments among other things. Then I found a few notes in her room one day while cleaning it and found out there was a boy she liked who had all sorts of problems and she wanted to "save him." I was also surprised at some of the language she was using... of course it doesn't help that "everyone" talks that way at school and her school play had swearing in it, as well. Anyway, it was then that I realized there was a lot more going on with her and we sat down and had a very long talk. School has become a social playground and her interest in learning has been put on the back burner. I admit, she is her mother's daughter because I was a social butterfly in school, too, but she's taken it to the extreme and it saddens me because I know what she is capable of. She was reading Harry Potter, Series of Unfortunate Events, etc. long before her peers and loved working out math problems verbally with me, etc... And in fact, not too long ago was making honor roll no problem. Needless to say, she is at the table everyday after she gets home working on those missed assignments so she can turn them in before the school year is out. Riding her bike around the neighborhood and swimming are the only things she is allowed to do anymore (she is grounded until school is out). I really hate that things have come to this and realized it was time to change things. With a lot of thought and prayer, I have decided to homeschool my two older kids who've been in PS thus far. My daughter is upset, but I have been spending a lot of time encouraging her and have had successful breakthroughs... sometimes. My son is gung ho but I knew he would be. He's a 30 year-old in a 10-year olds body and has been bored with school for some time now. Plus, he would've been entering middle school this next year and after experiencing what I have with my daughter, I want to avoid that all together with him. I'm 17 years old and would absolutely despise being homeschooled. Without interaction with their peers children grow socially inept. When they get into the real world they're going not going to be sheltered from the ugly truthes of life. They won't be able succeed if they don't know how to act among different people. Your daughter is doing poorly in school... Instead of removing them entirely from the system you should let them realize that schooling is important. Give them talks and ground them but if you shelter them then when they get to college they're just going to experiment with their new found freedom there.
  4. I agree with JudgeofGod in that he is not an atheist. He says he isn't and who are you to tell im what he believes? I think he is just makeing good points decrying the faults of Christian arguements. He may be what some call a rational christian, but it all depends on what he thinks he is. I find it very unchristian of everyone else here who is acting skeptical and all-high-and-mighty simply because he doesn't follow with his eyes closed. Thinking is not a sin.
  5. That's good, sorgo. If Christians are disrupting your life then maybe, just maybe, someday you will look to the Lord for life's meaning. And,I hate to break it to you, the Moral Majority has splintered and is not what it used to be. Government can't legislate morality; it comes from within the individual. If the government can't legislate morality than why are they trying? Why is gay marriage not legal in every state?
  6. I argue here because christians are the ones who do the most to disrupt my way of life. I live in a small town. Mostly everyone here is Christian. Those who aren't abstain from religion. There are no hinduists, or muslem, or shintoist, ect. Another fact: my uncle is gay. He only comes in once or twice a year because of the views of the community. It's understandable in our community; there is very little diversity. But when i see the Moral Majority trying to push anti-gay rights legislature through our countrie's government it's hurtful. That is why I come here.
  7. I am sorry for your loss, but what makes you think those came from God. Why can't Allah provide the food? What makes you sure it's not Shiva that makes us breath? Couldn't Ra control the sun? That's my problem with any religion. There's so many and all of there reasonings are if you don't believe then you will not get into your paradise of choice, whether it be Nirvana, Heaven, Valhalla, whatever. Therefore I abstain from believing until one comes up with better evidence.
  8. I totally agree. I believe most Americans do, indeed, fear God. Many that I know believe we are being judged right now and slammed by God to get us to change our ways. I agree with that school of thought too. I do not fear god. He has shown me nothing for which to fear him . I do not love god. He has shown me nothing for which to love him. I do not hate god. He has shown me nothing for which to hate him. I do not know god. He has shown me nothing.
  9. I say think for yourself. Use your own interpretation of it. Dont let anyone tell you that its entirely true if thats not what you really believe but on the otherhand dont let anyone tell you its complete lies either.
