According to Jewish tradition they were made of blue sapphire stone, in which case they would have been blue. I don't recall where the Bible states what color they were, however. LOL Ovedya your too smart! YES it was Blue because they were made from the Throne of God which is Blue.. and which is also why GOD commanded Moses to have the people create Blue Tassels for them to wear to serve as a reminder. Here are the verses... Exodus 24: 9-12 9Then went up Moses, and Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel: 10And they saw the God of Israel: and there was under his feet as it were a paved work of a sapphire stone, and as it were the body of heaven in his clearness. 11And upon the nobles of the children of Israel he laid not his hand: also they saw God, and did eat and drink. 12And the LORD said unto Moses, Come up to me into the mount, and be there: and I will give thee tables of stone, and a law, and commandments which I have written; that thou mayest teach them. Exodus 32: 16 16And the tables were the work of God, and the writing was the writing of God, graven upon the tables. Numbers 15: 37 - 39 37And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 38Speak unto the children of Israel, and bid them that they make them fringes in the borders of their garments throughout their generations, and that they put upon the fringe of the borders a ribband of blue: 39And it shall be unto you for a fringe, that ye may look upon it, and remember all the commandments of the LORD, and do them ; and that ye seek not after your own heart and your own eyes, after which ye use to go a whoring

Hopefully this continues. Maybe we should do it like this- OP posts a question, someone answers, OP confirms, and then the correct answeree posts a question of their own, to which someone answers and so on... That little "fun fact" is related to tradition, not the Scriptures directly.

Jewish tradition may well have said they were blue...but it is tradition built on rather fanciful supposition and not on the Word of G-d...the testimony of Scripture is that they were hewn out of the local rock where they were camped in the shadow of Mt Sinai...so they were whatever colour that rock is...probably grey, black or reddish, we don't know for sure.
