Along the way, she took pictures and notes of city names she passed through, and put them in her scrapbook. Other than State names, y'all have some funny city names. So do we......Go Home, Saskatchewan for example.... One thing I always wondered......someone once said there is a North and South Dekota, but no Dekota to be north and south of. Same with Carolina......

The 13 Colonies Virginia, IIRC, was named for Queen Elizabeth - "The Virgin Queen" West Virginai is was a split off of Virginia during the American Civil War. Pennsylvania was name for founder William Penn. The "sylvania" part is a common ending for towns in parts of Europe (i.e. - you've heard of Transylvania? ). New York named after York, England. Georgia named for King George of England. Deleware named after a Native American tribe in that region. All I can think of at the moment.
