Do you think it is simply a "changing of one's mind" or must one "forsake their sins" in the manner of "Lordship salvation"? Thanks in advance! Titus 3:5, and 1 Peter 3:21) and He does this in us by our belief in his gospel of grace. Now during our walk it is the Holy Spirit that will correct us and chaste us when we start again to look toward the flesh, the raging sea and not fix our eyes on Jesus. Not Lordship salvation, cause Lordship salvation is just like striving on your own merit like the false doctrine of catholicism to right yourself before God. Guest Teditis
A turning away from... with all of one's body, soul, and spirit. But what of the danger of self righteousness? In turning away, we also would be turning away from self-righteousness. It's all inclusive because when we turn away, we are in fact turning to God. We turn to face God for the first time... (and successive times during the process of Sanctification). Everything other than God is therefore to our rear/backs.

But what of the danger of self righteousness? It is common for a Christian to think they are,or can be,righteous in and of themselves. In the New Testament Jesus and the apostle Paul came down hard on those who tried to live in self-righteousness.The Parable of the Pharisee and the tax collector talks about this Luke 18:9-14.Jesus spent a lot of time warning His disciples about the danger of self righteousness. I was devastated by every slip up - plagued by a secret guilt I felt ashamed to share. I think most of the problem was my lack of belief that God could still love me as much as before a fall. Guest Teditis
Calvinism can be confusing to most and is nicely contrasted with Armenian-ism, er, at least in my opinion. But even Calvinists talk well of Assurance and how to overcome being plagued with guilt.

I totally know where your coming from, i listened to multiple sermons from John Macarthur, i bought his study reference bible, and also attended one of his associated churches down here in florida. Rather than ephasizing that its the Spirit that will correct, Lordship salvation focuses on your own merit. Its the grace of God that teaches us to deny ungodliness and worldly lusts yes, but the way Macarthur teaches it is too much on the side of the strength of ones flesh.