  10. Their hair. Okay, I'll bite. What does an athiest's hair look like? A rat's nest. Kari20, Think about this. If a person is an athiest he does not believe in God. A person who does not believe in God does not believe that he is responsible to a higher authority, so he can do anything he wants to and is free from punishment, therefore no compunction. This type of person is extremely dangerous because he believes that he is just a higher animal, so his thinking is dog eat dog, and cares nothing for other people. The main reason why people become athiests is because they want to do what they want to do, when they want to do it with no responsibility to anyone. The Holy Scriptures paint a very interesting picture of athiests, Ps 10:4, only a fool does not believe in God, Ps 14:1, There i no excuse for not believing in God because his creations are clearly seen, Rom 1:18-23. Also God will judge athiests adversely because of not loving the TRUTH, 2Thes 2:9-12. Thank you for telling me why I became an atheist! I am indebted to your expert judgement on atheists. How long have you been an atheist by the way? You must have been one for quite a long time to be able to characterize us like that. Yet again I thank you for clearing up this issue for the people who thought atheists were loving and kind. Those people might be friends with or even married to atheists who they thought were good people. Yet you can see right through that and without ever having experienced being an atheist you set them all aside as sub-human. Good Job!
  11. Now you bring up another question that i have often wondered about. I think of the holy ghost as what talked to the disciples for the three days after Jesus died. But if the Holy Ghost didn't appear until after Jesus died. How is there a triad back in Genesis. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
  12. I was perusing the Bible for a paper I have to write and stumbled upon this verse. "And the LORD God said, "The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil." I underlined the us because, to my understanding, you guys believe that there is only one god. I thought it was a commandment and all. It's Genesis 3 verse 22 if any of you want to look it up.
  13. That article is just as true as this one http://uncyclopedia.org/wiki/Christianity, and alot less funny. Conservapedia is one of the most disgusting sites I've ever been to. Bothered by the other sides propaganda, eh? That's too bad. Looks like you all really are the same - despite all of the demagoguery about a devotion to freedom. You all become the epitomy of indignant as soon as you think you are at the recieving end of criticism. I'm sorry, I shouldn't have been so caustic. Hopefully thesorgo will forgive me, but his post was just so misleading and immature. That website given by glory2000 gave lots of statistics and evidence, and thesorgo did not even try to argue any of it. Instead, in a rash outburst, he post a website that had very little evidence sited, was completely rude and inflammatory (in contrast to the rather polite and reasonable overtone of the pro- article, which really surprised me) and made atheists look very infantile, overreactive and brazen. Why do atheists hate everyone who disagrees with such tenacity? I didn't post that site as a rebuttal but merely to show that it was exactly the same as the glory posted. I actually think conservapedia's article was worse because people actually get their opinions on atheism from there
  14. What are you talking about? Who are you exactly lumping me in with and I said nothing about any sort of denying freedom to anything. All I'm pointing out is that the the conservapedia article is as insulting to atheists as the uncyclopedia one is to christians
  15. That article is just as true as this one http://uncyclopedia.org/wiki/Christianity, and alot less funny. Conservapedia is one of the most disgusting sites I've ever been to.
  16. If we didn't have free will we would be little more than machines. So both.
  17. No scientific theory has ever been set in stone. I assume that you're a IDist or a new world creationist. Tsk Tsk, brainwashed by the church.
  18. It is very possible that a god exists but the odds that your god exists is slim to none. I don't think your god or islam's, hindu's, or budist's are the correct one. So let me ask you, Are you really so proud that you would not consider the existance of other gods?
  19. Just who are YOU to hole ME accountable for anything? The only person I'm accountable to is God. Let me ask you a question. Do you think God NEEDS you? I'll go ahead and give you the answer, He doesn't. God also doesn't owe YOU a bloody thing. He did all He needed to do for you to be saved. He doesn't desire that you be lost, but that's YOUR choice. You think Christians are here to jump through your hoops? From your posts, it's easy to see that you really aren't here for real answers...you are here for a little sport. Your arrogance and pride won't allow for any serious dialog. Jesus said that if one is told the Gospel and refuse it, to "shake the dust from your feet" (Matthew 10:14), and to move on. We are not to waste valuable time that could be spent with a serious seeker on one who has no true interest in the Gospel. I think you need to calm down. I completely understand where he is coming from. You can't tell us that you take everything the bible says by it's word and than tell us that the whole kill the homosexual, kill the adultress, kill the unbeliever part doesn't apply to you.
  20. How could adam sin if he was created perfect? Nothing with free will is ever perfect. No mindless slave has ever lusted or stole; they don't have greed or hate. All these are things that only people with free will have and I think you'll agree, are not perfect.
