Personally I believe diversity is a good thing amongst believers, whether we agree or not diversity almost always stretches us out side the square we live in and hopefully takes us into the word to find answers .... If diversity is seen in a possitive light you can see how it brings to the forefront the fruits of the spirit in causing one to excersise them ..... Therefore, taking this one step further .... Perhaps I could suggest that diversity amongst us may be one of the tools God uses to allow us to apply the fruits of the spirit. Love - "And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him" (1 John 4:16). Through Jesus Christ, our greatest goal is to do all things in love. "Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails" (1 Corinthians 13:4-8). Joy - "The joy of the Lord is your strength" (Nehemiah 8:10). "Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God" (Hebrews 12:2). Peace - "Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ" (Romans 5:1). "May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit" (Romans 15:13). Longsuffering (patience) -- We are "strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness" (Colossians 1:11). "With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love" (Ephesians 4:2). Gentleness (kindness) -- We should live "in purity, understanding, patience and kindness; in the Holy Spirit and in sincere love; in truthful speech and in the power of God; with weapons of righteousness in the right hand and in the left" (2 Corinthians 6:6-7). Goodness - "Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfill all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power" (2 Thessalonians 1:11). "For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth" (Ephesians 5:9). Faith (faithfulness) - "O Lord, thou art my God; I will exalt thee, I will praise thy name; for thou hast done wonderful things; thy counsels of old are faithfulness and truth" (Isaiah 25:1). "I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith" (Ephesians 3:16-17). Meekness - "Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted" (Galatians 6:1). "With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love" (Ephesians 4:2). Temperance (self-control) - "But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love" (2 Peter 1:5-7). It's not always about "them" and their walk but, more often about "us" and ours!!

I am not the least concerned with the fact that you are deciding what is right and what is wrong with me .... and even passing sentence on me ... Neither you nor anyone else can put me down unless I first put myself down (and I am not doing that). But, though I don't know of anything against me, my ignorance doesn't mean I am correct in my appraisal because the final evaluation is in Gods hands.... We are called to love one another not change one another .... condemnation comes from Satan .... conviction comes from God .... A mind troubled by doubt can not focus on the victory .... Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus only He knows your heart ..... Praying for you
  4. Interesting topic.... My take on this subject is that the root of bitterness, as some have said, does start with a feeling or/and an un-resolved issue toward a particular person or matter therefore, causing bitterness to take root in that person in turn, hardening the persons heart toward a or many particular subject/s which left un-checked eventually blocks Gods wisdom from shining on the particular subject/s..... The seed of bitterness can manifest in many ways be it anger, addiction, lust whatever and causes the person to become a bad influence on others in the area/s they lack Gods knowledge and wisdom .... These people walk amongst us in fellowship with a huge chip on their shoulders, burdened by their "bitterness" and tend to be the ones who use justifications like" God just hasn't dealt with me in that area yet" ..... They walk around with their head in the clouds believing that by some miracle God is just going to drop the cure into their lap and feel they need to do nothing.... why? Because that is what many are taught to believe?..... Does (the lie) be it , pastors, preachers, christian friends, whatever really give many believers the impression that it is ok to keep on sinning because God just hasn't gotten around to that bit yet? .... Or could it be that we just haven't given up that bit yet and are still hanging onto the old wineskin? ...... Unless a babe in Christ don't we all know the golden rule.... If it doesn't feel right don't do it.... So are we being lied too or lying to ourselves?.... Do we fool "ourselves" into believing that the drunkard can be included with the sober ? When in all reality we all know that the drunkard and the sober are so far out of each others league that it is much like comparing satan to Jesus really..... Sorry if this makes no sense to any one else but ... I know what I mean

  6. Hey Michelle I sooo feel for you right now... My prayer for you is that you will be given, through Gods amazing grace, the wisdom, knowledge and understanding that you need today concerning your husbands addiction and actions accompanied by, the courage and strength to do what ever it is that God asks you to do ..... and from a sister who knows... when bitterness or self pity raise their ugly heads show em the exit sign and kick em fair in the butt and over to our God ..... He never misses a catch and takes it with a smile My thoughts and prayers are with your family
