Guest DRS81 Posted January 18, 2014 Share Posted January 18, 2014 It is confirmed that Paul wrote 14 out of 66 books of the Holy Bible so..... where exactly was he when he wrote these scriptures, and what condition was he in?... was he free, in prison, what cities was he in, did he move from place to place, was he on the run? He was in many places. He wrote from prison while waiting his execution, he wrote alot of letters to churches, also letters to youngTimothy whom he was teaching. I do not believe he knew that his letters would make it in the bible. We benefited in so much of Paul, he suffered alot of hurts... his condition in writing was loving, and forgiving... and his writings help us in the bible daily. Paul never complained about being in chains, in fact he did some of his best work while under confinement. He knew if he could praise God in the worst of places he knew for a fact God was indeed worthy to be praised. When or if the Romans found these scriptures of his, why did they not throw them away? Paul was in Corinth when he wrote I and II Thessalonians and Romans. He was in Ephesus when he wrote I Corinthians. He was in Macedonia when he wrote II Corinthians. He was in a Roman prison when he wrote Ephesians, Phillippians, Colossians, Philemon. It is not clear where Paul was when he wrote to the churches in the Galatian region. Titus was written from either Corinth or Nicopolis He was in Macedonia when he wrote I Timothy and then again in a Roman prison expecting to die as a martyr when he wrote II Timothy. Why didn't the Roman guards or people take his writings and throw um out? Same question goes for all 66 books of the Bible, being that many of the apostles had gone through persecution. The short answer is that God has always preserved His word. Not only that, but you need to understand that Paul's letters were copied and sent all over the known the world. Even Peter refers to them as Scripture. There is no way that anyone could destroy the Bible because God chose that period in time to make Himself known to the world and he used the sophisicated interstate roads and postal system that Rome had built as a means of delivering the Gospel all over the world. There are thousands of copies of Paul's letters preserved from ancient times. Not even the Roman Empire could have found and destroyed all of them. And Rome was only opposed to Christianity insomuch as Jesus was elevated above Caesar as "Lord." Other than that, they had no problem with allowing Christianity to flourish. The empire was actually very tolerant of just about any kind of religion so long as the leaders or gods of those religions were kept in submission to the Caeasar. When the Christians delcared Jesus to be Lord over all of the earth including the Casear that is where the problems for the Christians really came about vis a vis the Roman empire. For example, if a Roman guard knew Paul was writing the original scripture why didn't that guard throw it away. How would they know that what Paul was writing was Scripture?
