I just found this article in the National Geographic Web-Site and thought I would share the information on the moon for all you space cadets out there. This coming Saturday night there will be a blue moon, and no it won't really be blue. (thats what I thought too!) But its actually two full moons in one month! It doesn't happen all that often thats why when I saw the headline on the NG site I just had to read it. Check out in the first paragraph how they say the moon was created, it sounds like a fairy tale to me what do you all think!

Cool facts, Marylin - thanks!

Another trivia piece.

The side of the Moon we do not see from Earth is not "the dark side of the Moon" but "the far side of the Moon" - for it does receive sunlight!

Yep...and in the same proportion as the near side :) We just never see it 'cuz it's orbit and rotation are in-sync with each other ( for lack of a better term ) so the same part ( side ) is always facing us....even on a New Moon. A common misconception is that during moon phases we're "seeing" the "dark" side....which I guess you could say it like that, but it's not really accurate. The same portion of the moon is facing the Earth regardless if it's full, gibbous, half, quarter or new....

Sorry...I love the moon :) The moon's :t2:

God bless,

Bob

Great info Marilyn :D Thanks! ( I don't agree with it all, but still interesting )

Well I'm relieved.

I expected this to be about color wars. It really is about the moon.

Nope, never been there. My dad tried to send me a few times though. :)
