Can Only the Elect Accept God and be saved ?

I agree Christ died for all of mankind, however all will not be saved. If GOD wanted all to be saved then all would be, but that is not the case.

 That all are not saved doesn't mean that God doesn't want all to be saved.   Salvation is available to EVERYONE, not some group God pre-selected.  To say that God only wants to save some, is frankly a heresy.

And yes, who will be saved without having their purpose/destiny defined by GOD?

Who can be saved without GOD's permission? I say only the elect.

Your question works from a false premeise that God decides who will or will not be saved.  Again, false teaching to be rejected.

God has not only given "permission" for all to be saved, He calls on all men to be saved.   Salvation is available to ";whosoever" and not some mythological group God allegedly selected to be saved.

Calvinism is a theological teaching; it is not a biblical teaching.

The keyword is foreknew. God already knew who would choose Him and who would reject Him.                                                posted by Cletus

   Agreed   Firstly,we have free will & it is our choice to accept or deny Jesus & receive Gods grace......Secondly,God is not a respecter of persons,,,"whosoever"                                                                                                                 With love-in Christ,Kwik

Ephesians 1:4-7King James Version (KJV)

4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:

5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,

6 To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.

7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;

Read all of John 17 and notice Jesus praying about two different groups that are to become one in Him and The Father. Then study the different commissions between those two groups. One group can never fall away from Christ because they are 'chosen' and 'called'. But the other group can... fall away, because they are 'called' only. For many are called, but few are chosen, like our Lord Jesus said.

  Jesus saves some people and chooses them to stay saved and saves another group and lets them fall away?   Nonsense.

In John 17: 1-19, Jesus first prays for His original disciples.  Starting in verse 20 He prays for all those who believe because of disciple's testimony.    There is no basis for believing that the two groups are those who will get saved and be kept saved and a second group that is saved but allowed to fall away.  That is simply not to be found in the Bible.

When Jesus said that many are called and few are chosen, it was in the context of a wedding feast, when a guest tried to enter the wedding feast without the proper garment.  There are those who try to enter the Kingdom by other means, but they are rejected.  Those chosen to participate in the royal wedding feast are those who have trusted in Jesus as Savior.  They are the only ones who wear the proper garment.
