Widow aims to get bodies returned

4 January 2011 12:25pm

A US widow looks set to be reunited with the dead bodies of the two people she loved so much that after they died she still wanted them to keep her company at home.

Jean Stevens, 91, who lived with the embalmed bodies of her husband and twin sister until authorities found out and took them away, is hopeful they will be returned soon.

Workmen at Mrs Stevens' rural property outside the northern Pennsylvania town of Wyalusing have been constructing a gabled building with gray siding and a white door. It resembles an oversized shed but in reality it's a mausoleum for Mrs Stevens' husband of nearly 60 years, James, and her twin, June.

Authorities have told her it is the only way she can get them back - and she can't wait.

It brings to mind something else which is a similar case of "not letting go" of some one. Companies are now making reborn dolls that very closely resemble babies who have died..........................................

"Parents struggling to cope with losing a baby are easing their grief with replica dolls of their lost children. The lifelike models, called Reborn Dolls, have a mechanical beating heart, realistic hair and even veins, says The ...... Newspaper

Experts make them look identical to a child that has died, and weights are placed in their limbs and bodies to mimic the way a real baby would feel to hold.

However the Child Bereavement Trust, a charity that counsels grieving families, has warned against parents replacing lost babies with models.

It told The ......Newspaper "It's more helpful for them to face the reality of what is happening and express their painful feelings without relying on such a doll."

This is all so sad. And the companies that are doing this are making a living off the very people who need counselling. Where are the churches or the ministers of these people. They have no hope of seeing their loved ones. They are being failed by the Christian community. It is sad and tragic.

This is so heartbreaking. There are those who never come to term with grief and loss. It is so hard to lose someone you love and if you don't have God in your heart - it's even harder. My heart aches for those who grieve. God Bless them.
