Are we boastful or conceited? Are we jealous, rude or selfish? Do we keep grudges or are resentful? Do we give others the benefit of the doubt, or do we judge and condemn them in our heart? Do we forgive our offenders unconditionally and sacrifice our own interest in the process of helping them. (1 Corinthians 13:4-7)

So therefore it means that love is not all about feelings BUT an attitude and an action. "Love is patient and kind; it is not jealous or conceited or proud; love is not ill-mannered or selfish or irritable; love does not keep record of wrongs; love is not happy with evil, but is happy with the truth. Love never gives up; and its faith, hope, and patience never fail. Love is eternal." So if our love for our spouses, friends, family, colleagues, etc, etc, is short of the above, we should pray about it so that we can love the way God wants us to. As children of God we should be ready to love the way God wants us to love otherwise we should NOT even try to say we are ready to settle down because it will be disastrous. So lets live right for God so that the Holy Spirit will help us to bear the fruits of the Spirit which will enable us to love that way. God really has equipped us to be able to love that way. Gal:5:22 "But the Spirit produces love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, humility, and self-control. There is no law against such things as these." You are talking and asking what are the parameters of love. God is love and his love is passed finding out and there are no parameters with God. Ephesians 3:18-19 May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the "breadth," and "length," and "depth,"and "height;" And to know the "love" of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God. Romans 5:5 And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us. According to your question "What are the parameters of love?" There are "NO" parameters when it comes to love.
