Teen Sex Magazine to Stay on Shelves at Iowa Library

That would be great if that's all it was. I bet the mag encourages sexual activity.

And part of the protest is taht it is explicit.

In that it speaks very frankly about sex - what happens, why it happens, what CAN and does happen, etc. IF parents sat down and talked to their teens in terms that are honest and frank about these issues a magazine like this wouldn't exist. Too many of them don't do it, thus... info comes from other sources.

Even though it is the parents place to discuss these issues with their children, unfortunately, there is an overwhelming number of parents that are just as bad as the kids. They themselves are indulging in sin through pornography, adultery, bi-sexual relationships and the like.

Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit.

While in some cases that is unfortunately true - the bottom line is parents still need to be the ones to talk about sex, substance abuse, and other critical issues for their teenage children. If there were honest and commited conversations and teachings about these issues we'd have a lot less kids experimenting with things that they shouldn't and we wouldn't need third parties (via magazines, tv., school, etc.) telling our children the truth.

Too many parents are MIA on pretty much every issue. I have a relative that was talking to me; telling me how upset she was because her daughter was caught skipping school and smoking. I asked her why she believed this was happening and she replied that she didn't know but she had been "way smarter" than her daughter when she was in school, SHE had never gotten caught and she was furious that her daughter had been so stupid. (Not because it was wrong and an issue that needed to be addressed; because the kid had been caught!)This same mother lets the girls' boyfriends sleep over whenever they wish and smokes pot with the kids. Child raising like that would be one reason why kids go to outside sources for information; their parents are, after all, essentially non-existent.
