We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. 27And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God's will. That verse says that when you pray, the Holy Spirit is right there, so no matter what you say, you cant mess it up. Your prayers are heard. He knows what you need. Philippians 4:6Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. God wants to hear from you about everything. Nothing is too small to talk to the Lord about. Thank Him for everything, ask Him for anything. (Although you probably wont win the lottery if you ask for that, see above regarding how the Holy Spirit intercedes in our prayers.) As for that peace, Ive felt it on many occassions. If you are interested in the formal form of prayer, then take a look at the Lord's prayer. Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, Praise to God your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Acknowledgement of His will, not mine, be done Give us today our daily bread. Prayer requests Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. Forgiveness for sins And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one Keep us safe from temptations and satan This breaks down to: 1) Praise to God 2) Acknowledgement of His will, not mine, be done 3) Prayer requests 4) Forgiveness for sins 5) Keep us safe from temptations and satan When all is said and done, the best way to pray, is from the heart, any way you can talk to God from the heart. Thank Him for little things, talk to Him about big things. Conversationally, formally, it doesnt matter. Just approach Him with a humble heart. I hope this helps.
