Why did God choose to represent Himself as a Lion? Now I know that the Lion is the "King of the Jungle" as they say but I wonder.. is there more behind it than just that?

What characteristics does a lion have that make God choose that animal? Why not a Falcon which can be called king of the sky.. or the Elephant which has no natural enemies but is feared even by the lions.. unless the lions are in a pride with the intent of all attacking it..

I'm sure there must be some kind of hidden message here.. or maybe not. What do you think?

Don't forget as well Satan is referenced like a 'roaring lion' 1Pet 5:8 and Rev13:2

Judah is mentioned in Gen 49 as a 'Lions whelp' and the L-rd as the 'Lion of Judah'...the connection being His genesis.

True.. but I think Satan is more commonly referred to as a serpent more specifically a Dragon.. Anyway, any idea why?

Why did God choose to represent Himself as a Lion?

Well, that is only one of His descriptions.

But He didn't just call Himself a "Lion" but "the Lion of the Tribe of Judah". The lion happens to be the symbol for Judah. So, I guess you can put the pieces together? (My head's a bit stuffy to think right now.)

Looks like I found the answer here..

http://www.thebiblestudypage.com/lion.shtml

Makes sense.. no other animal has those attributes and Lion's Mane which make it look Regal.

Had a look at the site Blien...I think that is what most of us always recognised...also in those days lions roamed Israel, and were especially feared by the Assyrians and Babylonions, who used to keep them in pits...like the one Daniel was in...and also try and demonstrate their prowess by hunting them from chariots. In fact it was lions that caused such problems for the resettlements that led to the emergence of the Samaritans. So as with most/all things...the illustration would have been keenly and graphicly burned into the hearts of those that loved and feared the L-rd.
