God forgive me for the times that I've lived these versions of the songs instead of the right ones! My thoughts exactly. Sometimes it's way too easy to focus on ourselves instead of on God. A perfect example is when people complain about the music that is used during worship...people care much more about if the song is from a hymnal played on a pipe organ or if it's done by a praise band than God does. Both can and do glorify Him when done with the proper attitude. When people say "I can't worship with that kind of music", they are focused on themselves, not on the Lord. Made me laugh too - but as you say, when you think about it it is really no laughing matter: how often we praise God and make all sorts of promises at church on Sunday and then come Monday morning it's the furthest thing on our minds (and I regret it so often includes me).
