And the Spirit of the Lord rushed upon him, and he went down to Ashkelon and struck down thirty men of the town and took their spoil and gave the garments to those who had told the riddle. In hot anger he went back to his father's house. And Samson's wife was given to his companion, who had been his best man.

Such multikill for loot at first view looks like completely bad thing. But he was influenced by the Spirit of the Lord.

So maybe he did good thing after all?

If he was influenced by the spirit of the Lord,it's a good thing. However, although I know the story of Samson, I'm not greatly familiar with the book of Judges apart from the key points and I don't remember this bit, so I don't know the context.

The answer is right above the verses you provided.

Judges 14:12-18

Then Samson said to them, ā€œLet me pose a riddle to you. If you can correctly solve and explain it to me within the seven days of the feast, then I will give you thirty linen garments and thirty changes of clothing. But if you cannot explain it to me, then you shall give me thirty linen garments and thirty changes of clothing.ā€

And they said to him, ā€œPose your riddle, that we may hear it.ā€

So he said to them:

Ā

ā€œOut of the eater came something to eat,

And out of the strong came something sweet.ā€

Now for three days they could not explain the riddle.

But it came to pass on the seventh day that they said to Samsonā€™s wife, ā€œEntice your husband, that he may explain the riddle to us, or else we will burn you and your fatherā€™s house with fire. Have you invited us in order to take what is ours? Is that not so?ā€

Then Samsonā€™s wife wept on him, and said, ā€œYou only hate me! You do not love me! You have posed a riddle to the sons of my people, but you have not explained it to me.ā€

And he said to her, ā€œLook, I have not explained it to my father or my mother; so should I explain it to you?ā€ 17 Now she had wept on him the seven days while their feast lasted. And it happened on the seventh day that he told her, because she pressed him so much. Then she explained the riddle to the sons of her people. 18 So the men of the city said to him on the seventh day before the sun went down:

ā€œWhat is sweeter than honey?

And what is stronger than a lion?ā€

And he said to them:

ā€œIf you had not plowed with my heifer,

You would not have solved my riddle!ā€

Seems like he was doing as the Lord moved him to do. Understand the culture of the time and it would help show you the answers.

....he did good thing.... ?

Ā

~

Ā

Yes

Ā

And he came up, and told his father and his mother, and said, I have seen a woman in Timnath of the daughters of the Philistines: now therefore get her for me to wife.

Ā

Then his father and his mother said unto him, Is there never a woman among the daughters of thy brethren, or among all my people, that thou goest to take a wife of the uncircumcised Philistines?

Ā

And Samson said unto his father, Get her for me; for she pleaseth me well.

Ā

But his father and his mother knew not that it was of the LORD, that he sought an occasion against the Philistines: for at that time the Philistines had dominion over Israel. Judges 14:2-4

Ā

Samson

Ā

And the Spirit of the LORD came upon him, and he went down to Ashkelon, and slew thirty men of them, and took their spoil, and gave change of garments unto them which expounded the riddle. And his anger was kindled, and he went up to his father's house. Judges 14:19

Ā

Was A Judge

Ā

And Samson said, With the jawbone of an ass, heaps upon heaps, with the jaw of an ass have I slain a thousand men. Judges 15:16

Ā

And As I See It, The Point Is

Ā

But the Philistines took him, and put out his eyes, and brought him down to Gaza, and bound him with fetters of brass; and he did grind in the prison house.

Ā

Howbeit the hair of his head began to grow again after he was shaven.

Ā

Then the lords of the Philistines gathered them together for to offer a great sacrifice unto Dagon their god, and to rejoice: for they said, Our god hath delivered Samson our enemy into our hand.

Ā

And when the people saw him, they praised their god: for they said, Our god hath delivered into our hands our enemy, and the destroyer of our country, which slew many of us.

Ā

And it came to pass, when their hearts were merry, that they said, Call for Samson, that he may make us sport.

Ā

And they called for Samson out of the prison house; and he made them sport: and they set him between the pillars. Judges 16:21-25
Ā

Don't Mess With The God

Ā

And Samson said unto the lad that held him by the hand, Suffer me that I may feel the pillars whereupon the house standeth, that I may lean upon them.

Ā

Now the house was full of men and women; and all the lords of the Philistines were there; and there were upon the roof about three thousand men and women, that beheld while Samson made sport.

Ā

And Samson called unto the LORD, and said, O Lord GOD, remember me, I pray thee, and strengthen me, I pray thee, only this once, O God, that I may be at once avenged of the Philistines for my two eyes.

Ā

And Samson took hold of the two middle pillars upon which the house stood, and on which it was borne up, of the one with his right hand, and of the other with his left.

Ā

And Samson said, Let me die with the Philistines. And he bowed himself with all his might; and the house fell upon the lords, and upon all the people that were therein.

Ā

So the dead which he slew at his death were more than they which he slew in his life. Judges 16:26-30

Ā

Of Israel

Ā

Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. Psalms 121:4

The Lord had commanded them rid the people from the land and the Spirit came uponĀ  Samson so he could start doing so.
