This is such cool topic:
I work for the Dayton Church of Christ as the campus minister. I often grow weary and consumed with questions like: "Am I doing this for admiration, glory and honor for God or myself?"
One thing a wise brother showed me was when David felt the same.
2 Samuel 7:13-29
"Who am I?"
Another would be Galation 6:9 "Do not grow weary in doing good"
'sweety cakes' really has something going there:
Hebrews 4:12 says, "The word of God is living and active sharpther than any double edged sword...."
The trick is that the path is very narrow.
Trying will only be used as a tool by satan. trying vs. 'make every effort'
"Make every effort to enter through the narrow door, because many, I tell you, will try to enter and will not be able to. Luke 13:24
The humility required for such a statement as:
"I have to admit, in all honesty, that a lot of the passages in the bible cause me great fear and trembling.
I would hope that Jesus would NOT turn around to me one day and say 'I never knew you'.
I have a hard time living up to what Jesus expects me to. That is a given.
But I know that He has 'known me'.
I hope that He will continue in His grace towards me, and that He will show me mercy on that last day."
is the kind of heart God can mold help 'win the race' 1 corinthians 9:24
thanks for the engaging topic!
