"Hunt for Red October" is one of my all time favorite movies.I've also read the book several times.  It's such a good storyline it makes one wonder if it might have actually happened...

This is what made his books, especially the early ones, so good.

as you are reading them you have no problem believing they could really happen.

Red Storm Rising is my favorite and it is scary accurate.

I liked both, and then the slight change of "Clear and present danger" as well.

Actually, there was one book where the military informed Clancy that he was inaccurate.

I forget which, but it was the first where war was actually engaged.

The inaccuracy?

None of the equipment broke down, the guns never jammed, the missiles always fired, ....

(Bottom line, military equipment is made by the lowest bidder, and it acts accordingly!)

Clear and present danger was tom Clancy as well-excellent movie loved Harrison ford in it. You may not know this but the hunt for red October and clear and present danger were all from the same book series following jack Ryan (portrayed by Alec Baldwin in red October, ford in patriot games and clear and present danger and Ben affleck in the sum of all fears)

I didn't realize that!  Thank you, now I may have to watch them all over again!