  21. A. God is perfect. B. Anything made by a perfect being must be perfect. ...........A. Making something imperfect would be a flaw, thus making the creator imperfect. C. Man was made by God. D. Man is imperfect. Therefore either A. God did not make man, or B. God is imperfect.
  22. Like secondeve, I also don't debate on any other site unless you count the pastafarian one, but thats purely for fun. This is because only christians came onto the pastafarian site to curse us, insult us, damn us to hell, ect. So you see, I thought it would be rude to go onto other religious forums but since christians invited themselves in to my home forum, I thought it was socially exceptable for me to invite myself into one of their's.
  23. Are you serious it sounds like a good idea to me
  24. However, you may purchase male or female slaves from among the foreigners who live among you. You may also purchase the children of such resident foreigners, including those who have been born in your land. You may treat them as your property, passing them on to your children as a permanent inheritance. You may treat your slaves like this, but the people of Israel, your relatives, must never be treated this way. (Leviticus 25:44-46 NLT) If you buy a Hebrew slave, he is to serve for only six years. Set him free in the seventh year, and he will owe you nothing for his freedom. If he was single when he became your slave and then married afterward, only he will go free in the seventh year. But if he was married before he became a slave, then his wife will be freed with him. If his master gave him a wife while he was a slave, and they had sons or daughters, then the man will be free in the seventh year, but his wife and children will still belong to his master. But the slave may plainly declare, 'I love my master, my wife, and my children. I would rather not go free.' If he does this, his master must present him before God. Then his master must take him to the door and publicly pierce his ear with an awl. After that, the slave will belong to his master forever. (Exodus 21:2-6 NLT) When a man sells his daughter as a slave, she will not be freed at the end of six years as the men are. If she does not please the man who bought her, he may allow her to be bought back again. But he is not allowed to sell her to foreigners, since he is the one who broke the contract with her. And if the slave girl's owner arranges for her to marry his son, he may no longer treat her as a slave girl, but he must treat her as his daughter. If he himself marries her and then takes another wife, he may not reduce her food or clothing or fail to sleep with her as his wife. If he fails in any of these three ways, she may leave as a free woman without making any payment. (Exodus 21:7-11 NLT) When a man strikes his male or female slave with a rod so hard that the slave dies under his hand, he shall be punished. If, however, the slave survives for a day or two, he is not to be punished, since the slave is his own property. (Exodus 21:20-21 NAB) Slaves, obey your earthly masters with deep respect and fear. Serve them sincerely as you would serve Christ. (Ephesians 6:5 NLT) Christians who are slaves should give their masters full respect so that the name of God and his teaching will not be shamed. If your master is a Christian, that is no excuse for being disrespectful. You should work all the harder because you are helping another believer by your efforts. Teach these truths, Timothy, and encourage everyone to obey them. (1 Timothy 6:1-2 NLT) The servant will be severely punished, for though he knew his duty, he refused to do it. "But people who are not aware that they are doing wrong will be punished only lightly. Much is required from those to whom much is given, and much more is required from those to whom much more is given." (Luke 12:47-48 NLT) You see ...this is why people should use the KJ because it correctly ...or is the best translation available... Now read what you have quoted: Eph 6:5 Servants, be obedient to them that are [your] masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ; Eph 6:6 Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart; Eph 6:7 With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men: Servants were paid for their services... Where do you see the word SLAVE? yes several times.
  25. Then don't penalize christians when they object to Satan entering the halls of Congress. That is a definate and major vviolation of their religious freedoms! Well, it's a definate and major violation of religious freedom to deny other forms of worship also. According to the article the ONLY ones denied religious freedom are the christians since their the ones who were removed! If someone were to enter your church and start screaming that you are all satan worshipers would you let them remain there? You don't have freedom of speech if you are creating a public disturbance They were not creating a Public Disturbance...they...as was their right...objecting to the abomination taking place ...in THEIR Senate House... isn't that just lie satan...to twist things around and make it sound like...the protesters were out of line...when it ws the President of the Senate who allowed that godless prayer to take place Next time christians pray at the senate and I'm there I will protest. And apperntly you'll have to let me there yelling about the absudities of your god. You know, free speech and all.
