Kind of a funny story: My husband is a big guy. He looks kind of scary to some people. Like a big biker guy if you know what I mean. He has told me when he has gone into a store, that people act scared of him until they see his wedding ring. Then they seem to think that he must be okay since he has a wife.

I think it's a good idea to wear wedding rings just to tell the opposite sex that we are not available. For a year or so after our wedding, my wife and I didn't wear any rings, but later on we decided that the rings were necessary to reduce the probability of getting into trouble.

Yes, I like the tradition of wearing a wedding ring as well. It shows your commitment....usually. I have known women who find a man with a wedding ring a challenge.

thanks alot.

i was talking to a man i had occasion to work alongside a couple weeks ago, and he told me a story about another man he knew while in the military, a paratrooper, who lost his finger because his wedding ring got caught on a part of the plane door as he was making a jump. this fellow had also worked as a machinist for a while, and told me more horror stories about people getting rings caught in equipment.
i've had mine catch on things sometimes too, and now sometimes i'll take it off, depending on what i'm doing, while working.

i never wear it while making pottery, because it leaves indentations in the clay ((plus it collects a lot of mud, because mine is textured)). i play hand drums too, and i never wear it then either, because it can damage the skins.

my wife and i have tossed around the idea of having rings tattooed onto our fingers for 20 years or more, but never went through with it.

i certainly don't see any Biblical basis to prohibit wedding rings. because of what they are, i'd say there is a moral basis for them, with an ethic consistent with Biblical morality.

oh yes, and also there is this:

On that day,
declares the LORD of hosts,
I will take you, O Zerubbabel my servant, the son of Shealtiel,
declares the LORD,
and make you like a signet ring, for I have chosen you,
declares the LORD of hosts.

(Haggai 2:23)

the Lord ((at least figuratively)) wears His chosen servant as a ring.
so it'd be pretty hard to argue that He is anti-ring-wearing just as a matter of course!

Oh okay. Well the reason I ask is because I was wondering if someone said something to the poster about wedding rings not be Biblical and there for they are wrong to have? I have come across people that are like that.  People who think that if it isn't pointed out in the Bible then it is wrong to do. I once got into an argument with someone who felt that putting on plays bass on Bible stories was wrong because there is nothing in the Bible telling us to put on plays as a means of teaching Bible stories. Therefor it is wrong to put on a play to teach Bible stories. So I was just wondering.
