Mitt Romney walked away the Super Tuesday winner, after building his delegate lead with victories in at least five states and pulling off the headline-grabber of the night -- Ohio.

So this November the choice will be between a cultist and a socialist. Most of us Christians will either stay home or write in a candidate (which I plan to do), which means Obama will get four more years. America is doomed.

Let us never lose sight of the fact that though political systems which are created by Man will fail, God never fails.

I happen to love my country. I have volunteered to serve in its armed forces. So I'll risk sounding jingoistic and state this: If there were such a thing as a Hall of Fame for nations (past and present), I believe the USA would rank right up there as one of the greatest. But all throughout history, great nations have risen, and great nations have fallen.

Since I know that it is impossible for anything created by Man to last forever, I believe the US IS in decline. Though redemption is always a possibility I don't think it will happen.

But the good news is God's miracles seem to be more obvious and apparent during times of hardship than they are in times of plenty.

So rather than being pessimistic about our short term future, let us be optimistic as we look to see what God is going to do as He fulfills His plan.

Blessings!

Good point, Saved; pressure makes diamonds. Still, though, it's sad to see America slide into the same socialist mess most of Europe has. I'd thought my grandsons would have a little better time of it than I did.

I have two grand-daughters myself - ages 4 and 6 - so I hear you.

Both my parents were children of the Great Depression (born in 1916 and 1917) and came of age during World War II. You could say their generation truly sacrificed, and members of my generation (so-called baby boomers) benefited from their sacrifice by the post war prosperity we have seen since.

But that material prosperity has come at a spiritual price - to the point that the question is actually being debated as to whether or not a Roman Catholic institution should be forced by the gov't to provide contraceptives.

Such a debate would have been unheard of a mere 5 or 10 years ago, but here we are.

One of the things that fascinates me about Scripture is how it shows that human nature has not changed in the millennea since the days of the ancient Israelites. When God's People in the OT were prospering materially, they tended to be far away from Him. But when they faltered, they turned back TO Him.

It is just as true today.

Although I've always been a political conservative and usually (but not always) voted Republican, I (like you) will not be voting for Mitt Romney this time. Election night I will be watching the returns with the same level of interest I watch a Super Bowl when I don't have a favored team playing.

I've (finally) come to the correct conclusion that the "heart" and "soul" of this country is what is ill - and elections are not going to fix that.

Only God can.

On a final note, my wife and I are trying to prepare our grand daughters (spiritually) for what is ahead for them. That, I believe, is the best legacy we can give.

Blessings!

Yep. You know, it's kind of morbidly fascinating to how fast our country has come loose from its moorings. I know these days have long been predicted, but it's a whole 'nother animal to be living in them. Thankfully our whole family is saved, but I think all real Christians in America are going to be in for a very rough time of it. Once Obama wins his second term (and absent real crisis between now and November, it'll happen), and once he knows he can do pretty much as he pleases--without having to think about getting elected again--the gloves will come off.

And for the first time we'll really get to see the man behind the mask.
