I was thinking about this yesterday, and I hope this isn't a really stupid question, but if Jesus paid the penalty for all of our sins - past, present, and future - why must we then still physically die?  :noidea:

It's because salvation occurs in stages.   Jesus redeemed us from the curse of the law (spiritual death), but the curse of the fall (physical death) has not yet been removed.  We won't experience that until we receive our glorified bodies.  The reason we die physically is because our sin nature was passed down to us from Adam.
