Guest shiloh357
That is interesting because the story of David is found in the book of 1 Kings, and in the Hebrew Bible the I and II Kings are listed as one book called "Kings." So even the title is biblical. It should be an interesting program.

It probably won't be accurate.
Guest shiloh357
What they are doing is taking the basic story line and making a modern version of the story. I doubt there will much reference to God and I also doubt there will be "prophet" like Samuel. Instead of killing Giant, rescues the King's son. In the movie this will begin his rise to power. But in the Bible, David had no kingly aspirations. God had David anointed by Samuel. David became King because Saul lost the anointing to be king and God transferred that anointing to David. I doubt the makers of this program will follow the biblical storyline, and there will be some license taken given the modern setting. Should make for a good show so long as they don't go too far off the beaten path. It would be different if they were doing the story of King David himself and refused to follow the biblical storyline, but this does not appear to be like that. Thus, we shall see. . . .

I watched it just to see what they would do with it. Besides changes like Goliath being a tank, the king's son being no Jonathan, Jesse being David's mother, David's father died in the war years before, etc., etc., etc. . . . It's just like the original. But what irritated me the most was there is no indication that David had a relationship with God, nor that he "faced Goliath" out of faith, or anything like that. They're just telling the version from Hezekiah. "And thus, David flew his stealth bomber into the Philistine Camp, and Goliath was smitten by the might of a thousand bombs".
