Hi Word Sower

When the bible speaks about those that do iniquity in the new testament, what have you been taught about the meaning? What does the bible say it means.

LEV.5 [17] And if a soul sin, and commit any of these things which are forbidden to be done by the commandments of the LORD; though he wist it not, yet is he guilty, and shall bear his iniquity.

Break commandments = iniquity

NUMBERS 15 [31] Because he hath despised the word of the LORD, and hath broken his commandment, that soul shall utterly be cut off; his iniquity shall be upon him.

Break commandments = iniquity

PSALMS 89 [30] If his children forsake my law, and walk not in my judgments;[31] If they break my statutes, and keep not my commandments;[32] Then will I visit their transgression with the rod, and their iniquity with stripes.

Break commandments = iniquity

Well WS, the above scripture cant be any clearer.

MATT.7  [21] Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that

doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.[22] Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?[23] And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

Ye that work iniquity = I never knew you

And here WS, these are obviously among those that say

"we believe". They have even cast out devils USING HIS WORDS

JER.9 [13] And the LORD saith, Because they have forsaken my law which I set before them, and have not obeyed my voice, neither walked therein;[14] But have walked after the imagination of their own heart, and after Baalim, which their fathers taught them:[15] Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will feed them, even this people, with wormwood, and give them water of gall to drink.

They that forsake the law will be fed with wormwood and water of gall.

Hey Word Sower isnt baalim worshiped on sundays? Isnt he the god of the sun? Do you know who tammuz is? Aint it time to boil some eggs?

REVELATIONS 8 [11] And the name of the star is called Wormwood: and the third part of the waters became wormwood; and many men died of the waters, because they were made bitter.

the waters became wormwood; and many men died of the waters

ACTS 8 [22] Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray God, if perhaps the thought of thine heart may be forgiven thee.[23] For I perceive that thou art in the gall of bitterness, and in the bond of iniquity.

Acts 8 says to repent. Of what? Repent of sin? What is sin? Well, according to the new testament

Hi guys just thought I would jump in here for a minute. As I understand and it's quite simple is we are no longer under the law when and only when we start following the commandments out of our love for Christ and our fellow man. We can only love Christ and our fellow man in spirit because well look around the world it is a very high calling. We can not do this in word and deed, they may reflect it, but it is not the same. Once we have the Spirit we have a deep desire to please God in all things. So pretty much we follow the commandments not because we have to or we should but because we want to, we desire to. This is against our nature so it is only through a manifestation of the Spirit that we can or desire to follow the commandments. If what we believe is that the commandments no longer hold any weight then we must at all costs go back to the drawing board and call upon God to renew our hearts. If we are arguing against the neccessity of following the commandments then we do not know the Spirit of grace and cannot understand this. If we don't know the Spirit we are not truly born again, and cannot enter the kingdom of heaven. Those that desire to do God's will no matter the personal costs to themselves will understand what I'm saying here. Those that get their dander up over it will want to argue. I'm begging you take it up with God, none of us here can produce the change in you, you so desparately need.

In Yeshua's love

Shilou,

I don't know where you are coming from so I will just state my convictions:

Under the law we have a list of do's and don'ts.  If we can follow them to the letter we would receive all of the blessings of God.

Under the New Covenant we are led by the Spirit of God so much more is required of us.  We have a direct connection to God, no earthly priests to intercede, just our High Priest, Jesus, so....

instead of just not committing the act of adultery-which is all that is required under the OT, we have to keep a pure mind and not even THINK about it.

Instead of not not telling a lie, we must speak truth to all that they may receive the truth.

Instead of not haveing idols made of stone or wood we must not have any idols in our hearts against God, nothing that exalts itself above God.

Instead of observing one day of the week to God we must surrender our whole life, every minute, every hour, every day to God and remember that all we have is His, our money, our possessions and our time and serve Him ALL the time.

I've already quoted what Paul says about sin.  Do we continue in sin that grace may abound, Certainly not!

The law is completed, established, expanded, fulfilled, magnified in Christ, we become married to Him and behold Him in the mirror, instead of ourselves, He works through us.

I don't know how to be any clearer.

Yes I agree wordsower, under the new covenant we are not to even think about these things. My point would be it would be impossible for us to do this without being born again. We are not capable in and of ourselves even knowing what the rules are of bringing that about within us. The rules are actually there to show us we just can't do them by ourselves, to show us how hard that would be. But once we are born again this wonderful thing happens in our lives. We really don't even think about doing or not doing these things. It comes naturally, even in alot of instances the doing of these things that are against God are repulsive to us. I'll give a quickie example in my life. Music that I used to listen to that was ungodly is now repulsive to me, not only do I choose not to listen to it, but I can't because it is just simply very uncomfortable. I didn't get repulsed by it because I read some scripture that said that music is not good to listen to, but rather because it repulses the manifested Spirit within me. But with that is to always keep in mind that it is not us that is good, but the Spirit of God that indwells within us. I guess what I'm saying is I see and hear so many people debating should we be doing this or should we be doing that. When I know through personal experience that what we really need to be doing everyday is getting on our knees and begging for our hearts to be renewed like that of Christ's. Like David did. When we do that all those shoulds and shouldn'ts become clear as a bell, we know the answer intuitively because the Spirit sings when things are right and cringes when they are wrong. What we do and don't do is a reaction to the Spirits response within us. So I guess you could say we're on the same page just coming at it from different perspectives.

Have a great day

Love in Yeshua

I agree Shilou,

As I said, I was raised SDA.  I had a sense of obligation to do right but no heartfelt 'want to'  I listened to all sorts of junk music, watched horrible TV and movies, in fact, I thought a good horror film was fun--sad.

When I got saved, I could hardly turn the TV on anymore, my favorite shows were trash and I didn't even know it!  Now I honestly watch christian TV and FOXnews-to keep up on what's happening and sometimes the history channel, animal planet and discovery, that's about it.  I only want to listen to christian music.

I don't say this to sound super spiritual, I just realized after being saved that there is a definate spirtual realm out there that I hadn't recognized before and there is a real spiritual warfare going on for my soul and if it isn't faith, it's sin, if it isn't God, it's evil.  Black and white, plain and simple-our spirit lives on what we feed it so I need all the spiritual nutrition I can get!

Blessings to you,

Suzanne,

We have been around this bush.  You want to say we have to obey the 10 commandments but you go to church on Sunday.

They 4th commandment says you have to go on Saturday.

Either you have to obey it or you don't.

I go to church on Sunday too but it is not the Sabbath, the Sabbath was a shadow of Christ, He came and is now the substance, the rest.

You make no sense in your argument.  If you want to be a commandment keeper, you HAVE to go to keep Saturday holy, period.

Hi all

just wanted to say im in agreement about the music and tv shows.Used to listen and used to watch. Cant do it no more.Cringe when i hear some of the music, even stuff i used to listen to. The tv comedies all appear to be written by the same person. They are all alike, as they all have a sort of fixation on sexual jokes. Most of the shows would have been labled as soft porn when i was a kid. I feel sorry for the kids who grow up watching this crap, and believeing this is the way life is to be. Im afraid they will lose a beautiful part of what real love is.
