No doubt he had a sensitive conscience, even though he was a homosexual. God is a fair and just God...This is one of the times when I prefer to believe that God is merciful to people like this. He was knighted in 1998. Hence the "sir." In 1998 Elton received a knighthood from HM Queen Elizabeth II for "services to music and charitable services."
